Community Storehouse Food for Kids program

Food for Kids makes a difference in the lives of impoverished children by providing kids identified

by teachers, counselors, and school nurses with discrete backpacks, filled with nutritious, child-

friendly foods to utilize on weekends and holidays when other resources – such as school breakfast

and lunch programs – aren’t available. The program is designed to meet the needs of children who

rely on these resources as their only, or only reliable, source of food.

In order to expand our outreach in the community, St. Joseph will be collecting microwaveable Chef

Boyardee single serving meals that can be sent home through the backpack program. Our hope is

that through both Community Storehouse and Grace Network, we can help many in our community

from feeling the pains of hunger. Please help us by donating microwaveable meals to Community

Storehouse (or purchase a $10 gift card and we will purchase them for you) and grits, oatmeal or

applesauce to Grace Network. Baskets for each can be found under the table near the kitchen in the

commons.

Why do we sing / pray the Psalms at every Mass ?

Aren't they often "obscure", "flowery", “irrelevant to our times”? Come to the Library on Thursday at 7pm to learn why! It's the weekly Bible Study group that meets every Thursday (except the third Thursday of every month, when inspiring movies are shown, with food provided, for fellowship with your parishioner)

May Procession and Crowning of Mary at the Grotto – May 1 immediately after the 11:45

Mass. All parishioners, especially youth and children, are invited to join in honoring Mary in by

processing in song to the grotto for the crowning, songs and prayer. Reception to follow.

Car Wash - The youth group will be washing cars during Mass on May 1. Tickets will be on sale

today and next weekend and will enter you in the drawing for a gift basket or free carwash! Place

your ticket on your windshield, park in the back lot and the youth will wash your car while you

celebrate Mass!
