MANNERING PARK PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER [email protected] 27 February, 2014 Information afternoons I’d like to thank the parents who took the time to come into the school to meet the teachers of their children this week and hope you were happy with the information sharing. Any parents who couldn’t attend are most welcome to make appointments to come and meet with teachers, at a mutually agreed time, to discuss any issues about this year at Mannering Park. Carpark Concern Unfortunately, we still have some parents and students coming into or leaving the school via the staff car parks and request that they refrain from this due to obvious safety reasons. School Assembly At tomorrow’s assembly from 2:00pm in the Hall we will be handing out ribbons to the children for their efforts at our School Swimming Carnival, and announcing the winning house for the carnival. Results for each event are included in this newsletter so you know who will be receiving the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons. Thank you to all parents and carers for your support at the carnival. The District Carnival will be held at Mingara Pool on Wednesday, 5 March and we wish our representative squad all the very best for that event. Thank you to Mrs Stevenson and Mr Rath for their organisation. Jane Cassidy, from the Commonwealth Bank, will also be at this assembly to talk to students and parents about student banking. After School Dance The Crane Academy of Dance commences after school today and will run each Thursday afternoon. Anyone interested is asked to come in and meet Zoe who is the highly qualified instructor based here from now on. Lessons will run between 3.30 and 6.00pm. Computer Safety at Home Parents, a great site to assist you and your children at home in the areas of monitoring which sites your children are accessing, cybersafety, tips, etc is: www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/technology/cybersafety I urge all parents to have a look at this most worthwhile site. Please come along, so everyone can talk about the schedule, payment plan, expectations of students etc. Look forward to seeing you all. Also further in the newsletter is the Expression of Interest for students to attend the Canberra excursion. If you haven’t returned this form yet please do so asap. Thank you Amanda Lavercombe Class Work Samples 2/3Y have been investigating the topic “What’s that Sound?” The students made instruments as part of their homework. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who helped make these projects. They have turned out very well and the children have enjoyed the experience. Look for some great photos further in the newsletter. Canteen News Thank you to Katia, Lisa, Danni and Kellie for helping out in the past week. It’s good to catch up and your help is greatly appreciated. Don’t forget HASHBROWNS for breakfast special Mon, Wed and Fri for only $1. Please check out the whiteboard on the canteen door for recess specials, they change daily. A friendly reminder to all students that the good manners awards will return tomorrow and children will be given their $1 credit and certificate at assembly tomorrow. PLEASE NOTE: Our Cheeseburger Meal Deal will be held on Tuesday, 11 March for only $6.50. Please return your notes and money to the canteen asap. Information afternoons

I’d like to thank the parents who took the time to come into

the school to meet the teachers of their children this week

and hope you were happy with the information sharing. Any

parents who couldn’t attend are most welcome to make

appointments to come and meet with teachers, at a mutually

agreed time, to discuss any issues about this year at

Mannering Park.

Carpark Concern

Unfortunately, we still have some parents and students
