UWA Campus Challenge is a week long camp that aims to provide high school students with the opportunity to experience different aspects of university life through participation in academic, sporting, recreational and social activities on campus at the University of Western Australia.

This course focuses on fitness and will improve flexibility, strength, and power of both the upper and lower body and will help you master the basic strikes with both hands and feet.
Combining kickboxing techniques with fitness basics, this course also teaches you a very effective self defence system that’s easy to learn.

Mixed Martial Arts for Fitness is a physically demanding sport that incorporates techniques and styles from multiple disciplines.

Through a series of total body exercises used by elite Mixed Martial Artists from around the world, this course will help you achieve greatly enhanced functional strength, speed, fitness levels and a body worthy of being called ‘fighting fit’.
Exercises include fight-specific movements from Muay Thai and Wrestling incorporated into a 45-minute fitness program. Sessions are based around high intensity cardio and circuit-based weight training to build muscular endurance necessary for a fighter.
No prior martial arts experience is necessary. Personal training equipment is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

This course covers all the basics and safety on the water in a fun environment. You will learn stroke techniques and how to manoeuvre efficiently in a kayak. Ideal for participants with little to no paddling experience.
Intermediates Starts 28 or 29 June | $40 / $55
Continue to gain paddling experience and improve your skills with this 5 week course, including learning to play games like ‘canoe polo’! Participants must have some paddling experience or have completed Paddling for Beginners.
Gold (over 50s) Starts 28 Jun | $40 / $55
A brand new course for those who want to extend their paddling skills to the highest level.
Advanced Starts 29 June | $40 / $55
Check out the view from the UWA Watersports Complex on Matilda Bay, which is where the Gold paddling group is based. Meet at 11:30am for a land-based flexibility/fitness session with a physiotherapist, followed up with lunch on the balcony, before joining the dolphins on the water.

Avon Descent Training Course
Tackle the mighty Avon River and really challenge yourself this winter.

Boat Hire: $100
Focusing on building the technique and strength to complete the 133km long course from Northam to Garrat Rd Bridge, this 10 week course includes regular training sessions and 5 day trips for hands-on experience on the Avon River.
Suitable even for beginner paddlers, but optimal for intermediate and advanced paddlers. Participants must be able to swim and have a reasonable level of fitness.
This course commences on 2 June and runs until race day (6 & 7 August). Boats can be hired through the UWA Watersports Complex.

All you need to know to take great photographs is covered in this course. You’ll learn about different topics such as portraiture, landscape, and night and travel photography.
This course focuses on composition, exposure control, and camera settings. Students are encouraged to bring in work for discussion.
