October Rally Report 1

November 2015

Our October rally started off with fun at American RV Park in Corsicana, TX. Bloody Mary drinks were served on Thursday morning by the Clarks. Later, some members went to the Civil War Museum and some went shopping in downtown. Some al-so went to the Russell Stover can-dy store – Hot fudge sundaes for lunch was very filling and you couldn’t come out without a big bag of candy. The weather was great, a little on the warm side during the day but it cooled off at night. Our hosts for the weekend were Barbara and Kenneth Black-shear, Shirley and Jerry Nelson, Donna and Mike Bennett, and Jayne and Keith Grasso. 53 peo-ple and 28 coaches were regis-tered, but we ended up with 48 members and 25 coaches..

Thursday evening everyone gathered on the porch of the meeting room for delicious snacks. A potluck was served af-ter the blessing by Ken Black-shear. The hostesses provided dessert, strawberry and lemon cake. Announcements were made and guests were introduced, Gary and Debra Pennington, guests of Rick and Yong Dennis. Saturday morning, everyone gathered in the clubhouse for breakfast. Barbara Blackshear gave announcements in Jean-nette’s absence and she also gave the blessing. Breakfast was Bis-cuits, gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.

The men’s tech session at 1 o’clock was given by Bob Kries-man and John Sharpe about elec-tricity for motor home owners. The women’s craft session was given by Susan Campbell on wine cork and stone key chains.

OCT. RALLY ATTENDEES

Chaplain Committee - Snoopy Campbell and Jerry Nelson This committee is to conduct, or select someone to conduct, a short devotional on Sunday morning,

and ask the mealtime blessings or invite other members to do so. The Sunday devotionals require thought and time to prepare, so if the message has special meaning to you please thank the presenter.

LADIES CRAFT The November ladies craft will

tian songs. Also present was his wife Sharon and Amanda’s baby Ty. Kenny is Pastor at “Trail to the Cross Cowboy Church” in Hillsboro, TX and guests of Shirley and Jerry Nelson. The gathering broke up while we walked to our motor homes to music and party-ing going on in the other hall. It may have been hard to get to sleep, but by midnight everything was quiet.

Sunday morning a breakfast of Sausage, Eggs, Biscuits, Gravy, sweet rolls, fruit and desserts were served at 8:30. The devo-tional was given by Jerry Nelson. Several motor homes left around 10:30, while others stayed for a day or two to go to the Six-State Rally in Conroe, TX. Hope to see you in November in Wichita Falls.

Anybody ever heard of Blue Eye, Arkansas?? That is where the following happened.

You know how excited boys are when they get a new toy!! Well it seems our person got a different tow car, he hooks it up and in his excited condition they take off down the road. Well about 20 miles down the road he pulls over to check to see how the new TOAD is doing. What does he find? Seems in his haste to test his hookup he forgot to unhook his power cord.

Mike McMillian, was this months runner-up for the DA Award and was presented with a special DA Certificate

Our member of the month in October was Donna Bennett. Prior to the rally two of our members correctly identified who the young lady was….. Those two who cor-rectly recognized the young lady are Shirley Nelson and Norma Hamel.

OCTOBER WHOSZAT!!

The subject for the October rally was 110V electricity for mo-torhomes. It was broken down into two categories, 30 amp and 50 amp inputs.

The 30 amp input dealt with the plug neutral, hot and ground wires and how to read the voltage of each. We then went on to dis-cuss where the wires went and what each color coded wire meant. Emphasis was placed on not ever interrupting the neutral or ground paths. It was then reit-erated not to plug in if the voltage is below 105 volts. The 50 amp plug was then discussed. It was shown where the 50amp plug ac-tually gave the coach 100 amps of available current and how the loads were divided. From there an open discussion dealt with surge protection systems, trans-fer switches, 50amp to 30amp plugs and other relays related to the 50 amp power supply.

the car in park. You'll hear "I told you so" at the

same time you’re shelling out over $500.00 to replace two front tires that were new to begin with.

Then there is the help a “NAG” can give while you're driving. If you are going down SLUMGULLION Pass in to Lake City and you're “NAG” ask shouldn't you gear down, slow down maybe use the breaks, it might be best to listen. Then as you fly into WOOD Lake RV Park brakes flaming and smoke billowing thick enough to choke everyone, you may hear you're NAG ask one more ques-tion; ARE YOU READY FOR THE DUMB ASS AWARD????

JERRY NELSON your lovely “NAG” nominated you!!!!!

If you are going to travel in a motorhome where there are so many things to remem-ber on your check list, you either need a great memory or a good "NAG" (AKA-Wife).

A good "NAG" ask questions!! Are you sure you're ready? Have you checked everything? Is the key on in the car? Is the fuse pulled out? Is it in neutral? Did you put the brake buddy in? Now you get the idea what a good "NAG" does.

Well, being a guy he would be aggravated and gruffly and just say YES! Well if you're too stubborn to check these things you may soon discover you had
