Following each organization's name is a brief synopsis of the particular group's purposes and goals. Included in many of the synopsis' is a mailbox and/or telephone .number which may be used to contact the group.

Bahai Club - To introduce interested persons to the basic tenets of the Bahai Faith and promote the elimination of all social, religious and racial prejudice. Bahai Information no. 372-1656.

Beta Alpha - To prepare accounting and finance students for the business world and to provide a social organization inclusive of professional programs, counseling and outings, 300 Prentis Bldg. 577-4488.

Chateau 633 f~Zormerly Delta Chi) - Under the auspices of past chapter members Delta Chi, Chateau 633 provides good convenient residence and fellowship for the Wayne State student who wishes to live and study on Wayne's campus.

Chi Epsilon - To place a mark of di~tinction upon the student of Civil Engineering ~mo examplifies the four traits of the successful engineer, the cornerstones upon 't'ihich Chi Epsilon is Founded~ Scholarship, Character, practicality and sociability.

Christian Science Organization - To elevate the level of thinking in the academic community to a better understanding of moral and spiritual values and o~ Godvs healing power. 692 Student Center Bldg. 577-3466.

Committee to Defend the Equal Rights Amendment - to educate people concerning the necessity of the Equal Rights Amendment; and to promote demonstrations picket lines, workshops and conferences that will help push the E.R.A. along to the ratifications needed in<four more states. The Consumer Advisory Council - CAC is a student run organization which seeks to help the Wayne Community with consumer problems. Among other topics, we are interested in current legislation, product safety, money and banking, business attitudes, and consumer protection mechinisms. We want to help the consumer with a problem and to help the consumer learn to avoid problems.

Delta Zeta Sorority - Delta Zeta is a national, social sorority which is based on friendship. Delta ZetaVs at Wayne State actively particpate in campus and community activities. Socially, we have mixers with the fraternities on campus. Our standards program encourages individual achievement. Philanthropy and service to others, especially working with agencies concerned with speech and hearing defects. Forensic Union - An academic and social organization whose purpose is to promote and encourage speech activities, such as debate, oratory, and contest speaking. 546 Manoogian Hall, 577-2946

Friends of Progressive Labor Party - To organize students to demand equal and better education, and to support anti-racist and pro-working class struggles. 893-7015, Box 41$ Student Center Bldg.

Gay Liberation Front - To offer information and services to gay students at Wayne State University. Rap groups held every Thursday night. For more information call the Gay Switchboard at 577-3450 (6-10 PM). Box 23, Student Ctr. Bldg.

German Cultural Club - The purpose of the club is to promote fellowship among students interested in learning about German culture. Club members are involved in German culture in both passive and active roles.

Institute of Transportation Engineers - Student Chapter - To enhance the professional development of students in the field of transportation and traffic engineering by providing a hasis for interactions with other students with similar interests and with engineers and other professionals in this field through the Institute. Israeli Student Organization of W.S.U. - To expose and introduce the Israeli culture and 'Tt7ay of life to the university students and faculty as 'tlell as the community. Dept of Biology~ W.S.U. 577-2924.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity - is a Black social and public service fraternity, with a stress on achievement of its members in academics and general better­ment of self. The Alpha Beta Chapter was established on Wayne's campus January 279 1927 and has prospered continuosly ever since, being the first Black Fraternity on Wayne's campus while opening the gateway for similar organizations for Black students. La Ley Student Assoc. - To provide recruitment to and graduation from the W.S.U. Law School of Latino students, so as to promote a better understanding of the law and its effect in the Latino community.

Library Science Student Assoc. - To promote the development of skills 9 and a sense of professionalism in the field of Librarianship. 315 Kresge Library 577-1825.

Husic Therapy Assoc. - The student Husic Therapy Assoc. brings together the students of Music Therapy, broadens the out~ook of all those interested in Music Therapy, assists students in obtaining field placement, and enriches the Music Therapy program at Wayne State University. National Organization for Non-Parents - To inform people that there is an alternative lifestyle when they get married - Non Parenthood. To have people question the reasons for having children, and advantages of remaining childfree. We examine how society pressures us to have children, and taxes us unfairly when we don't. Professional Association for Career Education (PACE) - To recognize and encourage significant professional contribution to career education.

Sigma Gamma Rho 1!"i:s a non-profit collegiate sorority dedicated to the encourage­ment and promotion of high scholastic attainment, community service and imp~ovement of the quality of our lives and the society in ~which we live. Ski Team - The Wayne State University Ski Team (non-varsity) is a member of the Midwest Collegiate Ski Association. We feature cross-country and Alpine racing with both men is and ~o]omen v s teams. Box 89, S .C:B~·, 754-0967.

Society for Creative Anachronism - Our motto is nRecreate the middleages, not as they vlere, but as they should have been. II Learn the arts II crafts, dances, music; fighting and have fun doing it.

Spartacus Youth League - The Spartacus Youth League g youth section of the Spartacist League~ is a revolutionary communist organization based on the politics of Marx, Lenin',and Trotsky. We seek to win students and youth to a working-class perspective and act as an auxiliary to the class struggle opposition in the unions. The SYL/SL is a common movement struggling to build the vanguard party to lead the proletariat to the sei-zure of pm'ler.

Tau Beta Pi Association - To mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma ~1ater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as undergraduates in engineering, or by· their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering. 141 Engineering Bldg. 577-3780.

