Sectoral development Expenses for research at the Austrian Universities of Applied

Sciences have nearly quadrupled between 2002 and 2011. Programs like „FH Plus“ and „COIN“ push UAS research. The share of the UAS in the total research expenditure of the

university lecturer also increased, but is still comparativelymodest.

„It should be avoided to push UAS directly or indirectly (evenfurther) into the contract research. In reality, contractresearch means very often small-scale services that do not allow structurally effective knowledge and know-how to bedeveloped at the UAS.“



„In addition to enabling sufficient research space for the academics at the UAS, an effective integration of researchand teaching should be ensured in order to ensure the continuous supply of research-led teaching at the UAS.“
