As he explains in his book, Four Blood Moons: Something is About to Change, the occurrence of four total lunar eclipses is a sign from God. He claims that his research reveals the following: In the past, the rare appearance of four blood moons on these feast days has coincided with major events for Israel and the Jewish people. In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews. Columbus also discovered America, which became a safe haven for the Jewish people. "In each of these blood moons, you have something that begins in tragedy and ends in triumph," Hagee explained. For instance, in 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation. "After 2,000 years, God supernaturally brought them from 66 nations and a nation was born in a day," Hagee noted. "That again was a supernatural something that happened following the tragedy of the Holocaust." In 1967, Israel won the Six-Day War and recaptured Jerusalem. "For the first time in 2,000 years, Jerusalem and the State of Israel were together again," Hagee said. As both a born-again Christian and a historian, I was moved to see if Pastor Hagees assertions were correct. During the past 50 years I have heard many false prophecies (like those of the Millennialists) that gained a great deal of attention in the media only to fizzle and make a laughingstock of all those who supported them. Using the NASA website (http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/lunar.html ) to determine the dates of the bloodmoons and Jewish Holidays Online (http://jewishholidaysonline.com ) to determine the correct dates of the Jewish holidays, I tested the validity of Pastor Hagees hypothesis. The results are as follows:

Red Moon Rising According to Pastor John Hagee four “blood” moons in a row occurring during Jewish

holidays indicate a major event concerning Israel. As he explains in his book, Four Blood Moons:

Something is About to Change, the occurrence of four total lunar eclipses is a sign from God. He claims

that his research reveals the following:

In the past, the rare appearance of four blood moons on these feast days has coincided with

major events for Israel and the Jewish people.

In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews. Columbus also discovered America, which became a safe haven

for the Jewish people.

"In each of these blood moons, you have something that begins in tragedy and ends in triumph,"

Hagee explained.

For instance, in 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation. "After 2,000 years, God supernaturally brought

them from 66 nations and a nation was born in a day," Hagee noted. "That again was a supernatural

something that happened following the tragedy of the Holocaust."

In 1967, Israel won the Six-Day War and recaptured Jerusalem. "For the first time in 2,000 years,

Jerusalem and the State of Israel were together again," Hagee said.

As both a born-again Christian and a historian, I was moved to see if Pastor Hagee’s

assertions were correct. During the past 50 years I have heard many false prophecies (like those of

the Millennialists) that gained a great deal of attention in the media only to fizzle and make a

laughingstock of all those who supported them. Using the NASA website

(http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/lunar.html) to determine the dates of the “blood” moons and Jewish

Holidays Online (http://jewishholidaysonline.com) to determine the correct dates of the Jewish

holidays, I tested the validity of Pastor Hagee’s hypothesis. The results are as follows:

“In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews. Columbus also discovered America, which became a safe

haven for the Jewish people.” – Nearest quadruple series of “blood” moons = 1493-94

(none of which occurs on a Jewish holiday!) FAIL

“For instance, in 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation.” - Nearest quadruple series of “blood”

moons = 1949-50 (3 out of 4 occur on a Jewish holiday) Jewish independence occurred

almost a full year before these eclipses and not all of them occurred on a Jewish holiday.

FAIL

“In 1967, Israel won the Six-Day War and recaptured Jerusalem. ‘For the first time in 2,000

years, Jerusalem and the State of Israel were together again,’ Hagee said.” - Nearest

quadruple series of “blood” moons = 1967-68 (all eclipses occurred during Jewish Holidays)

PASS

Furthermore, total lunar eclipses are not visible everywhere. Using NASA as a guide, only in

a single case is the “blood” moon visible to Israel (on 9-28-2015 and only as the moon sets).

Wouldn’t God allow Israel to see the sign if it was His warning to them? Is He trying to warn the

Americas and the Pacific Ocean alone?

There are many other events that dramatically affected Israel and its people in the past that

Pastor Hagee either didn’t notice or ignored in his research. Other events that should be on his list

include the Yom Kippur War (Israeli forces incur far heavier casualties than in the Six-Day War and

the war directly results in a peace treaty with Egypt and the loss of the Sinai Peninsula to Israel who

adopts a “land for peace” policy) and the Lebanese Wars [1982-85 and 2006 (none of these

occurred during a quadruple series of “blood” moons occurring during Jewish holidays but resulted

in great losses to Israel and to its international standing)]. So not all of the major events concerning

the State of Israel have occurred during a quadruple series of “blood” moons occurring during

Jewish holidays as inferred by Pastor Hagee!

Looking into the present series of “blood” moons, 2014-15, “blood” moons do indeed

occur during the Jewish holidays. But with Pastor Hagee’s record (2 out of 3 wrong), I’m not sure

I’d take his predictions too seriously. This not to say that nothing significant is going to happen to

Israel during the current series of quadruple “blood” moons, but far more significant things have

happened to Israel outside a quadruple series of “blood” moons occurring during Jewish holidays

than have during such a series. Perhaps Pastor Hagee would better serve the Church by leaving

research on the “end-days” to those who can and will do so accurately. But then again, he wouldn’t

sell so many books!
