The National Beta Club, the Board of Directors, National Staff and Offi cers welcome you to the Thirty-seventh Annual National Senior Beta Club Convention. We could not be more excited to have over 1,050 clubs to showcase their incredible talents.

Sponsors, administrators, chaperones, parents and special guests have dedicated countless hours of time and effort to be here. Welcome all, from around the nation to the beautiful Swan and Dolphin Hotel & Convention Center. Beta will go “Above and Beyond” with team competitions, talent extravaganzas, visual arts showcases and individual academic challenges.

This year, over 19,500 people join us for the largest National Convention in history. We thank you for all of your efforts to make Beta bigger and better in your schools and communities. Beta has been changing lives for over 80 years, and so do all of you who support and exemplify the four pillars: Service, Character, Leadership and Achievement.

In Beta service,

In describing the Beta organization, Taz says, “It is not all about academics, but helping humanity while making a difference. I have learned through Beta, that the world is full of different people. It is time that we step back and understand them.” After college grad-uation, he hopes to return home in Forest City, North Carolina, and establish a leadership foundation for young adults.

The convention host, the great state of Florida, is Ziah’s home state. Looking back on the year, Ziah holds each experience dearly. When asked for an outstanding memory, she recalls, “At one of the earliest conventions, after I gave my speech, these girls came up with tears in their eyes and just wanted a hug from me. I felt so honored and loved.” Ziah is one that is always open to meeting new people and embraces positive change.

Kilrain has spent the year bleeding black and gold as he travelled to many state conventions. “It is not one particular convention or one particular speech that stands out the most to me. It is the people. Just getting to listen to different people’s stories , their obstacles, and how they overcame them,” Kilrain refl ects. Service is an endless part of his experience with Beta. He encourages us all to serve, listen, and strive to be better.

STATE RALLY

Beta has a love for the rich history, heritage, and people of all the states that it rep-resents. From the fi rst char-tered club in Landrum, South Carolina, in the early 30’s to welcoming the states of Idaho and New Jersey to this 2017 National Convention, state pride illuminates throughout the clubs. Our state roots run deep and the Second General Session is your opportuni-ty to show that state pride.
