GENRE

Characters- It is very popular in horror that there is a final girl, a final girl is usually the innocent chaste character whom lives throughout the

film. There is also always some form of a killer or a group of killers.

Props- There are always props included in a horror, including the most popular weapons such as knives, guns, tools etc. These props are usually

used throughout as the killer will have a favourite. Location- The location based on a horror is usually somehow isolation or set in an urban location. This allows the film to create impact and

drama. Costume- Costume usually varies on characters, for example the

promiscuous character would be clothed in very inappropriate costume whereas the innocent final girl would be the complete opposite.

Sound- Sound is very important in a horror film as it creates impact and suspense. For example in jaws, the popular high pitched theme tune

is heard in the background to create suspense.

HORROR

Characters- Characters associated with comedy will vary throughout. There will always be the silly type, serious type, boring, funny

characters etc.

Props- There aren’t set props in comedy as each comedy film is different given which area of topic they are basing it on. For example in Role Models, they use a large mascot truck to represent their stupidity. Location- Again location all depends on what the comedy film is about, it usually is a normal homely place such as their home, the park a mall

etc. Costume- Costume within comedy usually represents their attitude and

stupidity. For example the most hilarious character will be clothed in very weird clothing showing their personality.

Sound- In a comedy the soundtrack usually varies to create laughter. For example in ‘what to expect when you’re not expecting’ When the

dads are walking there non- diegetic rap on in the background, this rips off the typical gangster films making it a typical comedy.

COMEDY

Characters- With action, it all varies with characters as to what kind of action it is. If the action film is anything like a marvel action film then

there will be superheroes instead of the typical police characters.

Props- Props in action are usually based on weapons such as knives, guns, bombs etc. However if it is a superhero based action film then

there won’t be any of the typical violent props.

Location- Most action films are based in big cities, such as James Bond. However, again if it was a superhero action film the location would be

more isolated or perhaps in another world.

Costume- Costume all depends on the type of action film. For example in James Bond, he would be clothed in very smart suits and police would be clothed in their proper uniform. On the other hand, if it was a superhero

film, they would be clothed in typical superhero costumes.Sound- Finally with sound, sound is very important as it creates suspense

and makes the action scenes become more dramatic and enjoyable.

ACTION

Characters- With a romantic film, there are usually only two main characters. The two typical characters that fall in

love.

Props- Props may vary with what type of romantic film is based on. For example, wedding rings may be involved.

Location- with romance films they are usually filmed somewhere romantic, such as Paris or Italy.

Costume- Characters in a romance aren’t set out to be funny therefore no inappropriate clothing is involved, just

simple plain clothing for each character. Sound- Sound in a romance film is usually very slow and

either happy or sad given which scene it is being used in.