(French Club) Le Cere Ie Francais - To serve the entire university community by bringing them a taste of France. We serve the "community" of French students from the confidant majors to struggling requirement fulfillers by the programs we present and the services we provide. Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity - The oldest and largest pharmaceutical fraternity ~~ the country, with over 30,000 members nationwide. At W.S.U. we maintain resident housing & study facilities for members. Since we are a professional fraternity we help sponsor such things as Red Cross, blood drives & movies relative to the profession of pharmacy, as well as social functions, like the annual College picnic.

National Populist Party (~~erican Social Movement) - to promote Americanism & social justice, & the establishment of a new order in. a free, restored, & greater America For God, People, & Country. Box 114 S.C.B.

Pharmacy Student Advisory Bd. - The Pharmacy St. Advisory Bd. is a representative organ­ization composed of students elected by the pbarmacy student body. The purposes of this Bd. are to act as a medium whereby orderly expeessions of student opinion may be voiced through these elected representatives. Also, to act as a source from which the faculty, Dean, other administrators, and the profession of pharmacy itself may seek student opinion on matters of profeSSional, educational, or individual interest •• Finally, as an agency which will on request, assist the faculty & nean in matters involving branches of discipline, or of professional & educati~D~l etiquette.

Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity - Supply the stepping stone which will bring you into contact with other professionals of your field, working together towards a common goal. This may include: poison prevention programs, VD lectures, helping the Red Cross or even raising money for St. Judes Research Hospital to eliminate crippling childhood diseases. These are a few of our projects which you could become an integral part of. Joining us will open up a bright new horizon of professional & individual achievements along with a world of friendship. Student American Pharmaceutical Ass@c. - is the national professional society of pharmacy students & an official subdivision of the American Pharmaceutiea1 Assoc. S~ membership is open to any student regularly enrolled in pharmacy or pre­pharmacy in an accredited university or college. At present, SAPbA has 14,500 members. The membership year is October to September. IndiVidually numbered membership cards are fonvarded after applications are processed. The membership dues are $11.00 per year.

Wayne Pharmic - The Wa~e Pharmic is a pharmacy student publication of the College. -The publication has a broad format & includes articles of social~ cultural, scientific, & professional interest. It is published in the Fall & Spring. The Spring issue contains a special sectmon for the graduating seniors. Funds for this publication come from professional advertisements & a University allotment.

Wayne State Gamers - A club which promotes & encourages the playing of games based on Historical and/or SOCial/political events,. Primarily for enjoyment but also as a way of developing an interest in History. Box 52 S.C.B.

Finance Club - The Finance Club offers students with~~tere$ts in finance and accounting the opportunity to receive a supplemental financialeduc~tion that cannot be obtained in the classroom.. In the past six months, the o1l:gan,:lzation has tripled in size and prospecthre ' members',interest continues to grow. Under capable leadership, the club is plaruling a wide range of educational and social activities.

During the pres~nt school year t the Club $.ponsors such, events as Meet the Company Repre­sentatives Dinner in January" a trip to the Chicago Board of Trade during the winter sem­ester break, an Interviewing Techniques Seminsx$ a GMAT preparation course and a,Student­Faculty luncheon.

Alpha Gamma Delta - A women's social fraternity which offers the chance to cultivate friend­ships with women of varied interests. Functions include charitable projects, a variety of social activities as well as scholarship awards. Box 4, Student Center.

Circle K - A service organization in which all college students can find a means of respon­sible student action in their communities and a more active role in campus life. This club is sponsored by Kiwanis International, and with Kiwanis support, Circle K provides a practical lab­oratory for the development of analyzing the needs of our environment and in focusing in on some workable solutions to these needs. Computing Machinery (Association of) - The ACM of W.S.U. is an organization open to all students with an interest in computers - both acadmeic and recreational. Cycling Club - To promote bicycling as a means of transportation and recreation. The club encourages bike commuting to and from Wayne and also organizes many "tours" of the Detroit area and Windsor. Finance Club - The Finance Club offers students with interests in finance and accounting the opportunity to receive a supplemental financial education that cannot be obtained in the classroom. Future Women Physicians - In Future Women Physicians, we help women with a common interest in medicine reach their destiny. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity - A black social and public service fraternity, with stress on achievement of its members in academics and general betterment of self. The Alpha Beta Chapter was established on Wayne's campus January 27, 1927, and has prospered continuously ever since. Little Sisters of the Shield and Diamond - The Sisters of the Shield and Diamond is an auxiliary organization to the Pi Kappa Alpha Social fraternity and is more commonly known as the "Pike Little Sisters". The Sisters of the Shield and Diamond is not a sorority, although it has many of the benefits of a sorority, such as the opportunity to share lasting friendships. Phi Gamma Nu - A national professional business fraternity established on campus in 1949. Open to male and female students in pre-business,' business, and related business fields. Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity - Since it is a social fraternity, its members have come from all walks of campus life -- from medical school to law school. Members of the fraternity may also join any of the university's professional fraternities. It is one of Wayne State1s oldest fraternities. It received its charter from the national in 1948. The Pikes offer an opportunity for a student to expand his involvement with the campus community. Pi Kappa Alpha has a serious commitment to providing its members a social life that is hard to match at a commuter school like Wayne State. Although only males aree1igible to pledge the Pikes, women are eligible to pledge the Little Sisters of the Shield and Diamond, a sister organization that works hand-in-hand with the Pikes and shares in the same membership rights. Sigma Alpha Mu - Sammies is the nickname for Sigma Alpha Mu, a national fraternity and colonies at 50 universities throughout the United States and Canada. We do a variety of things as a social fraternity, we make college more enjoyable for our members. We hold off-campus parties, and attend other Greek (fraternity and sorority) parties.
