Second Life is a 3-D virtual community imagined and created by it’s residents. It has a real economy, property ownership, and avatars (powered by people) that engage in many real-life as well as virtual-life interactions and activities.
As of Jan 2009 the site has grown to more than 15 million accounts: individuals, corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

Just like in the real world, RFLofSL is a fun-filled overnight event where individuals and team members take turns on the track.Avatars donate Linden dollars.Funds are raised at the event by:
•Relay virtual items•Official donation kiosks •Luminarias
2009 RFLofSL : July 18-19
Any fundraiser that can happen in the real world can be created in Second Life.
Users can create events that are physically impossible in the real world.
Users with molbility challenges can attend from home.
Second Life has no borders, currently ACS has established several SL connections in other countries. Teams can be comprised of members from around the country and around the world.
The community is already in place. We are simply adapting our communication method to the needs of our constituents and reaching a new demographic with the same message and life saving mission.
Second Life has the challenge of overcoming the perception that it is a game. This IS the next evolution of the Interactive Web and Social Networking. Get in or get left behind!
Why Second Life?
A new beginning…
