STUDENTSERVICESFEEAllfull-timestudentsarerequiredtopaya$210feeeachquartertocoverstudentservices,whichdefraysthecostoflibrarydatabases,parking,technology,andotherstudentservices.Ifstudentspaytheservicesfeeinitsentiretyby9/01/20,thetotalfeeis$600fortheentireacademicyear,includingthesummer.Studentswhoarepart-time(1-11credits)arerequiredtopaya$100studentservicesfeeeachquarter.Studentswhoareauditingclassesarerequiredtopay$50studentservicefeeperquarter.Thecostsofcopying,printing,andcoffeeareNOTcoveredbythebasicstudentservicesfeeandstudentsmustpayfortheseitemsinthecansmarkedforthatpurpose.

STUDENTGOVERNMENTAtthebeginningofeachAcademicyearthestudentbodyshallelectatleasttwoofficers(apresidentandvicepresident)toorganizetheStudentGovernment,committeesandactivities.TheStudentGovernmentisencouragedtotakeanactiveroleinallaspectsofstudentlife.Itshalldraftandmaintainitsownby-lawssubjecttotheapprovalofthefaculty.Committeesshallbeappointedbythestudentofficers,withtheinputofthestudentbody,fortheareasof:studentlife,coffeeandconcessions,printingandtechnology,andstudentlife.Othercommitteesshallbeappointedasneededbythestudentbodyorrequestedbythefaculty.

VISITORSVisitorsareencouragedtoattendclasseswiththeapprovaloftheprofessorteachingtheclassandtheDean.PleasenotifytheDean’sOfficeofyourplantobringavisitorsoproperintroductionandwelcomecanbegrantedtoyourguestbytheSeminaryStaffandFaculty.VisitorswhoattendmorethanonesessionofaclassareexpectedtopaytheAuditandServicefees.

CONVOCATION/ORIENTATIONConsistentwiththephilosophyofeducationandspiritualformation,eachacademicyearbeginswithaserviceofConvocationforallstudents.Thedayincludesaprogramoforientationconcerningacademicpolicy,studentlife,libraryresources,internships,registration,sexualviolence,andfinance.

COMMUNITYCONVOCATIONSCommunityConvocationsareheldthethirdMondayofeachmonthat12:00PMandatothertimesasscheduled.Facultymembersandspecialguestsdeliverlecturesofcommoninteresttothecommunity,whichalsoservetoencourageandpromotefacultyteachingandresearch.Allstudentsandfacultyareexpectedtoattend.

EPISCOPALVISITSThroughouttheacademicyeartherewillbevisitsfrombishopsintheAnglicanChurchofNorthAmerica,theContinuingChurches,andbeyond.GuestbishopswilloftenpreachinchapelonThursdays,gatherwithusforlunchandatimeofinstruction,andaquestion&answersession.Thisisnotedas“Bishops’Hour”ontheschedule.Allstudentsandfacultyareexpectedtoattend.

COMMENCEMENTCommencementexercisesareheldeachyearasanopportunityforthestudentbody,faculty,staff,family,andfriendstohonorthosegraduating.ItisrequiredthatallstudentsattendthisimportanteventinthelifeoftheSeminaryeachyear.Prizesaregiventostudentsthatexcelinvariousareasofacademicsandstudentlife,whoarepresentatCommencement.Agraduationfeeof$150istobepaidbyMay1forthoseexpectingtograduate.AllstudentsshouldweartheircassockstocommencementandshouldconfirmtheirattendanceatcommencementwiththemainofficebyMay1.Inaddition,graduatesareresponsiblefortheirownvestmentsatCommencement.AcademicHoodscanbeloanedtograduatingM.Divstudents.AcademicHoodsarealsoavailableforpurchase.Theorderingprocesstakeseightweeksandthecostisapproximately$150.

DININGThePeachDiningHallisprovidedforsocializationandenjoyment.Itisthedesignatedareaforconsumingfoodandbeverages.Mealsarenotserved,butthereisarefrigerator,microwave,andvendingmachineforyouruse.Bottledwater,Keurigcoffeeandteaareavailableforpurchase.Otherfoodmaybeavailableforpurchasesfromtimetotime.FoodandbeveragesshouldnotbeconsumedortakenintotheLibrary.NofoodisallowedintheWailesConferenceroom.BeveragescarriedintoclassoranyotherareaoftheMainbuildingshouldhaveasecuretoponthecontainer.ThereisakitchenetteintheProfessionalbuildingwithamicrowaveandrefrigerator.FoodmaybeeatenthereorintheRecreationarea.Theseareasareprovidedforthecomfortofall.Pleaseusethemwithcareandcourtesyforothersbycleaningupafteryourselvesandputtingawaytheitemsyouuse.Pleasedonotlingeratthetableswhenothersarewaitingforaspacetoeat.

