Worldwide Marriage Encounter

To support married couples during this time of

social distancing, Worldwide Marriage Encoun-

ter is sponsoring virtual marriage experiences.

Some are on weekends and are seven sessions

on weekdays from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. Couples

will explore their individual personality styles,

improve listening and communication skills, un-

derstand God’s plan for their marriage, and

learn how to keep their relationship a priori-

ty. Registration is limited and a $100 applica-

Mount St. Charles Fine Arts Summer Camp is a

two-week, full-day co-ed summer program at

Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket for

all children currently in grades 4-8. This year’s

camp runs from July 19-30, Monday to Friday

from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Our camp will intro-

duce young people to the fun and excitement of

the Fine Arts. Campers will take a set schedule

of six arts-related courses Week 1 and six for

Week 2. They will remain in "pods'' in order to

limit close-contact. Courses include a variety of

art, dance, music, and drama courses as well as

tech-related courses (computers and Geocach-

ing) and problem-solving activities (like Escape

the Room).

From the Pastor’s Desk:

This is the time of graduations. Congratulations to all our

parishioners who are taking that important step during these

days: to those who graduated from eighth grade at Blessed

Sacrament School this weekend and all our other graduates from

elementary schools and to those graduating from Catholic and

public High Schools, to our college graduates and those who

have earned post-graduate degrees. May the Lord continue to

bless and guide you through the years ahead. Congratulations

also to parents, teachers, professors, coaches, administrators,

and all who help our young people along the path of life.

Education should aim to develop the whole person:

intellectually, physically, psychologically, socially, and

spiritually. The Church sees Catholic schools and universities as

ideal places where this comprehensive approach to education

can be realized. It also calls for programs of faith formation for

those who attend public schools and institutions of higher

learning. The goal of education should be to produce an

informed learner, a person with a store of knowledge who

realizes that there is much more to learn, and has the tools to do

that learning. Education should prepare a person for more than a

job; it should prepare that person to live.

In today’s fast-changing world, people change jobs often.

Technology is always in flux. An educated person should be

able to adapt to change, to learn new things. In the midst of this

change, we need to be able to make right judgments. We also

need to be able to appreciate the things in life which do not

change: beauty, goodness, and truth. We have to be able to sort

through the multitude of images and ideas with which the media

bombard us and separate the wheat from the chaff. We have to

make critical decisions.

Medical procedures, political trends, economic practices,

foreign relations, family and personal choices, social customs –

all these require discernment. Mathematics and physical science

alone are not enough. We need the tools of right reason, human

experience, historical awareness, and most of all, faith. We learn

these from literature, art, music, drama, social sciences,

philosophy, and theology.

As we congratulate our graduates, let us pray that they may

become lifelong learners. That they may continue to grow in

wisdom as they grow in age. That they will, most of all, never

cease to grow in grace.

Este es el momento de las graduaciones. Felicitaciones a todos

nuestros feligreses que están dando ese importante paso durante

estos días: a los que se graduaron del octavo grado en la escuela

Blessed Sacrament este fin de semana y a todos nuestros otros

graduados de las escuelas primarias y a los que se graduaron de

las escuelas secundarias católicas y públicas, a nuestra

universidad. graduados y quienes hayan obtenido títulos de

posgrado. Que el Señor continúe bendiciéndote y guiándote a lo

largo de los años venideros. Felicitaciones también a los padres,

maestros, profesores, entrenadores, administradores y todos los

que ayudan a nuestros jóvenes en el camino de la vida.

La educación debe tener como objetivo el desarrollo integral de

la persona: intelectual, física, psicológica, social y

espiritualmente. La Iglesia ve a las escuelas y universidades

católicas como lugares ideales donde se puede realizar este

enfoque integral de la educación. También pide programas de

formación en la fe para quienes asisten a escuelas públicas e

instituciones de educación superior. El objetivo de la educación

debe ser producir un alumno informado, una persona con una

reserva de conocimientos que se dé cuenta de que hay mucho

más que aprender y que tenga las herramientas para realizar ese

aprendizaje. La educación debería preparar a una persona para

más que un trabajo; debe preparar a esa persona para vivir.

En el mundo actual que cambia rápidamente, las personas

cambian de trabajo con frecuencia. La tecnología está siempre

en constante cambio. Una persona educada debe poder adaptarse

al cambio, aprender cosas nuevas. En medio de este cambio,

necesitamos poder hacer juicios correctos. También necesitamos

poder apreciar las cosas de la vida que no cambian: la belleza, la

bondad y la verdad. Tenemos que ser capaces de clasificar la

multitud de imágenes e ideas con las que los medios nos

bombardean y separan el trigo de la paja. Tenemos que tomar

decisiones críticas.

Procedimientos médicos, tendencias políticas, prácticas

económicas, relaciones exteriores, elecciones familiares y

personales, costumbres sociales: todo esto requiere

discernimiento. Las matemáticas y las ciencias físicas por sí

solas no son suficientes. Necesitamos las herramientas de la

razón correcta, la experiencia humana, la conciencia histórica y,

sobre todo, la fe. Los aprendemos de la literatura, el arte, la

música, el teatro, las ciencias sociales, la filosofía y la teología.

Al felicitar a nuestros graduados, oremos para que se conviertan

en aprendices de por vida. Para que sigan creciendo en sabiduría

a medida que envejecen. Que, sobre todo, nunca dejarán de

crecer en gracia.
