    On February 27, 2010 an earthquake of Mw Magnitude = 8.8 took place in the south-central area of Chile affecting localities from the V and XV Regions. Its epicenter wasestimated at 43 km south west of the locality of Cobquecura (VIII Region), Figure 2. The

    damage and casualties were concentrated mainly in the coastal zone from the V to theIX Regions.

    This report presents the records obtained by the strong motion network of theDepartment of Civil Engineering at stations located between the III and the XV Regions.These records were obtained with Kinemetrics Etna, QDR, SSA-2 or K2 orientedaccording to the geographical North and analog equipment Kinemetrics SMA-1 whose

    Azimuth between the North and the longitudinal direction of the equipment is known.

    The peak accelerations recorded are shown in Table 2, Figures 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

    The data were processed by means of an automatic processing system based on astandard software. The latter consists basically on the baseline correction of records and

    the filtering of high and low frequencies with a band pass filter of 0.15- 0.25 to 23.0-25.0Hz . This condition may not be satisfactory for some specific studies. The integration intovelocity and displacement is given only for records that present a peak accelerationhigher than 0.10 g. The acceleration response spectrum is presented for all records forcritical damping ratio of 0.00, 0.02, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.20. The highest accelerationrecorded was 916 cm/seg2 (0.935 g) in the North-South component of the AngolStation.
