5pm - Discussion: Music & AsylumFree EntryWith Tariq Hamid Majid, Zirak Hamad and Howard Ndlovu. Chaired by Dave Stamp. In the UK, we take freedom of expression pretty much for granted. But is it the same all over the world? Join us as we explore with 3 refugee musicians the ways in which artists’ and musician’s freedom of expression is limited across the world; what drives musicians to seek asylum; and what happens when they try to seek sanctuary in a safe haven. How much does the UK really value freedom of expression? And how easy is it for musicians to integrate into the Birmingham music scene?
