From the Principal - Mrs Maraga 21 August 2013 Regentville Students Shine at the Penrith Valley Performing Arts Festival
Our students’ musical talents were showcased at the Penrith Valley Performing Arts Festival held at the Joan
Sutherland Centre last week. Regentville PS and Glenmore Park HS Combined Band engaged the audiences
with their lively performance of ‘Super Heroes R Us and the Theme from Zorro’ as the opening act each
evening.
The Junior Dance Group entertained with their energetic ‘Dancercise’, whilst the Senior Dance Group
performed their exciting dance titled ‘The Hipsters’.
The Junior Choir sang ‘Walking in the Air and Puttin on the Ritz’ to an appreciative audience. Our senior
choir members joined students from schools throughout the Penrith Valley to form the Combined Choir
which performed a variety of songs, including ‘Man In The Mirror and Fire Flies’ in their two sets each night.
Congratulations are extended to all our children on their delightful performances.
The talents of these students will again be on display when they perform at Regentville Rocks!
April and Marcus attended the 2013 Primary School Leaders Civic Reception
His Worship the Mayor Councillor Mark Davis acknowledged the outstanding leadership of students
throughout Penrith City Council at a Civic Reception for School Leaders. Our School Captains April Abela
and Marcus Guy were each presented with a certificate to acknowledge the wonderful leadership they provide
as the School Captains of our school. Congratulations are extended to April and Marcus who are terrific role
models for the students at our school.

Benefits of under-scheduling your child
With the very best of intentions, when you're rushing to fit in soccer training, swimming
and music lessons, it can be hard to keep hold of the magic stare-into-space, muck-about
moments in children's lives.

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Grandparents
Please come to our Book Fair on Regentville Rocks Day
on Monday 2 September 2013 in our library. You can
purchase some books for your child and/or donate books in
your child’s name. The Book Fair will be open from 8.30
am to 2pm. You can collect your child from the classroom
in the morning and bring them to the Book Fair if you wish.
Children who do not have a parent/guardian/grandparent are
welcome to purchase from the Book Fair before school, at
recess or lunchtime. Reading takes children further by
engaging their imaginations and it improves their literacy
skills. I look forward to seeing you all at our fair.

PS If you have some plastic bags you do not need could you
please send them in to me, so we can use them for books
which are purchased at the Book Fair.

National Reading Hour – 24 August 2013
Sharing a book with your child for 10 minutes a day, an hour a
week is our aim for The Reading Hour on the 24 August 2013.
We know it's not always possible for parents to share a book at
bedtime with their children, but if you can manage 10 minutes
most nights, your child will have the best chance of becoming a
good reader, with all the social and educational benefits that
brings.