Thegoaloftheologicaleducationisnotmerelyacademicexcellence,butalsospiritualformationandthebuildingofChristiancharacter.TheintegrityoftheChurchandthegodlycharacterofitsleadersareofparamountimportance.StudentsinthecourseoftheirstudyatRESareexpectedtogrowinknowledge,spiritualdiscipline,andcharacter.

DEPORTMENTANDDRESSCODEThosetrainingforChristianMinistryareexpectedtoexemplifythehigheststandardsofChristianconductandcharacter.Studentsarerequiredtodressappropriately:Gentlemen:coatandabutton-downshirt(tiesareencouraged)orRES/RECpolo;Ladies:dress/skirt,businesssuit,blouse/slacksorRES/RECpolo.StudentsarepermittedtowearCassockstoclass.TheSeminarycallsuponitsstudentstoliveinconformitywiththebasicsofChristianconductpresentedintheHolyScriptures.Thus,studentsareexpectedtorefrainfromsubstanceabuseoraddiction,andtoabstainfromsexualactivityapartfromChristianmarriage.

ADDICTIVEORCONTROLLEDSUBSTANCESStudentsarenottouse,possess,ordistributeillegaldrugs,controlledsubstancesorfirearmsinSeminaryfacilitiesareonSeminarygrounds.

SMOKINGNosmokingispermittedintheSeminarybuildingsincludingthedormitoryspace.

ALCOHOLAnyuseofalcoholonSeminarypropertymustconformtothelawsoftheStateofPennsylvaniaandtheadmonitionsofScripture.Drunkenness,unseemlyconduct,underagedrinking,orthefurnishingofalcoholtominorsareallgroundsforimmediateexpulsion.Studentsmaynotbringalcoholtoclassorchapel.

DISCIPLINE

DisciplineisadministeredthroughtheDean’soffice.Casesarehandledindividuallyandpastorally.Normalproceduresinvolveinterventionandcounsel.Somecasesmaycallforreprimand,probation,suspension,orevenexpulsion.ThedecisionsoftheDeanortheFacultymaybeappealedthroughtheChancellortotheAcademicAffairsCommittee.DecisionsoftheAcademicAffairsCommitteearefinal.

StudentswhohavenotmadewrittenfinancialarrangementswiththeBusinessOfficeforunpaidfinancialobligationswillnotbepermittedtositforquarterlyfinalexamsandwillreceiveagradeofzeroforthemissedexam(s).Studentswhohavenotregisteredforclassbythestateddeadlineforthequarterwillbeassesseda$25latefeepercourseuponregistration.LateFeesmustbepaidbeforeattendingclass.Allpaymentsareduebytheendofthefirstweekofclasses.A1.5%latefeewillbeassessedonallunpaidbalancesatthattimeunlessotherpaymentarrangementshavebeenmade.

WORK/STUDYREQUIREMENTS

WorkStudyispartoftheSeminary’scurriculumforlearningandformation.InadditionRESisa‘WorkingInstitution’whichmeansthecommunity’sactivitiessupportthemissionandministryoftheseminary,keepingeducationmoreaffordable.Everyfull-timestudent,includingnon-scholarshipstudents,areexpectedtocontributeatleast10hoursofworkperquarter.Eachstudentreceivingafullscholarshipisrequiredtogive4hoursworkperweek(40hours/quarter)totheSeminary.Studentsreceiving2/3scholarshipsarerequiredtowork3hoursperweek(30hours/quarter).Studentsreceiving1/3scholarshipsarerequiredtowork2hoursperweek(20hours/quarter.)Part-timestudentswillbeassignedwork-studyhourscommensuratewiththeirwork-loadandscholarship.Studentswillfulfilltheircommitmentsatregularlyscheduledtimesonaweeklybasis.Everyworkstudystudenthasasupervisorandshouldcheckinregularlytomakesurethattheyarecompletingtheirjobadequately.Anaccurate,legiblerecordofcompletedhoursmustbekeptinthebookinsidethestudentstudycenter.Studentswhodonotcompletetheirhourswillbechargedat$60perhourforeachincompleteworkstudyhoursoutstandingattheendofthequarter.Studentswhodonotcompletetheirjobadequatelywillbeplacedonprobationandcouldlosetheirscholarships.

Studentsshouldconsultwiththeiracademicadvisorbeforeregisteringforanyclasses,beforechangingtheirstatus/program,orchangingtheirregistration.YouracademicadvisorislistedinPopuli.

WITHDRAWAL/AUDIT/CHANGESTATUS

Studentsmaywithdrawfromacoursebydroppingorauditingorchangestatuswithoutnotationontheirtranscriptsthroughthesecondweekofaquarter.StartingthethirdweekawithdrawalisconsideredalatedropandthenotationWP(WithdrewPassing)orWF(WithdrewFailing)willbeaddedtothepermanentrecord.AstudentwhodesirestowithdrawfromRESmustcompletetheRequestforWithdrawalfromSeminaryForm.Forcoursesmeetingduringanirregularterm1week=3hours.

