RELIGION LESSON Week 8
Yellow Kindness Day: Helping Others
May 19th is National Yellow Day, which represents kindness. Our religion lesson
will be focused on showing kindness through helping others.
What does it mean to be helpful? Being helpful means giving aid or assistance to
someone or something. An example would be helping mom set the dinner table,
helping pick up a pencil that someone dropped, or comforting a friend when they
are sad because someone else is playing with the toy they wanted to use. Below is
a bible verse about helpfulness and talk about what it means to children:
Bible: “[Help others] with all the strength and energy that God supplies.” I Peter 4:11,
NLT
Little Helpers: Though I am young, I can do lots for others. I can
help my parents, my sisters, my brothers.
You might think you are too young to really be much help to anyone. After all, you
probably still need help with lots of things yourself. But you can be more help than
you think! When you play with your little brother, you are helping him feel loved.
When you get yourself dressed in the morning, you are helping your parents save
time. Every little thing you do for others helps them more than you know.
Questions in SeeSaw:
1. What are some examples of how people can show their helpfulness?
2. Why is it important for people to be helpful?
3. We have talked about being helpful to the planet, small animals, and mom.
Can you think of something you can do this week to be helpful to your
family?
Color the attached pages of Jesus helping others by sharing bread and of children
showing kindness by being helpful to others. On the pages with the children, write
down what you think they are doing (it is okay to get help from a family member).
