Current Traffic Safety Trends

• Tough year for Motor Vehicle Accidents – 117 as of 17 Aug• Put out traffic info sheet to safety reps• As a region we have had few issues – Mature Population• Still need to emphasize safety - 3 ORM Principles – • Broadcast on Regional Safety Scroller & Safety Board• Don’t Drink and Drive• Don’t Drive Fatigued• Wear Your Seat Belts

• Seat Belt Checks are being conducted periodically with pretty good results. Last two were 92.6% and 100%, - passenger emphasis important!

INSPECTIONS:

• Public Safety Inspection conducted by CNI in February. Resulted in authorization to create a new public safety position which has been filled. Mr. Lovering has been assigned as the sponsor. Will be responsible for:

• Emergency Response• Fire Protection• Occupational Safety and Health• CBRE

• NAVY Env. & Prev. Med Unit 6 Pearl Harbor• IH survey – Ergonomics, issues in N6, RF hazard markings,

Hg and RF exposure in dental and potential exposures to heavy metals originating from the shipyard.

ISSUES PENDING
