ABOUT THE PROGRAMThis program specifically caters for students interested in studying Political Science and International Relations. It will help students grow into capable and competitive global citizens and to assist them to develop a sound understanding of politics and international relations based on working theory and approaches used in Australia.The course provides students with a broad introduction to international relations theory, engaging the main conceptual approaches, such as realism, liberalism, and critical theory. Students will discuss how these theories might be applied to real world politics and affairs.
The program includes visits to:• Queensland Parliament House• Parliament House of the Commonwealth of Australia in Canberra• Brisbane Convention Centre• National Portrait Gallery and Museum.
The program will be delivered in conjunction with presenters from UQ’s School of Political Science & International Studies, ranked #1 in Australia for International Politics in the 2015 TRIP survey and equal first in Australia for Research (ERA 2015).Presentations and guest speakers will also be included from organisations such as the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC), Asia Pacific Centre for Responsibility to Protect, and government sponsored trade organisations such as The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) who support Australian businesses, education institutions, tourism operators and governments as they develop international markets and education.

The University of Queensland’s (UQ) Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) is offering students a unique opportunity to discover Australia’s working theories on international relations in conjunction with the UQ School of Political Science & International Studies.

YOUR ITINERARY
WEEKS 1 + 2 , BRISBANE, UQ & CANBERRA
ACCOMMODATIONBrisbane - Accommodation will be in homestay and single placement. Double placements can be arranged where requested and each participant will have their own bedroom. Please note students from other nationalities may be at the same homestay. Homestay accommodation provides breakfast and dinner on weekdays and breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekends.
Canberra - Hotel or hostel style accommodation will booked for the Canberra component of the program.
PROGRAM COSTAUD$3,250 per person based on a group of 15 participants.
Inclusions: Airport transfers (local), all lectures, activities and site visits and accommodation as above.Exclusions: Weekday lunches in Brisbane (approximately AUD$10 per day), meals in Canberra, public transport costs to and from campus (approximately AUD$7-$8 per day) and personal expenses.
Please note that the program prices above do not include international or domestic airfares or mandatory health and travel insurance.
LANGUAGE OF DELIVERYThe program will be delivered in English and participants are recommended to have a minimum English level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent to actively engage with this program. Interpreters are not included.
PROGRAM DATESMonday 17 July - Friday 28 July 2017 Participants should arrive in Brisbane on the Saturday or Sunday prior to the commencement of the program and depart the Saturday from Canberra.
PARTICIPANTSThis is a fixed-date program that is open to students from universities all over the world. Please note that a minimum of 15 enrolments are required for the program to proceed.
