ASSOCIATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL TEACHERS OF INDIA - is an association founded in 1966 by the pioneers of pharmacy education in India. Leading the association were personalities like Prof. M. L. Schroff, Prof. G. P. Srivastava and others, which has come a long way in creating better intercommunication and promotion of excellence in pharmacy education. Through its tailor-made mission and objectives, the association has provided a single platform in bringing together teachers of pharmacy education from all over the country. This has helped in the achievement of excellent standards and to develop new technological methods in pharmacy education through the exchange of views amongst the teaching members. The efforts of the Association in encouraging and supporting its members achieving such milestones have always been well appreciated. Every year APTI conducts conventions for teachers of pharmacy at different parts of India to connect and stay updated with them.

About the Conference
Objective of the Conference :
The practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical education are undergoing unprecedented
global changes. So, the use of a needs-based approach to education with an emphasis on
linking pharmacy education with the health needs of populations and national priorities are
required.
Therefore, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) should be locally determined, globally
connected, socially accountable and quality assured based on a clear description of
professional competencies, linked with health care needs.
In an era when decisions are taken on a global scale, it becomes even more important for
pharmacy students to engage in international opportunities that will contribute to social and
institutional cooperation. The capacity to provide pharmaceutical services globally is
dependent upon having a competent, adaptable and capable workforce, and a similarly
integrated academic workforce to train and support sufficient numbers of new registered
pharmacists and other support staff at both entry-to-practice and advanced levels.
Pharmacy and pharmaceutical education has to be designed so it can deliver the skills needed
by students to work in different pharmaceutical settings once qualified, there are many gaps to
be filled in pharmacy and pharmaceutical education worldwide and in order to mitigate these
issues undergraduate students must be taught with new methodologies to help them adapt to
real life problems in a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary way.
The objective of the brain-storming conference at Lloyd would be to engage in discussing and
solving such issues.
Challenges for global of
pharmacy practices relevant to education
competitiveness
Expected Outcomes :
Clear career pathways and training schemes to address the academic workforce in general, and a practitioner-academic workforce in particular.
Achieving sustainable solutions to the challenges surrounding pharmacy education.
Student-centric learning to impart the problem-solving skills and application of knowledge to real life problems.
Bridge the gap between pharmacy curriculum and global health needs.
Effective quality assurance of pharmacy and pharmaceutical education, and production of competent pharmacy graduates.
Development of professional curriculum to prepare pharmacy students for future innovations in personalised medicines, information systems, and team-based patient care.
Enhanced global experiences for pharmacy students by reaching out to faculty and maintaining international relationships, taking advantage of existing university services and relationships, and collaborating with other health professions programs and organisations.
