Geld wechseln bzw. abheben am Flughafen:When at the airport, you can use either the Bureau de Change or an ATM of which there are two. ATM's frequently run out of money of Friday and weekends and are not stocked up again until the following week. You will probably be given large notes so ask for smaller denominations for bus/taxi. When bringing paper currency into Morocco (U.S. Dollars, British Pounds, Euros etc.), these must be in near perfect condition - no tears or ink marks.

1b) Imi-n-Ifri Naturbrücke: 113km, 1h50min ab Flughafen:Abzweig R307 von R210 bei Demnate, 6km hinter Demnate bei Kreuzung R302/307

We were staying nearby and walked to this bridge. In the cool of the late afternoon we walked down the 300 steps to the gorge below, through the enormous archway and climbed up the steps on the other side.

A spectacular site which seems much untouched- a natural bridge with interesting rock formations. Please be aware there are many steps down to the bottom of the valley so will be unsuitable for disabled/wheelchair access. Visitors can see both sides of the bridge which vary in their structure- very difficult to describe! You will see black crows swooping in and out of the rocks, pigeons too, all with the backdrop of water cascading down through the higher rocks, creating pools on the rocks below.

Gorgeous Lord of the Rings experience for a hike. You encounter sheep, goats and donkeys along the way. Many steps down into the canyon with awesome views. You will see cool birds, stalactites, caves and an amazing natural arch that looks like the map of Africa. There is scrambling and moderate climbing skills required to do this but if you can its so worth the effort. Wear good shoes, take water.

We found it easiest to start the path from the entrance furthest from Demnate, this direction most of the rock climbing is in a descending fashion.

2) Ouzoud Wasserfälle: 165km, 2h39min (ab Flughafen via R210) – 1h15min ab Imi-n-IfriStrecke: N8 – R210 – R304 – P3105

Je nach Ankunftszeit entweder an den Rand der Fälle mit Vogelperspektive (rechts) oder links zur ersten Aussichtsplattform. Essen entweder in der Stadt (oder bei linker Variante einem Restaurant am Weg) oder im Hotel.

TAG 2: Donnerstag, 16.031) Ouzoud Wasserfälle – Circle Walk ca. 1,5 – 2 Stunden. Rechter Hand beginnen (rechts vom Wasserfall und über Wasserfall (siehe Beschreibung).Gleich nach Sonnenaufgang auf den Weg machen, evtl. vorher Frühstücken je nach Zeit.Sunrise 6:45 Uhr, Sunset 18:45 Uhr

Auf einem gut ausgebauten Weg mit vielen Verkaufsständen und Einkehrmöglichkeiten erreicht man eine Aussichtsplattform mit tollem Blick auf die Fälle. Eine zweite Plattform gibt es direkt unterhalb der Wasserfälle. Eine Bootsfahrt lohnt sich nicht, dafür der Aufstieg über einen Steg auf die andere Seite der Fälle hinauf.

Ein Highlight waren definitiv die wild lebenden, aber sehr zahmen Affen. Es gibt 1-2 Männer die kostenlose Erdnüsse verteilen, um die Affen anzulocken. Dann hüpfen die einem gerne mal auf die Schulter und sind äußerst amüsant.

Über den Wasserfällen ist ein Parkplatz von dem man bequem an den Rand der Fälle laufen kann. Von dort aus kann man eine kleine Wanderung (Dauer: 1,5 Stunden) beginnen, die einen vorbei an Olivenbäumen an den Fuß der Fälle und auf der anderen Seite wieder hinauf führt. Für etwa 1 Euro wird vor Ort eine kleine Bootsfahrt direkt bis unter den Fall angeboten.

There is no need to take the 'mountain path route' you can walk down the concrete steps!! I did not count them but have read there are 500 to 600 steps to get back to the car park.

Beautiful drive through the mountains. Beautiful view from the top. Great long walk through the mountain to get down (go to the right). Put some good shoes! Then enjoy lunch at a small restaurant with a Jamaican vibe! Amazing people there! Then jump of a cliff! Then take a walk to get to the waterfalls and go for swim! Water is great and refreshing. End your day by climbing the stairs through the market to leave beautiful memories behind you!

The boat ride is well worth the 20dh and high up the steps you can buy peanuts to feed the (semi) wild monkeys.

