PARISHIONER INFORMATION UPDATE – In an effort to keep the Parish Office current and running as efficiently as possible, we are asking all Holy Angels families to complete a form with your current contact information; including address, phone and e-mail. These forms will be placed in the pews at all December 9 and December 16 weekend Masses. Forms will be collected at the doors of church as you exit. Even if you believe your information to be current, please complete the form so we can cross reference with the information in our system. We appreciate your help in keeping our records current.

RORATE CAELI MASS – On December 15, Fr. Langenkamp will be celebrating a “Rorate” Mass at 7:00 a.m. in addition to the normally scheduled 8:00 a.m. Saturday Mass. The Rorate Caeli Mass is a traditional Advent devotion wherein the Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Advent is offered just before dawn. The Mass is lit only by candlelight; the contrast of light and darkness speak to the meaning of Advent and the coming of the Light of the world. The Mass takes its title, Rorate Caeli, from the first words of the Introit, which are from Isaiah 45:8 “Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum, aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem.” “Drop down dew, you heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour.”

Please Note: This Mass was traditionally offered in the extraordinary form, but Saturday’s morning Mass will be offered in the ordinary form, primarily in Latin with some English.

MAN OF GODWOODSMAN PROJECT "ESTO VIR!"

The Woodsman Project is a father-son endeavor that seeks to encourage fathers in their mission to raise their sons in becoming a true Man of God. It does this by employing two means. The first, and by far the most critical, is to help equip each young man with the fundamental spiritual skills essential to developing his ability to become the man God has created him to be. The second is to provide opportunities for each young man to gain a broad range of traditional woodsman's skills to aid in the on-going growth in the authentic masculine identity. The next meeting date is this Sunday, December 9, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Please contact the parish office at 498-2307 or visit the Man of God website at manofgodohio.org for additional information.

SPIRITUAL MOTHERHOOD OF PRIESTS – The Archdiocese is encouraging women to consider becoming a spiritual mother to one priest or seminarian of our Archdiocese. Prayer for priests and seminarians has been proven to be effective throughout the history of the Church and we would like all women of the parish

to take a packet of materials located in the back of church and begin praying for your new spiritual son. For more information about this apostolate, please visit www.cincinnativocations.org/additional-resources/spiritual-motherhood-of-priests/. PRAY FOR OUR PRIESTS!

SAINT OF THE WEEK

ST. JOHN OF THE CROSSSt. John of the Cross was born John de Yepes at Fontiveros, a town between Salamanca and Avila, located in Spain. His father had been disowned by his family for marrying beneath his social class. However, John’s father died before John was one year old and as a result, his mother moved to Medina del Campo in order to earn a living. There, John studied under the Jesuits and also served as an apprentice for various trades, ending up as a male nurse.John entered the Carmelite Order in 1563, and after his novitiate, was sent to Salamanca for further studies. When he returned to Medina del Campo for his first Mass, he met St. Teresa of Avila, who convinced him to join her movement for the reform of the Carmelite friars and nuns. John threw himself wholeheartedly into the work of the reform, which eventually resulted in the separation of the Discalced Carmelites from the Calced Carmelites. He suffered persecution from the Calced Carmelites, even to the point of being kidnapped and held prisoner at Toledo. After holding numerous important positions among the Discalced Carmelites and after writing his major treatises and poems in mystical theology – The Ascent of Mount Carmel, The Dark Night of the Soul, The Spiritual Canticle, The Living Flame of Love – he died at Ubeda, as he had predicted, just as the friars were beginning the midnight Office. His feastday is December 14.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS GREETINGS HOLY ANGELS FAMILY! Our

school and PSR children are busy preparing for Advent and the coming of the Christ Child. Classroom activities and lessons relate to preparing our hearts and homes for Him. Students grades 3 and up are receiving

reconciliation from our priests in preparation for the Christmas Season.

DID YOU KNOW? Advent comes from the Latin word meaning "coming?" Jesus is coming, and Advent is our season to prepare for His arrival! As Catholics, we typically regard this as a JOYOUS season. This is a time to prepare much like our Lenten Season. Prayer, penance and fasting are all appropriate. The color of purple is associated with Advent as the color is associated with penance. The color of the Third Sunday of Advent is rose. Rose represents joy and the happiness we will experience when Jesus comes again. Sundays in Advent are always a day to celebrate. Now is the time to create your own family traditions around the Advent Season. Our Lord, Jesus Christ is coming and let us REJOICE!

HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL NEWSBlessings from our principal, Mrs. Beth Spicer

On Wednesday, November 7, during National Vocation Awareness Week, the students were blessed by a visit from Mother Margaret Mary and Sister Faustina Maria from the religious order Children of Mary, a Community in the service of the Church to satiate the Thirst of Jesus to be loved in the Most Blessed Sacrament. The students were amazed to learn that Mother Margaret Mary, foundress of the Children of Mary, grew up here and attended Holy Angels Parish and

School herself! Mother and Sister spent the day with us visiting classrooms of each of the grades, sharing with the children about their vocation and life as a religious. like to visit them. Thank you, Mother Margaret Mary and Sister Faustina Maria, for coming to visit us!
