BMW factory in Spartanburg (South Carolina, USA)

Around 15,000 brand-new BMW X5s and X6s roll off the production line of the BMW factory in Spartanburg (South Carolina, USA) every month. The customer, already waiting with baited breath for their new 4x4, can scarcely realise that OBO solutions also had an important role to play during production. For many years, OBO cable trays of type MKS/SKS have ensured that power and data cables on the 465 hectare site are run to the place they are required in production.

Audi factory in Győr, Hungary

With the expansion of the hall area to 340,000 square metres, Audi Hungaria has a total of 3,700,000 square metres of factory space in Hungary, making it a complete car factory.

OBO is equipping the new halls and buildings with cable support systems to a value of almost 2 mil-lion euros.

Howald TunnelSome 70,000 vehicles pass through the Howald Tunnel in Lux-embourg every day.

OBO products had an important role to play in the refurbishment of the tunnel in 2010.

This major project also demand-ed a high level of flexibility and efficiency from the profession-als of the OBO BETTERMANN branch office in Delitzsch, just 20 kilometres from the construction site, who were responsible for the delivery of various systems for electrical installations.

The sprawling building complex was equipped with around 100 kilometres of OBO wide spancable trays of various dimen-sions.

A safe journey through the tram tunnel

Mobility

OBO tunnel construction systems are in use in many tram tunnels, as well as sections of under-ground and suburban railways.

This long experience was of great importance for LINZ AG when they made their decision in favour of OBO for the electrical fitting of a new tram tunnel. Numerous components from the solutions portfolio have been installed in the 1.3 kilometre-long tunnel sec-tion.

No less than eight kilometres of cable trays and 20 kilometres of cable ladders run through the tun-nels, to say nothing of the sys-tems for fire protection and exter-nal lightning protection.

All of them ensure reliable func-tionality, even if there are major loads in the tunnel, where pres-sure waves, humidity and dirt are run of the mill.

Akmerkez Komplex in Istanbul The Akmerkez complex in the heart of Istanbul stretches over 180,000 square metres. Besides a four-storey shopping mall with 250 shops, Akmerkez also con-tains three towers.

Two of them, with 14 and 17storeys apiece, contain office space, whilst a third, 24-storey,

structure contains high-quality housing.

During comprehensive renovation of the complex, which was built in 1993, the executive company, the Akmerkez Construction Com-pany, decided to use the versatile OBO underfloor systems in the luxurious shopping mall and the office buildings. Function and de-
