“I heard about them after they serenaded my sister down by DUC one day and she told me I should try out. I decided I’d give it a shot and sure enough I got in. I got involved because I love to sing and I needed some sort of release from the science that I’m constantly doing. Many of the Music Dept ensembles require you be a music major but I am a Biology Chemistry double major and a Spanish minor and I’m a RedShirt.”

The RedShirts was started in 2003 by male students who were interested in acappella music. Members do not receieve school cred-it since the group is not directly affiliated with the music department. The RedShirts handle all of their own money, arrange or buy their own music, schedule their own gigs, and run their own rehearsals.

“TrebleMakers gave me a place to fit in on campus, new girl friends and people to shine a light to. I also grew as a musician as I learned to perform in this new style. We don’t get any credits. Just the joy of performing and improving ourselves as musicians and music educators. ”

The Treblemakers is an all-girl acappella group which is entirely student run, not affiliated with themusic department. All performances and songs are arranged by members of the group.
