Regular Classes resumed from the 22nd after a long disruption of school due to the ongoing political disturbance in the

country.

Wednesday, 4th Feb - Mr.Harsh Wal (Principal) & Mrs.Madhu Wal (Vice Principal) & Mr.Mostafizur Rahman Mridha (IT

Manager & Board Exam Coordinator) attended a meeting at Westin Hotel, Dhaka organized by the British Council on

‘School Exams Project 2015’ followed by a session on “British Council Experience on Child Safeguarding”. The meeting

was followed by dinner.

Monday, 5th Feb - Ms. Charmaine Viljoen (Public Relations and Admissions Managers of ISD) visited DPS STS School Dhaka.

Ms. Charmaine Viljoen met with Principal and Vice Principal regarding The ISD Scholarship programme.

Saturday, 7th Feb- Mr. Faisal Kader (COO) STS conducted a training session for a cafeteria survey. Mr.Harsh Wal (Principal)

& Mrs.Madhu Wal (Vice Principal), Teachers (Samira Nafis, Wahida Tamanna,Kumkum Habiba Jahan, Emran Jamshed

Taher, Afsana Rifaya, Tanzeela Amin , Dominica Rodriguez) were present. The Training was organized in the Conference

Room followed by lunch.

Sunday, 14th Feb- Mr. Harsh Wal( Principal) & Mrs. Madhu Wal (Vice Principal) attended a meeting at STS Head office.

Wednesday, 26th Feb -Mr. Harsh Wal (Principal), Mr.Faisal Kader (COO), Mr.Giash Uddin CFO, attended a Managing

Committee Meeting in Delhi with the DPS Society.

Thursday, 26th Feb – Mostafizur Rahman Mridha (IT Manager & Board Exam Coordinator) went to ISD to attend a meeting

with Mr. Craig Salmon (CEO) and Mr. Lytton (IT Manager) of ISD regarding discussion on online learning tools.

Friday, 13th Feb & Saturday, 14th Feb – Professional Development courses at Oxford International School were attended

by eight teachers from IGCSE and A level for Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Business Studies.

Pre Primary Spring and Valentine’s Day Celebration

To celebrate the colorful season of spring, the children of Play Group wore yellow and orange attire. The children played and enjoyed the fresh sunny weather while they listened and danced in the classroom to the songs of spring. Finally, they made beautiful yellow coloured heart-shaped cards and everyone enjoyed the day thoroughly. On Valentine's Day all the children

and teachers came to school

wearing red outfits which really

made the day even brighter! The

young ones sang along to

Valentine’s Day songs in their

classrooms and made wonderful

square-shaped cards by pasting

hearts in the middle.

Aloha International Mental Arithmetic

Aloha Mental Arithmetic is a proven learning

program for children in the field of numerical

computational skills in Arithmetic. Arneesha

Affaan Chaklader ,Raone Ahsan Rajjo, Kashika

Haque Zaya and Aitana Ishtar of KG participated

in the Aloha International Mental Arithmetic

competition. Arneesha Affaan Chaklader won the

championship trophy. Raone Ahsan Rajjo won the

first runner-up trophy, and Aitana Ishtar and

Kashika Haque Zaya were awarded second

runners up.

On a different note, Anushri Roy Choudhury was awarded a certificate for the Completion of Mental Arithmetic by scoring 100

out of 100 at the ALOHA Institute.

International Mother Language Day Programme

Special Assembly was held at DPS STS School on 2 separate days Honoring the International Mother Language Day. On the

24th, the Pre Primary Section Celebrated the International Mother Language Day and on the 26th, the Primary and Senior

Sections paid their respects to the Fallen Soldiers.

The students wore White and Black Traditional Outfits as a tribute to the Fallen Soldiers of Bangla Language. The Honorable

Vice Principal Ma’am graced the programme with her presence as she placed a Bouquet in front of the Shaheed Minar.

The programme was outlined in several portions. It commenced with the Recitation of Surah Fatiha and then carried on to a Bangla Speech on the significance of International Mother Language Day. Once the Speech had been given, a translated version in English was also delivered highlighting the significance of 21st February. The speech was followed by the theme song ( Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushe February) as designated students individually placed flowers on the Shaheed Minar.

It was then followed by a Patriotic Dance titled, “Rokte Amar Abar Proloy Dola” where students ornamented an enthralling performance which was followed through with an Inspirational Song, “ Bhulbo Na February Ekushe.” The programme ended shortly after, with the national anthem.

Photography Exhibition

Bangabandhu Memorial Trust has taken the initiative to enlighten our young generation on the life and works of the father

of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through many cultural programmes and photography exhibitions.

DPS STS School Hosted a Photography Exhibition on the 7th of February commemorating the life and work of Father of the

Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Chief guest, Freedom Fighter Commodore Mr. AW Chowdhury Bir Uttam, Bir Bikram

and Mr. Tipu Munshi, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs and Director STS Group, and Ms .

Masura Hossain , CEO Bangabandhu Memorial Trust were present .

Pictures were posted all over the school’s basketball court which was then followed by a welcoming speech by Vice Principal

Ma’am illuminating the children about the history of the nation.

CEO of the BanagaBandhu Memorial Trust Ms. Masura Hossain also gave a short speech elaborating on certain events which

occurred during the Liberation War. Commodore Mr. A W Chowdhury (Bir Uttam Bir Bikram )a Veteran Naval Commando in

the Liberation War who also received the Bangladesh Gallantry Awards (Bir Uttam and Bir Bikram) for his valiant

contributions and efforts during the struggle for Independence gave a brilliant speech orchestrating the entire events during

the Independence .

On the 14th, DPS STS Students participated in a 7-a-side Football Match at ISD Basundhara. Students were divided into Two Groups, - Team A and Team B. Both Groups consisted of students aged under 16 from Grades 6 to 8. Team A Won the Trophy and became the champions while Team B was awarded with the title of Runners Up. Other schools that participated were Scholastica, BIT (Bangladesh International Tutorial), CIS ( Canadian International School), BIS ( Bangladesh International School) and ISD ( International School Dhaka).

On the 28th, DPS STS School participated in a friendly football match at Turkish Hope School. Players were divided into three categories. Category 1 consisted of students from Grades 4 to 6. Category 2 consisted of students from Grades 7 to 9 and Category 3 consisted of students from Grades 9 to 12. Students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the outcome was, Category 1 – 1st Match ( Draw), Category 2 – 2nd Match ( Loss to ITHS score 1-3) and Category 3 – 3rd Match ( Draw 1-1 with ITHS)