Just remember you can walk there yourself. When you walk to falls take the right hand path. ( you want to be on the right hand side of the falls. Left is the commercial side) Walk over about 3 little bridges. Come to a T in path. Right goes to village craft market. Go left. Walk along path. Get a few good photos of falls. Keep walking if your lucky another guide will take a group swimming just follow them. Guide usually has towel over his head. If no guide just follow path past orange juice sellers. Path takes a sharp right away from river. Here just walk straight ahead. You will find a rough but pretty well defined track. Locals will be walking down too. It's a good walk but not too far. You can see how far you are down by looking at the cliffs opposite. At bottom you will hit an open space. Keep left and follow tracks. Locals pretty helpful. Just keep following path. you will pass a few restaurants up the bank a bit. Go through these past camping area. You will be at river on your own. If you want when you hit resturant area. Head right to river. You will hit places on the river. Cool water. OJ. Some food. Not bad places to rest. Swimming holes good.

We began our excursion with a late lunch of delicious tagines and Moroccan tea at one of the cafes near the brink of the Cascades d'Ouzoud. We then walked in a counterclockwise loop with a stop at the brink of the falls (where we fought butterflies in our stomachs as we sought the best view possible without suffering a fatal fall from the dropoffs here). We then crossed over a bridge spanning the river Oued Tissakht, where we noticed some calm areas of the river further upstream where people were playing in the water. Then, the trail curved along with the rim of the canyon as it slowly went further from the falls while providing our first frontal views of it.

Next, the trail entered a little tree-lined area where we had some momentary relief from the intense sun. It was around the vegetation that we noticed some kind of small scale agriculture going on. Then, the concrete ended as the trail descended alongside hand-dug ditches and smaller springs before we'd eventually get to the bottom of the canyon. Once down there (taking us about an hour from the start of our walk to the bottom of the canyon Wadi el-Abid), we took a break at the Cafe de Panorama des Cascades where we managed to get direct angular views of the falls dwarfing the bridges, people, and structures fringing the waterfall's big plunge pool. It seemed like a suitable place to chill out and have some Moroccan mint tea before continuing on.

Then, the trail undulated before descending right to the bridges spanning the Oued Tissakht (though LP referred to this river as the Oued Ouzoud). On the other side of the river, there were many cafes and souvenir stalls, and they would pretty much line the majority of the remainder of the walk. In any case, we managed to catch a few rainbows as well as some of its refreshingly cool spray to offset the hot weather at some of the shady and misty lookouts in the area. It was also down here that it seemed like most of the visitors were concentrated, which provided an atmosphere all its own.

Once we had our fill of this bustling part of the visit, we then climbed up a series of steps and uphill trails, which essentially ascended alongside the height of the Cascades d'Ouzoud's multi-tiered drop. A few spur trails led to additional lookouts that got us even closer to the wall of water of the main drop, and I even noticed a handful of visitors who managed to get behind the main drop of Cascades d'Ouzoud by sheltering in the travertine alcoves the falls had left behind over time.

Eventually at the end of the climb, which by the way was flanked by even more souks, there was one last spur trail to our right, which ultimately led us to an overlook that provided us with a broad contextual view of Cascades d'Ouzoud and the cliffs encompassing the gorge below. There were quite a few monkeys (possibly Babary Apes or some kind of orange macaques) also sharing the overlook with the handful of visitors who managed to get to this spot. The monkeys lingered here mostly because they knew there'd be some people providing them with human food handouts. Clearly this was not a healthy practice for neither the monkeys nor the people who might get attacked from aggressive monkeys used to such handouts so we made sure Tahia stayed close to us while we were here.

Finally, we went full circle as we continued on a gently uphill course as we continued from the last overlook and returned to the cafe that we had lunch at. All that was left between this and the car park was a short walk across the narrow plaza. Overall, our visit took nearly four hours, which included a late lunch as well as a tea break after the hike was over. We also took our time on the loop trail given how hot it was on the afternoon of our visit, especially since we were quite exposed to the sun for most of our walk. At least our guide knew where the shadows would be so our counterclockwise loop meant that the climb back up to the top was totally in the shade.

Make sure to head to the rooftop. Go in the morning when there are fewer people. It stands in the heart of the medina, its visit is free. You can admire the courtyard, then walk up to the first floor entering the small rooms of the students. But the best thing is going on the terrace, aside the tower bell of the big mosquee; you'll admire the panorama of medina's roofs of Meknes.The entrance is a bit hidden, behind very old doors.

