MIDDLE SCHOOL REDESIGN IN ACTION

Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School

In Our Current System….There are not enough minutes in a 6 period day.

Different sites. Different allocations. Different choices. ELD & Study Skills requirements prevent electives choice.

CHALLENGE

The Result: Students experience inequitable access to opportunities.

And solving these problems alone does not redesign the learning experience.

5

We believe that engaging our stakeholders to reimagine the school day with our students’ 21st century experiences at the

center will transform our thinking around the type of

instruction and curriculum our middle grades students should

have access to.

STUDENT CENTERED APPROACH

6

7

If We…Engage site and central leaders to redesign the school day to provide deeper learning opportunities,

Then…All students will have access to relevant content in a personalized manner and expanded opportunities aligned to Vision 2025
