liked the sour ones! Speaking of

candy, the food was just as great!

There was not only pizza, but pret-

zels, fruits, cookies, chips, and

much more. Everyone ate and

drank the lemonade with joy! The

open gym was one of the main plac-

es to be. With open gym going on, no one could

The 6th Grade Social was

a huge hit! From the cos-

thing was perfect. In the

Although

everyone

looked

great. The DJ played any song requested!

Even if you didn't request songs, I bet you

danced your feet off! Some of the best danc-

ers there included gymnasts, but there were

many more great dancers in the crowd. The

candy station featured several different

tary and for one year as a dental assis-

tant.

Do you pick the books that are in the li-

brary? If so, how do you decide which

books to pick?

Yes, I select the majority of the materi-

als for the media center. There are many

ways I determine what to purchase.

1. First, and foremost, I listen to you

(the students) as to what you are read-

ing. Your input is most important to me. I

want you to be reading and I have learned

over the years, that it is important to

have the books you are wishing to

read. (What good is having lots of books

you aren't interested in *even if they are

good books, if you aren't reading them.)

2. I also rely on teacher's recommenda-

tions and what they determine would be

helpful for their curriculum.

3. I try to keep the high interest books

and the "oldies, but goodies" on the shelf

for you as well.

What do you do during the day that peo-

ple may be surprised to hear?

As embarrassing as this is... Mrs. M.

watches far too much reality televi-

sion!:) Any program where they vote peo-

ple off weekly, she can be found watch-

ing. You can sometimes also find her vis-

iting her son Mr. Shuster (7th grade gold

Social Studies teacher) in his room.

Did you always want to be a librarian for

a school? If not, what other careers were

you interested in?

No, but I always loved reading and being

around a school setting. (It must have

shown, as my 2 sons are teachers, and my

daughter was a teacher for 3 years be-

fore continuing her education to become a

doctor.) Because of my PSO volunteer

work I was able to get a position working

in the BBHCSD in the library. I am so

lucky because I LOVE my job! It is said,

"Find something you love to do, and you

will never work a day in your life". This

is so true. The only other profession I

would have loved to pursue was studying to

become an X-ray technician.

How long have you been a librarian?

I have been working in the media center

for almost 30 years! What was once a

library has now evolved into being the

technology hub of the school. And I love

it!

Did you have any other jobs before you

worked here?

Yes, for a short time as a business secre-

Interview: How much do you know about Mrs. Mieskoski?

Coaster Chat: Keeping up with Cedar Point

By Will Minatel

Welcome to BBHMS’s way of keeping track of the true happiest place on Earth, Cedar Point. I’m Will, and this is Coaster Chat.

Intro to Steel Vengeance

In this Coaster Chat, I will be going over Cedar

Point’s newest addition to their already phenome-

nal roller coaster lineup. Yes, I am talking about

the behemoth now standing over Mean Streak’s

grave, Steel Vengeance. This thing will be massive,

standing at 205 feet tall, dropping riders 200 feet

straight down 90 degrees, and going upside-down

4 times. The last piece of track which was melted

into place on October 4th will ensure that riders

will be whipped through 5,740 feet of track at a

top speed of 74 miles per hour, making this ride

two and a half minutes long. However, the most

impressive thing about this out-of-control monster

is the airtime. Most of you know the feeling you

get at the top of the hill right after the first tun-

nel on Millennium Force, where you are whipped out

of your seat and hovering over it for about 2.5

seconds. On Steel Vengeance, you will be out of

your seat for 27.5 seconds, the most airtime on

any roller coaster in the world! You will never be

sitting down, and there is nothing the lap-bar(yes,

you go upside-down 4 times with just a lap-bar) can

do to defy physics, unlike the banked track on the

outside of a turn that can also be found on this

beast. It was built by Rocky Mountain Construc-

tion(RMC), a fairly new company that takes an old

wooden roller coaster and outfits it with fancy

steel track and inversions, making one of the best

rides in the world! The company’s short yet amaz-

ing history gives this monstrous ride great expec-

tations. So this presents a challenge of riding it in

it’s opening year, but it would pretty much be a

crime to live this close to the park and not get on

it.

So, that about summarizes this insane ride. The

question on everybody’s mind, however, is “Will

this be the best ride in the park?” In all honesty,

I personally think it will be. This thing’s got the

stats and it breaks the records (10 of them to be

exact). But the only true way of knowing if it is

the best is riding it. The last question left is: Are

you brave enough to take on Digger, Chess, and

Blackjack? These outlaws have come to take back

Mean Streak’s fame from Maverick, and they’ve

also come to take you on the wildest ride in Fron-

tiertown.

What you’ll need is……

Chocolate chips

Flour

Milk

Orange frosting

Pumpkin cookie cutter

Melt the chocolate chips in a bowl then add a gen-

erous amount of flour. Then add ⅔ of milk, mix till

thick. After you mixed and it is a little runny add

some more flour. Preheat oven at 350 degrees

for ten minutes then put brownie batter in for 20

Heart Warming Fall Recipe

If you want to warm up right into fall try this delicious recipe of Autumn Cheesecake! This is a

delightful apple cheesecake that is a medium level to make. There are four simple directions.

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together the graham cracker

crumbs, 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and melted

butter; press into the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan. Bake in preheated oven for 10

minutes. Secondly, In a large bowl, combine cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix at medium

speed until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in vanilla;

pour filling into the baked crust. Thirdly, In a small bowl, stir together 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2

teaspoon cinnamon. Toss the cinnamon-sugar with the apples to coat. Spoon apple mixture over

cream cheese layer and sprinkle with 1/4 cup chopped pecans. Lastly, bake in preheated oven

for 60 to 70 minutes. With a knife, loosen cake from rim of pan. Let cool, then remove the rim

of pan. Chill cake before serving. The best part is when it is done chilling and you get to eat it!

Happy fall, and enjoy!