Royal Stables:Stables for 12,000 horses? Wow! The ruins are worth the visit. The area is large and there are some great photo opportunities. Right next to the granary which was also interesting. This is worth the time. Should only take 30-45 minutes at the most

The huge Heri el Souani granary: This large 17th-century high-vaulted building served both as a granary and feed store for the 12,000 steeds in Moulay Ismail’s vast stables. These chambers are immense – Moulay Ismail was always ready for a siege or drought. Take the stairs to the pleasant rooftop café-garden, with a fine view of the city and the huge Aguedal Basin, once used to irrigate the imperial city’s gardens. The remains of Moulay Ismail’s stables are attached to the granary.

Many people will offer help to find your way, for a price, and regardless of whether or not you look confident

The Medina has a peculiar smell that must be a mix between donkey shit, trapped heat, bread baking, mint tea and age

1) Talaa Kebira – rote Route laut Karte mit Souks und historischen Gebäuden(laut Reiseführer ist diese Route mit dunkelblauen Sternen markiert)

Stroll the Talaa Kebeera – Talaa Kebeera is the largest “street” in Fez. It begins shortly after Bab Boujeloud, the large, blue gate marking one of the main entrances to Fez, and continues on through the much of the medina. Many different shops, souks and sights are located just off this main artery. Though often crowded by locals and tourists alike, it is a nice taste of old Fez.

- Glockenspielhaus- Cafe Clock (9-23 Uhr): Mittagessen/Tee trinken auf Dachterrasse (vielleicht auch am Abend) – eher Fleisch und Burger als marokkanisch- evtl. Medersa Bou Inania- Streetfood auch entlang der talaa kebira- Nejjarine-Platz mit Tischler-Souks und BrunnenACHTUNG: Beim Funduq Nejjarine-Holzmuseum kann man direkt links des Eingangs zum Museum auf die Dachterrasse eines Ladens steigen, um einen Blick auf die Gerbereien von Sidi Moussa zu werfen. Maison De Cuir?- Henna Souk, Gewürzsouk (Suq Attarine), Kissaria (gedeckter Markt)- Zaouia des Moulay Idris II (grünes Dach, kein Zutritt) und Karaouyine Moschee (auch kein Zutritt, aber einmal herumspazieren mit Blick in den Funduq Tattawine)- Medersa Attarine – in der Nähe ist das Teppichhaus Dar el Mansour (17, Derb Sidi Bouzza Blida)- weiter ins Gerberviertel

2) Tanneries Chouwara: hellblaue Route

We were able to find the tannery with out any trouble . Just follow the light blue route.Am besten die Runde laut Karte abspazieren (rue chouwara, derb touil, rhabet el raiss), die dann zurück zur Moschee Karaouyine führt. Am Weg sollte hier auch ein Weberhaus liegen (derb touil) und das Teppichhaus Dar el Mansour (siehe oben).

Am besten sieht man die Färberei vom Balkon eines Lederwarengeschäftes aus. Am Eingang bekamen wir einen Pfefferminzzweig, den man wegen des intensiven Geruchs des gegerbten Leders auch braucht. Im Laden schöne Lederwaren ohne zu aufdringliche Verkäufer.

Wir wurden von einem total netten Lampenverkäufer zu einem wunderschön ausgebauten Gebäude, in dem es alles aus Leder gab, gebracht. Zunächst gabs eine kleine Führung auf dem Dach mit tollem Blick auf die restaurierte Gerberei. Mit Minze ist der Geruch für empfindliche Menschen gut zu ertragen. Ansonsten stinkt es halt - aber man stirbt nicht :-)

3a) Theoretisch könnte man dann über die Talaa Seghira zum Hotel zurück.3b) Place Seffarine – Place R’sif – Talaa Seghira (braune Route)

1) Borj Sud: schöner Ausblick auf die Medina von Fes1a) schnellste Route über N6/N8 (5km, 12min)1b) schöne Route („Tour de Fes“) nordöstlich um die Stadt (7km, 15min) – bevorzugt!

2) Strecke Fes - Ifrane: 1h30min, 72km ab Borj Sud (über Ave. Hassan II und N8 – Route Imouzer)

Am Weg:- eventuell bei McDonald’s oder Parkplatz lt. Legzira Beach ist der mit Abstand vollste Strand der Region, hierher kommen auch sehr viele einheimische Touristen. Die eindrucksvollen Bögen können aber entspannt besichtigt werden, da sich die meisten Urlauber am vorderen Strandabschnitt aufhalten, wo diverse Restaurants ganz gutes Essen servieren.

