3.3 Multi Device Group Enhancement Three new aspects have been performed to improve the usability of the Multi Device Group Function:

1) Function key/Service code to enable/disable MDG operation 2) Emergency calls allowed from any terminal when busy 3) Userpro allows changes to MDG members

Function Key/Service Code There is a new function key and service code available to allow control of the Multi Device Group (MDG). This key or service code can be used by any of the members of the group to enable or disable the whole group (turning the MDG On or Off). An example can be seen below where although the 3 extensions are configured in system programming as members of the MDG group belonging to Extension 100, Extension 102 can press the function key (or dial the service code) and the all extensions become standalone for that group.

The function key lights when the MDG is on, is off when MDG off.

Emergency Call from Busy Group The operation of an MDG is as a single user therefore giving a busy status when one of the phone in the group is already in use. It was not possible to call out from the any of the other phones in the group, as the Owner (user) of the group is already on the phone. However with the release of R4 it will be possible to dial out from any of the phones regardless of the group state, if the number dialled is for the emergency services. The example below shows 3 phones in a group (1), Extension 100 is in use (2), so the group is busy. However at extension 102, an emergency call can still be made (3).

Userpro allows changes to MDG members On previous SV9100 versions, the MDG had to be setup in system programming by the Installer or System Administrator. On R4 this is now possible by the user themselves by logging into Userpro. Example below shows the new area and the ability to change the members within your group.

The user presses the key and then makes a call, the number behind the key will be sent out as the CLI. Once the key is pressed the number will be sent for all subsequent calls until the key is pressed again (setting back to default CLI for the extension) or another key is pressed. The key will light red when enable and will be off when unselected. Note: Emergency calls will not follow this feature as needs to be a CLI specifically tied to that office.
