For this second learning of Language Art, I felt very excited because as for
me, it will be more fun and joyful learning and activities about songs and poetry for
the children. Before this, my classmates and I had learned about theories and more
about children’s’ literature in the previous semester. The first thought I have was this
new semester of learning Language Art will be more fun and we can do exciting
activities like sing the children song with act.
So, the first lesson was the whole class discussed about literature and
children’s literature and what is the importance of songs and poetry for the Primary
ESL classroom. What I have viewed was, there were so many definitions and
meaning on literature but to make it simple, it is about learning other culture,
information, issues and ideas of people. As long as it can be read, it is literature.
As for me, the importance of songs and poetry in the primary ESL classroom
is very important part that I should know and focus on because I will become an
English teacher that will teach my students all the songs and poetry in literature
subject. I should know the importance and make sure my future students will get the
benefits of learning literature.

Madam Zuraihan told us about the preparation before coming to the
class. So, we did come prepared with all the materials about the second lesson
which we discussed about the literature, the aesthetic development and going
through the KSSR and KBSR document standard. The moral value is we can share
all the things and materials we had collected to others and also discuss about it. In
fact, everybody took part in the discussion because all of us had prepared and it was
a good thing.
There are certain groups that presented about poetry with different
genres. Those are epics, dramatic poetry, limericks and haiku. All of these were
explained well by the presenters and it made me clear of these topics. The
characteristics of all those genres of poetry confused me but after reading through it
again, I can understand better.
Madam Zuraihan advised us on the slides presented by the Epic
group. So, I take this seriously because a good slides is very important in teaching in
order to attract the audience looking at the slides by just looking or they really
looking and get what the points are. So it is very important in doing the good
presentation and slides.

This week lesson seems very enjoying and fun because we are
learning about the nursery rhymes and the importance of it. The importance of
nursery rhymes is very good and as a future teacher, I need to know about it. The
importance like, for their language and social development, I need to make sure that
I teach and succeed in develop all the skills among the students.
There are many examples of nursery rhymes form different culture.
During the lesson, each of us sang our own lullabies and songs that we have learned
or originated from our parents and grandparents. At first, I feel very shy and do not
want to do it but after seeing my friend were able to sing with microphone, it
encouraged me to try and sing in front with microphone. I am not a good singer, but I
will try to sing confidently. I think I need to practice singing confidently, so I can teach
my students and they will have faith in me.
Completing presentation with my group, it was very difficult because
my group have one male member. Eventually, we have managed completing the
task and presentation together. Group work is very important as we need to prepare
the whole things together and discuss the topic given.