INCOMPLETE/TIMEEXTENSIONREQUESTAllcourseworkshouldbecompletedwithintheacademicterm,unlessaTimeExtensionRequestFormhasbeenproperlyexecutedwiththeprofessorandapprovedthroughtheDean’soffice.Ifastudentisnotabletocompletethecourserequirementsbytheendoftheterm,duetoillnessorextraordinarycircumstances,aTimeExtensionRequestFormmustbesubmittedtotheRegistrarwiththeapprovaloftheprofessor,beforethelastdayofclasses.WhenanextensionisgrantedbytheDean’sofficeagradeofIncompletewillbeentered.All‘Incomplete’courseworkmustbecompletedasstipulatedbytheAcademicDean.Innoinstancemay‘Incomplete’workextendbeyondthenextquarter.IfastudentfailstosubmitarequestforanIncompleteoritisnotapprovedbytheDean’soffice,theinstructorwillaveragethetermgradewithagradeofzeroenteredforallmissingworkorrecord.IfastudentisgrantedanIncompletebutfailstofulfillthecourserequirementsbythespecifieddate,agradeofzerowillbeenteredforthoseassignmentsandthegradeearnedrecorded.

FAILURE

Requiredcourses,forwhichafailinggradeisrecorded,mustberepeated.Failedelectivesmayberepeatedoranotherelectivemaybesubstituted.AllfailuresremainrecordedonthetranscriptandareaveragedintheGPA.

POLICYONACADEMICSTANDINGANDACADEMICPROBATIONStudentsareexpectedtoexcelintheiracademicworkaswellastheirpastoralandspiritualformation.Inordertoremainingoodacademicstandingstudentsareexpectedtomaintaina2.0GPA.Studentstandingisevaluatedatthecompletionofeachacademicyear.StudentswithaGPAunder2.0willbeplacedonAcademicProbationbyvoteofthefaculty.Studentsonprobationwillhavetheiracademicperformanceevaluatedquarterly.IfastudentonprobationreceivesafailinggradeinacourseorreceivesaGPAbelow2.0fortwoconsecutivequarters,itisgroundsfordismissal,baseduponafacultyvote.AstudentwillberemovedfromprobationarystatuswhentheircumulativeGPArisesto2.25.AstudentonprobationmusthaveallofhisorherregistrationsapprovedbytheAcademicDeanandmaynottakemorethan16creditsperquarter.AcademicProbationanddismissalmaybeappealedtotheAcademicAffairsCommitteeinaccordancewiththegrievancepolicy.ThedecisionoftheAcademicAffairsCommitteeisfinal.

STUDENTINACTIVITY

Studentswhoareinactiveforanentireregularacademicyear(Trinity-EasterQuarters)willbedroppedfromtheroles.Inordertobereinstatedtheywillhavetoreapplyforadmission.Inactivityisdefinedasnotregisteringforatleastonecourseforcreditduringthetimeperiodandhavingitremainonthestudentrecord.Studentswhohavenotmetthisrequirementmaypayanannualstudentinactivityfeeof$150.00bytheendofthefirstweekofthefollowingquartertoremainonthestudentrollsanotheryear.Thisisinadditiontothe$50studentservicefeethatstudentsmustpayeachquartertheyremainontherole.

Honorsaregivenatgraduationbyvoteofthefaculty.TraditionalhonorsofCumLaude,MagnaCumLaude,andSummaCumLaudegiverecognitiontothreeascendinggradationsofacademicexcellenceinallofone’sstudies,andmaybeawardedtograduatingstudentswhohavecompletedoverhalfoftheirDiplomaorMasterofDivinityprogramcreditsatRES(over75credits).

Thegeneralstandardfortheseacademichonorsisasfollows:• CumLaude:AGPAof3.5• MagnaCumLaude:AGPAof3.75• SummaCumLaude:AGPAof3.90

Avotetoconferthesehonorsismadeatthefacultymeetingapproximately2monthsbeforegraduation.InadditiontoGPAfacultytakeintoaccountallaspectsofstudents’academicperformanceandparticipation.Thefacultymayalsograntgraduationwithhonorsandhighesthonorstostudentwhocompleteandsuccessfullydefendadissertationbeforethecompletionoftheirprogram.SuchstudentsmostexcelinallaspectsoftheMasterofDivinityprogramandbeexemplaryintheirscholarship,comportment,andpastoralability.SuchstudentsmaybeinvitedtocompleteadissertationattheconclusionoftheirMiddleryearandwouldbeawardedhonorsbasedonsuccessfulcompletionofthedissertationandvoteofthefaculty.

FINALEXAMINATIONAllstudentsmustpassacomprehensiveexaminationadministeredbytheSeminarybeforetheycangraduate.TheexammustbetakenduringtheSenioryear.StudentsmustscheduletotaketheexamatleastonceduringtheTrinityorAdventQuarters.Studentmayretaketheexamifneeded.InordertograduateinagivenacademicyearastudentmustpassthecomprehensiveexaminationbeforeMay1.
