AKTAU, KAZAKHSTAN - Af-ghanistan’s Ashihara Karate Federation on Sunday said the Afghan Ashihara team won nine medals in different catego-ries at the 6th Ashihara Sabaki World Championships in Aktau city in Kazakhstan.Athletes from 30 countries com-peted in the event and Afghani-stan, with nine medals, came in 4th overall. Russia ended first, while Roma-nia and Kazakhstan came in sec-ond and third respectively. Afghanistan won three gold medals, one silver and five bronze medals at the event. Afghanistan’s Fayaz Du-randesh, Ali Reza Ehsanzada and Sayed Naser Hashemi all won gold. Fayaz competed in the under 45 kg category, Ehsanzada under 55 kg and Hashemi under 65 kg category. Afghanistan’s Sher Mohammad Muradi, Fareed Aqa Durand-ehs, Abdul Shaker Hamidi, Mo-hammad Omar Sufizadah, Ebad Mohammad and Mahdi Ahmad Joya are also among the medal winners. (Tolo news)

MAZAR-I-SHARIF - A gambler has been killed and 65 others de-tained as a result of Special Forc-es operation in northern Balkh province, an official said on Sun-day.Police spokesman Sher Jan Dur-rani told Pajhwok Afghan News the gamblers initially clashed with police in the Shadyan Dar-waza area of Mazar-i-Shairf City, the provincial capital.He said one gambler was killed, 65 others arrested and 10 vehicles and a weapon also seized by po-licemen. Durrani added the de-tainees would be handed over to judicial organs.Baktash, a resident of Mazar-i-Sharif City, hailed security forces’ operation against criminals and said such raids could help de-crease criminal cases. KABUL - Afghanistan was ranked 167 in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2019: Training for Reform and received a score of 47.7 in ease of doing business.According to the report, Afghanistan has risen six points in this year’s index of doing business against last year.However, investors said facilities for easy loans have not been provided in the country so far.Factory owners and investors said over 90 per-cent of investors need loans at the moment but getting credit is not easy. “The interest charged on loans is very high in Afghanistan therefore investors cannot use the loans properly,” said Abdullah Faizi, an inves-tor.“The private banks should have the ability to give loans for millions of dollars and then banks can give loans of $500,000 or more than that,” said Abdul Qadir Jailani, an analyst in

economic affairs. Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani’s advisor in financial and banking affairs Ajmal Ahmadi said government has drawn up the required laws for solving the problems of small companies and that this will address many problems in this regard once implemented.

“A law has been approved for companies which supports small business owners and we have approved a new law instead of the 1944 law which has created a modern system for companies which are heading for bank-ruptcy,” Ahmadi said.This comes after the Banking Union said re-cently that government lacks a clear policy on providing loans for investors which has cre-ated many problems for investors and banks.The ease of doing business score captures the gap of each economy from the best regulatory performance observed on each of the indica-tors across all economies in the Doing Busi-ness sample since 2005. An economy’s ease of doing business score is reflected on a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 rep-resents the lowest and 100 represents the best performance. KUNDUZ CITY - Wolesi Jirga candidates in northern Kunduz province on Sunday accused provincial election commission officials of their involvement in fraud on the election day and de-manded a recount of all votes.The candidates held a protest gathering in Kun-duz City, the provincial capital, and demanded a transparent vote recount before election results were announced.One of the candidates, Abdul Ghafor Hotak, ac-cused the election commission’s provincial head of electoral fraud and said they wanted a serious investigation into the fraud in Kunduz.He said the elections were massively rigged on the Election Day and there was enough evidence to prove it.Wolesi Jirga candidates no longer trusted the government, election commissions, the justice and criminal departments, particularly the at-torney office and all votes in Kunduz should be recounted, he said.Marzia Rustami, another protesting candidate from Kunduz, provided evidence about frauds at 17 polling sites.She said the candidates ...(More on P4)...(1)

FIROZKOH - At least nine Taliban militants were killed and another 27 wounded as Afghan forces recaptured Charsada district of western Ghor province from them, an official said on Sunday.Ghor police chief Brig. Gen. Shah Agha Shitab told Pajhwok Afghan News the district had been under Taliban insurgents for a month and recent-ly security forces conducted a clearing operation and retook the town late on Saturday night.During the operation, nine Taliban militants were killed and 27 others wounded while two security forces were also killed and six others wounded, he said.The police chief said food items and other military equipment were airlifted to the district and some commandos forces would remain there.The Taliban have not yet commented about the development.
