A remedial activity for specific learners with different instructional levels has been planned as additions to the regular assignment. Comment: One remedial activity must be planned in addition for the regular assignment(s). A description must be included of the activities in which the remainder of the students will be engaged while the remediation is being provided. A remedial activity is designed to correct learner difficulty(ies) which may be evident after learners complete a regular assignment. Since the need for remediation depends on learner performance on the regular activity(ies), the planned remedial activity may or may not be used. More of the same activity(ies) planned for the regular assignments is not acceptable. The teacher must identify the relevant characteristic of the target group of learners, e.g., a remedial activity for learners who missed more than half the items on the regular assignment. Remediation activities planned as homework is not acceptable. [BEAST, p. 10] D. An enrichment activity for specific learners with different instructional levels has been planned as additions to the regular assignment. Comment: One enrichment activity must be planned in addition to the regular assignment(s). A description must be included of the activities in which the remainder of the learners will be engaged while the enrichment is being provided. An enrichment activity is designed to broaden or deepen the learners’ knowledge after they have acquired the basic content. Since the need for enrichment depends on learner performance on the regular activity(ies), the planned enrichment activity my or may not be used. More of the same activity(ies) planned for the regular assignment(s) is not acceptable. The teacher must identify the relevant characteristic of the target group of learners, e.g., an enrichment activity for those who got all the items correct. Enrichment activities planned as homework is not acceptable. [BEAST, p. 10] Explanation: These are two activities for students who need remediation or would benefit from lesson extension on one objective in your lesson. Do not be misled by the terms “with different instructional levels” in the descriptor. You will not know which students would benefit or need enrichment and/or remediation until the lesson is complete. Hence, “the planned ….activity may or may not be used”. You will specify the enrichment and remedial ACTIVITY for ONE objective on ONE day only. These two activities will be written in the “Procedures/Activities” section of your lesson plan for that day.  An easy way to describe the activities of the other learners while the enrichment or remedial activity is planned is to conduct the two activities simultaneously. Example: Day 3 Activities/Procedures REMEDIAL ACTIVITY for students who did not meet requirements for Objective 3. Students will engage in a listing activity after reviewing a short video on …. ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY for students who met the requirements for Objective 3. Students will be assigned to complete the enrichment Learning Center 1 on ……. NOTE: Do not forget to highlight the words REMEDIAL and ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY in your lesson plan.
