On Monday we had our Cross Country day out at Mt Loſty reserve. The weather was kind and it was a lovely morning to go for a run. Aſter the Cross Country we walked back to Alex's house for a BBQ lunch and a play while enjoying scones, chocolate cake and a freshly picked apple! Thank you to Jo Smith for cooking and also driving students out and back to school. Back in the classroom we are connuing building our stamina to read and write longer. In maths in the senior room we have been working on arrays and measurement. We spend 20 minutes at the start of each Math lesson on Sumdog.com improving our mental adding and mes tables facts. The junior room are working at adding numbers to make 10 and measurement. We have a couple of events for the older students this coming week and I am asking if we can have some parents share the driving to transport students. The vehicle has to have comprehensive insurance. On Friday the grade 5/6 students are heading to Bendigo for the Grip leadership forum. There is a permission note today. We are looking for a couple of parents who can take the students to the Capital Theatre in the morning by 9am and pick them up at 2:30pm to take back to meet the school bus. There are 7 students (grade 5/6 students) who are aending so we need 2 cars. Could you let me know if you are available to drive either drop off or pick up or both. Next Tuesday the grade 3-6 students are heading to Hanging Rock for cross country. We need parents to drive on Tuesday as well. Thanks to Jodi for mowing the oval. It looks great! REDESDALE-MIA MIA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Newsletter No. 11 April 29th, 2015

FROM THE PRINCIPAL Hi Everyone,

What a busy week we have had.

Last Thursday the 5/6’s headed to Kyneton for the day as part of Kyneton Secondary Colleges transition program. They participated in a typical high school day including Maths, Art, Sport, English and Library.

I was able to spend time with the 5/6 teachers from all the other primary schools and share what we have been doing and some great ideas.

Back at school the F-4 students enjoyed a fantastic presentation from members of the Kyneton RSL. Mike Gretton, Secretary Kyneton RSL was in the Air force for 20 years, then Vietnam as an interpreter. Graham Day President Kyneton RSL and Jack Wilmont oldest member of Kyneton RSL at 95! Jack served in WW2 in New Guinea. There was also a bugler to play the Last Post.

On Monday we had our Cross Country day out at Mt Lofty reserve. The weather was kind and it was a lovely morning to go for a run. Thanks to Alex and Mitch for helping set the course by putting out hats and moving logs off the track. After the Cross Country we walked back to Alex's house for a BBQ lunch and a play while enjoying scones, chocolate cake and a freshly picked apple! Thank you to Jo Smith for cooking and also driving students out and back to school.

Back in the classroom we are continuing building our stamina to read and write longer. In maths in the senior room we have been working on arrays and measurement. We spend 20 minutes at the start of each Math lesson on Sumdog.com improving our mental adding and times tables facts.

There are 7 students (grade 5/6 students) who are attending so we need 2 cars. Could you let me know if you are available to drive either drop off or pick up or both.

Next Tuesday the grade 3-6 students are heading to Hanging Rock for cross country. We need parents to drive on Tuesday as well.

Thanks to Jodi for mowing the oval. It looks great!

The Sausage Sizzle is every Wednesday. Students can purchase a barbeque lunch for $3.00 (sausage in bread, drink and fruit). Extra sausages can be purchased for $1.00 each. There is no option to not have fruit or drink.

Prices per student are as follows: 1 sausage in bread + drink + fruit = $3.00 2 sausages in bread + drink + fruit = $4.00

The roster for Term 2 was attached to the newsletter in the last newsletter of term 1. Thank you to all those who have offered to assist. Unfortunately there has been very little response to providing fruit. Please contact the school if you can provide fruit for any of the weeks. The students really enjoy the Sausage Sizzle and help from families is very much appreciated.

Strathfieldsaye IGA store supports our school with a shopping token system.

Every time you shop there, a token is swiped and a por-tion of the sale goes to our school.

It’s easy and effective—the school has received a consid-erable sum since the scheme’s inception.

If you shop there regularly and would like to support the school, tokens are available from the school office.
