PRESS RELEASE Brussels, 21 March 2012 | Page 1/1 Redevco celebrates official reopening of Cascade Shopping Redevco Retail Belgium has just completed a major two-year redevelopment project in Drogenbos. The complex, now renamed Cascade Shopping, one of Belgium’s most important peripheral retail parks, will be officially opened on Thursday 22 March. Redevco has secured some big-name tenants for the 29,000m² centre, including Carrefour Planet, Brico, Dreamland, Lunch Garden, SportsDirect.com, Luxus, PointCarré, Auto 5, Quick and Pizza Hut. The company has invested 15 million euros in the redevelopment project. Cascade Shopping is located in the heart of an important retail hub near the Brussels Ring Road, which connects the E19 from Antwerp to the E19 towards Nivelles and Paris. The retail park has parking space for more than 800 cars. The complex was originally built in the 1970s and was in sore need of renovation when Redevco Retail Belgium started redeveloping it in early 2010. The outdated Disport store was demolished to create new two-storey units for SportsDirect.com, PointCarré and Luxus. The existing Brico store was also demolished to make way for a new Dreamland. Brico and Brico Garden are now housed in a new combined store in the complex. The redevelopment project targeted the entire infrastructure, creating new parking facilities and a new promenade. The Carrefour façades were also given a facelift, giving the whole site a fresh, modern look. The architecture is more innovative and aesthetically pleasing than is usually the case in retail parks. Cushman & Wakefield found tenants for all the new additional units. The redevelopment was designed by Jaspers-Eyers & Partners and the main contractor was AMART. This project is in line with Redevco’s ambitious redevelopment policy, which is aimed at renovating and optimising the complexes in its portfolio, creating A-grade retail properties. Redevco Retail Belgium is both developer and owner of this property. ABOUT REDEVCO Redevco is an independent real estate company, managing and developing one of the largest retail portfolios in Europe, currently valued at 7.4 billion euros.