Legzira was once one of the most beautiful beaches in Morocco. The site is still special with a rock island beyond the waves and one of its photogenic arches still standing farther down the beach. But Legzira has now fallen prey to a range of things aimed at enticing tourists from rental tents to dune buggies. One of the iconic earth and stone arches fell down in 2016 and the remaining one is unstable. There are also restaurants and a few small hotels, probably all built illegally. Above the beach a development of one-story houses covers the bluff. Thankfully they are invisible from the beach below. If you want a more deserted beach head further south. Still worth a visit but the beach has lost its charm.

For those without someone to meet them at the airport there are two main options for the transfer into the city, a bus or a taxi. There is a special airport bus that takes passengers into town and can be asked to stop at the main hotels. This is cheap, convenient, and probably the best option unless you have a large amount of luggage. The bus only makes the journey during the day so passengers arriving or departing late at night or very early in the morning will need to make alternative arrangements. The bus is numbered 19 and departs from just outside the arrival hall. In Marrakech all the usual rules about caution when hiring a taxi at the airport apply, but with extra emphasis on them all. Touts will approach newly arrived visitors from all directions and can be very forceful, physical and loud. Never get into a taxi without agreeing a price to the destination first or ensuring that the metre is running. Bear in mind that the journey to the city centre, depending on the traffic, shouldn’t take much more than fifteen or twenty minutes. Drivers will happily quote prices ten times what they should be and they collude so that it can seem impossible to find a fair offer. Barter, bargain and beat them down, never be afraid of walking away. Visitors can almost always get a better price by walking out of the terminal area towards the main road. Taxis here are cheaper and less hassle. Some visitors even continue walking all the way into the city.

Airport Shuttle (Bus 19): The fare is now 30dh one way, 50dh return within two weeks, change is available. The driver is helpful and speaks English. Let him know which hotel you are at and ask him to remind you when to get off. It’s probably worth sitting near the front of the bus so that you can hear him call out. This is a circular route, so for the return journey go back to the same stop you got off at. The bus goes first to Djemaa el Fna (stopping at hotels on the way) then stops at more hotels on the return loop to the airport. The journey time from the airport to Djemaa el Fna is about 20 minutes, then about another 40 minutes to complete the loop back to the airport. There are two or three buses per hour.

Come out of the airport doors and go across the parking area, the bus stop is just to the left, no need to cross the road. There is a large lit up poster with a picture of the bus and bus times. Buses depart on the hour and half hour.The driver may stop as close to the hotel as he possibly can if you tell him where you are staying; surprisingly some bus drivers do speak English.If you just miss the bus you may have to wait quite a time during which you will be hassled by taxi drivers, just say no thank you or La Shokran and ignore them.

The city of Marrakech’s public transport bus service is operated by a Spanish company called Alsa.  Alsa provides an Airport Bus service (Bus no. 19) for transferring from the Marrakech Menara airport to the medina (ancient city) and Gueliz (new city) of Marrakech.  Bus number 19 is definitely the least expensive method of airport transfer, at 30 dirhams for a one-way ticket, or 50 dirhams if you commit to a return ticket at time of initial purchase. The bus service is provided 7 days a week, and according to the schedule on the Alsa website, service commences at 06h15 and ends at 21h30, with service every 30 minutes.  Allow 30 minutes if catching the bus from the medina to the airport. The bus will make several stops along the route – key stops are at Place Jemaa el Fna in the medina, and also the Marrakech train station / Gare de train in the new town.

ACHTUNG: Jedes Foto am Djamaa el-Fna kostet Geld, angemessen sind 5DH, nicht mehr als 10 DH (1 Euro) zahlen. Grundsätzlich kann man auch Euros geben. Aggressive Reaktionen bei heimlichen Schnappschüssen. Filmen?

3) Kutubiya-Moschee und Garten: Fotostopp und kurze Entspannung abseits vom Trubel

4) Südliche Medina:- Rue Riad Zitoun el Kedim (mündet in den Bab el Mellah)- Bab el Mellah: Souk der Juweliere, Eingang zur Mellah (Judenviertel) mit dem Mellah-Markt (Gewürze sind hier am günstigsten zu kaufen), Place des Ferblantiers (Lampenmacher), Marché couvert, Kosybar (evtl. am späten Abend, mit Dachterrasse, Alkohol und Live-Musik)- Kasbahviertel bis zum Café Clock (wenn Lust: Saadier-Gräber, aber eigentlich nicht so toll)- Bab Agnaou- über Fußgängerzone Rue Bab Agnaou retour zum Djamaa el-Fna bzw.
