Well done!
There is no denying it, the Christmas countdown has begun, I hope countdown
below is a helpful summary!
You may have heard about schools in Leicester that are struggling with nasty bugs; we
are responding by teaching children good hand washing techniques and stepping up the
cleaning in the buildings as a preventative measure.
So far, we are looking as healthy as we can expect for this time of year so please
continue to send your children in. Please continue to teach good hand hygiene at
home to try and minimise risk of infection. It is also a good time to remind parents, if your
child vomits or has diarrhoea, please abide by the 48hr rule to avoid risk of spreading the
virus. Mrs Simpson

Attendance Rewards Week!Well done to all the children who achieved 100%
attendance last week. The reward was a fabulous
day of trampoline gymnastics for infant and junior
children. The children all thoroughly enjoyed this and
had lots of run playing different games and bouncing
very high!
Don’t worry if you missed out, we will run another
100% this academic year with similar rewards.
Remember to Go For Green and be in school every
day!
If it snows…We will be following our inclement weather policy and assessing health and safety risks to the school and
staffing ratios present within the buildings. We will be consulting TMET and our Chair of the Academy
Council if it is looking likely that we would have to close. We would share a message of closure via social
media, a text and email to all first contacts on our system will be sent and a message will appear on the
website. If you do not hear anything, we will be open so PLEASE bring your child into school.
We would also
like to thank
you all of the
parents/carers
who joined us
today for
decorations
afternoon.
We hope you
enjoyed it.

Cadbury World
Year 4 had a chocolate filled day at Cadbury World this week. Once we
reached the Bourneville factory, we journeyed through the chocolatey
zones. Here we went through an Aztec jungle, explored the history of
Cadbury and chocolate, watched some chocolate making in action and
even went on a magical Cadbury ride full of suprises!
The afternoon was full of great facts about the Aztecs. We discovered
some of the unusual beliefs of The Aztecs, saw real Ghanaian cocoa
pods filled with the cocoa beans and one lucky pupil even got the
chance to dress up as the powerful leader, Montezuma, and learn
about his rise and fall from power.
We left our chocolatey adventure with fun facts in our brains and some
lovely chocolate in our bellies...yummy!
THANK YOU…To everyone who purchased a
poppy.
We managed to raise £295.73
across both sites!
Your generosity and support is
very much appreciated, as
always.
Votes for SchoolsLast week our question was
“Is fake news always bad?”
We were discussing fake news
sometimes being funny and sometimes
being harmful. Our results show that our
thoughts are similar to those in the
country.
This week we will be discussing
“Are disabilities still misunderstood?”

School Nurse
Drop-In Sessions
If you have any concerns or worries about your
child’s health or development, then you can make
an appointment at the school reception to see me
on this day. I am unable to diagnose or
prescribe any medication.
Please be aware that if you have any language
communication barriers that you will need to bring
someone with you to interpret and support you.
If your child is ill or has an accident then you still
need to seek the appropriate medical treatment at
the time.
The next drop-in session will be held on Thursday
12th December 2019 at the Infant site.
I will be available to see parents from 8.30-9.30am
(this can be extended if needed).
School Nurse Cloud Number: 0116 215 3234

Nursery Teddy Bear’s Picnic After learning lots about bears at school through a variety of
stories and activities including acting, threading and
creating. The Hummingbirds enjoyed a wonderful Teddy
Bears’ Picnic together.
It was a real opportunity to get to know each other and
there was some lovely conversations happening which we
know is absolutely crucial for children’s brain development.
The children made their own sandwiches too!
Thank you to all the parents for the food donations and for
helping to make it such a success!

We are recruiting
CLEANERS!
If you are interested, please apply on eteach.com
OR collect an application pack from either of our
offices.
The deadline date is
Friday 3rd January.
PARKING REMINDERSadly, we are yet again receiving complaints
regarding dangerous parking in and around the
school grounds.
PLEASE be respectful and mindful of the safety of our
pupils, staff and local residents.
We are aware of this being an ongoing issue and
encourage any complains to be emailed or brought
into the school office. These will then be passed onto
our Chair of Governors, Mr Lee Matts.
A huge congratulations and well done to Mrs Hill for attaining our Primary
Science Quality Mark! She had a lovely, well deserved evening at the
PSQM awards on Friday.
Please take the time to admire the award in our trophy cabinet (located
next to the lift @ the Juniors) the next time you are visiting!

Nursery Decorations MorningThe Hummingbirds Christmas craft
session was a huge success. The
children loved showing off all of their
creativity and skills to their family. It was
wonderful to see the children and adults
interacting together, socialising and
singing along to the music!
Thank you to all the family members for
joining us!
Friday
flair
In the Juniors, has been such a
success we have had parents
asking about the ‘showcase’ and
how they can see it.
There will a drop in session after
school on the Friday, where parents
can chat with the Friday Flair leader
and watch, on an IPad on the board,
what your child/ren has been doing
and how they have been fostering
and developing their talents.
