MANNERING PARK
PUBLIC SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER
27 February, 2014
Information afternoons
I’d like to thank the parents who took the time to come into
the school to meet the teachers of their children this week
and hope you were happy with the information sharing. Any
parents who couldn’t attend are most welcome to make
appointments to come and meet with teachers, at a mutually
agreed time, to discuss any issues about this year at
Mannering Park.
Carpark Concern
Unfortunately, we still have some parents and students
coming into or leaving the school via the staff car parks and
request that they refrain from this due to obvious safety
reasons.
School Assembly
At tomorrow’s assembly from 2:00pm in the Hall we will be
handing out ribbons to the children for their efforts at our
School Swimming Carnival, and announcing the winning house
for the carnival. Results for each event are included in this
newsletter so you know who will be receiving the 1st, 2nd and
3rd place ribbons. Thank you to all parents and carers for
your support at the carnival.
The District Carnival will be held at Mingara Pool on
Wednesday, 5 March and we wish our representative squad all
the very best for that event. Thank you to Mrs Stevenson
and Mr Rath for their organisation.
Jane Cassidy, from the Commonwealth Bank, will also be at
this assembly to talk to students and parents about student
banking.
After School Dance
The Crane Academy of Dance commences after school today
and will run each Thursday afternoon. Anyone interested is
asked to come in and meet Zoe who is the highly qualified
instructor based here from now on. Lessons will run between
3.30 and 6.00pm.
Computer Safety at Home
Parents, a great site to assist you and your children at home
in the areas of monitoring which sites your children are
accessing, cybersafety, tips, etc is:
www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/technology/cybersafety
I urge all parents to have a look at this most worthwhile site.
Peter Mandroules
Principal.
Year 5 & 6 Canberra Excursion
There will be a meeting to discuss all aspects of the
Canberra excursion on Tuesday, 11 March at 2:00pm in
the hall.
Please come along, so everyone can talk about the
schedule, payment plan, expectations of students etc.
Look forward to seeing you all.
Also further in the newsletter is the Expression of
Interest for students to attend the Canberra
excursion. If you haven’t returned this form yet
please do so asap.
Thank you
Amanda Lavercombe
Class Work Samples
2/3Y have been investigating the topic “What’s that
Sound?”
The students made instruments as part of their
homework. Thank you to all of the parents and carers
who helped make these projects. They have turned out
very well and the children have enjoyed the
experience. Look for some great photos further in the
newsletter.
