Remembrance All Pupils took part in the two-minute silence on Monday, to honour those who fight on
behalf of our country. Our Y6 pupils visited Rugeley Cenotaph - leading the ceremony
for all schools, what a credit to our school they all were. With thanks to Rugeley British
Legion for organising this important community event, and to you all for purchasing
items in support of this.
Parent Forum Thank you to all parents who joined Mrs Blankley for our first Parent Forum
Meeting of 2019/20. It was agreed that the format of these meetings remain
‘informal’ enabling other parents to drop-in at any time. Parents in attendance
agreed to having their names shared, in order that you can approach them to
share feedback to the forum: Mrs Emma Davies, Ms Kelly Spencer, Ms Perdita
Lawton, Ms Katie Jones and Mrs Melita McNicholls. The next Parent Forum
Meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 17th December, 9.00 to
10.00am; please do feel free to attend - or send your feedback via any of the
members named above. Thank you.

and 2 nights), returning on Wednesday 1st April. The cost
of this visit will be £90* available on ParentPay.
If your child cannot attend, you should have already informed
school; any cancellations will now be charged 30% of the total
fee. If school is informed of your child’s non-attendance after 29th
January 2020 this will increase to 60% of the cost.
Y6 will visit Laches Wood on Monday 15th June (for 5 days
and 4 nights), returning Friday 19th June. The cost of this
visit will be £245* (to include transport), available on
ParentPay soon.
If your child cannot attend, please inform school before 18th
November - after this date you will be charged 30% of the total
fee. If school is informed of your child’s non-attendance after 29th
March 2020 this will increase to 60% of the cost.
More details available nearer the time. Cancellations
after the given deadline will result in parents being
charged a minimum 30% of the overall cost.
After School Clubs - UPDATE! We will continue to offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs this half-term, including:
KS1/2 Musical Theatre (now open to ALL year groups) - Monday after-school, (cost involved, book via Progressive Sports
Website)
Y5/Y6 Football & KS2 Running Club - will take a break until spring term.
All after-school clubs finish at 4.30pm.
We would like to thank our hardworking staff for giving up their own time, to offer Chancel children the opportunity
to attend these clubs. In the event that a club cannot go ahead, staff always ensure parents are made aware. Please
could we request that you extend our staff the same courtesy, ensuring they are made aware if your child cannot
attend a club for any reason - thank you.
Proposed 2021 Visit to France - NEWS! Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting
regarding the proposed visit to France in 2021. All
parents in attendance were keen for this visit to go
ahead, with the majority opting for a weekend visit
(Friday to Monday) in March - as this reduced the overall
costs to parents, while proving beneficial to the school
and all staff involved. Although exact costs have yet to be
agreed, this visit will potentially now cost in the region of
£340, which will include all travel, board, lodgings, visits
and a visit to Disneyland Paris! If you would be
interested in your child joining their classmates on this
visit, we are asking for a non-refundable £50 deposit to
be paid by no later
than Friday 14th
February, available to
pay via ParentPay.
Garden Club Fundraising Each Tuesday after-school, Mr Blankley will be selling: new, nearly new and used (clean) uniform
items at bargain prices. All funds raised from sales of these uniform items (T-Shirts, school bags,
coats, sweat-shirts, cardigans…) will go towards Gardening Club equipment; the first item this club
would like to purchase is a poly-tunnel for the school grounds, enabling the pupils to plant and
grow produce in all seasons. If you would like to support gardening club, while grabbing yourself a
bargain - please visit the front lobby, Tuesday after school, 3.30 to 4.00pm.
Our Future Planet We are all incredibly proud of our Y6 pupil Katie H, who loves wildlife. After hearing that the Green
Party are putting Climate Change before Brexit, she has joined the Youth Green Party. Katie will be
doing work in our school and community, in support of this, starting with a meeting at St Augustine’s
on 26th November at 4.30pm (Katie’s poster is on display outside the church). Children will also be
bringing Katie’s personally designed flyers home. Please help us to support Katie with this fantastic cause.

We will then find out about the movements of the Earth, Moon and Sun and learn why we have seasons, leap
years and lunar phases. The session finishes with an inspirational flight through space. All of this is relevant to our
current science topic and aims to inspire and teach the children about our world and beyond. All children will need

Diabetes UK Following the diagnosis of a Y6 pupil with Type-1
Diabetes, a group of our Y6 children decided to raise
funds on behalf of Diabetes UK. We would like to say a
huge well done to these pupils for showing care and
concern for others, and for giving up their own time to
bake ’sugar free’ cakes while raising £50 for this cause.
Anti-Bullying Week Mrs Corbett organised activities to take place this week
in support of anti-bullying week; all children were invited
to wear odd socks yesterday. Please do encourage your
child to talk to you, or a member of staff, about bullying,
whether it be personal bullying, or the bullying of others
- helping us to stamp out this unwanted behaviour.
Pupil Wellbeing As a school that takes the wellbeing of its pupils
very seriously, we have several initiatives in
support of wellbeing, including: worry boxes,
feelings flowers, circle time, Massage,
assemblies, PSHE, Workshops and access to a
Nurture Counsellor. Chancel staff closely
monitor children, identifying when they appear
‘out of sorts’ or withdrawn - offering support
and a listening ear. If you are worried about
your child, please do not hesitate to get in touch
and we will be more than happy to help.
