Samiya active 68 year-old who has type-2 diabetes and some neuropathy
Bill 82 year-old widower, finds it difficult to bend, to cut his thickened toenails
Jason 24 year-old young man who enjoys sport, has infected in-growing toenail

Options and what would this mean for Samiya, Bill and Jason
Option 1:Continue with the current NHS service/eligibility criteria.
Option 2:Improve the current NHS service for people with high level medical and/or podiatric needs
Discharge people with low level needs and signpost to support.
Option 3:Option 3 is the same as Option 2 plus
For current service users, if they have podiatric needs they would continue to receive appointments.

surgery (Jason)• adversely impact quality of life (Samiya and Jason)
Under Option 2: • improve access/ frequency appointments (Jason & Samiya)• improve outcomes (Jason & Samiya)• clear eligibility criteria (all)• self-help information (all)• appropriate signposting (Bill)
Under Option 3: • in 5-10 years’ time some positive impacts
