LICENSURE:-

It is the process by which an agency of state government grants permission to an individual to engage in a given profession, upon finding that applicant has attained the essential degree of competency necessary to perform a unique scope of practice.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING:-

1. No person acting alone or jointly with any person shall establish, conduct or maintain a nursing service agency in the state without holding a license.

2. No agency shall hold itself or represent itself as a nursing service agency or other similar terms in its advertising, publicity or any other form of communication, unless registered with department of health or licensed as nursing service agency.

3. There should be a licensed central office within geographical boundaries of the state.

4. Within 24 months of initial licensure, the nursing service agency shall attain appropriate certification from an accreditation agency.

SUSPENSION OR REVOACTION

A License or registration can be suspended or revoked by councils of nurses if conduct of nurse violates provisions containing in licensor structure.

Suspension is the temporary denial of the right to practice nursing.

Revocation is the permanent withdrawal of permission to practice nursing. It is instituted when nurses found guilty of gross immorality, illegal activity or malpractice.

RENEWAL / REPEAT REGISTRATION

1.IN INDIA RENEWAL IS RECOMMENDED TO EVERY 5 YEARS.

2. PRACTICE IN MOST OF DEVELOPED COUNTRIES IS:-

Renewal of one’s license about every 2 years with the payment of fee each time.

Some agencies grant renewal only when applicant has a. Worked for certain hours in last year. b. taken no. of hours of continue education. c. passed an exam conducted by nursing boards.
