The month of July is known as the men’s month across South Africa. Port Shepstone Hospital held their men’s forum towards the end of July, aiming to motivate, en-gage, assist and inspire men about issues that are affecting them. Men were encouraged to be examples of change in all spheres of life and build a society where all people who live in it are free and go without fear. The men’s forum also looked at how men can be en-gaged in dealing with various social issues such as vic-timization of women and children, violence in families, alcohol and drug abuse. Mr T. Jwara, Manager: Radiography and guest speaker for the day said men should always portray a positive image and set a good example for their kids and the community at large. Being the first meeting of this kind in the hospital, male workers were very excited to meet and many pleaded with the organisers to have another

The event had in attendance men coming from within and outside of the hospital and we hope they will continuously promote men’s rights whilst also playing an active role in protecting women and children. Mr Brian Ntobela spearheaded this campaign and emphasized the importance of men realizing their duty to protect women and children in their societies.
