EXT. WOODS - LATE AFTERNOON
David lies on the floor handcuffed. His eyes slowly open as
he starts working his way towards getting up. Dirt and soggy
leaves stick to his clothes as he makes his way towards a
standing position. He nearly trips from dizziness.
FADE WHITE
INT. HOUSE - MORNING
Jack wakes up from a nice soft bed. He sniffs the air.
He leaves the bedroom and makes his way towards the kitchen
where he finds David cooking canned beans from a portable
gas stove.
Light comes in through the windows contrasting with the
dreary world that they live in.
JACK
Morning.
DAVID
Morning.
Jack makes his way towards the beans.
DAVID
No. Look what I found.
David points towards the dining room table that has a
gas-container.
DAVID
I have decided that we stop
procrastinating.
JACK
How many times have you said that?
DAVID
Well while you were sleeping in I
went out to a nearby hotel and
grabbed a map, and found a nearby
Home Depot.
David throws Jack a garden hose that has been cut at a
length in order to get fuel from a car’s gas tank.

DAVID (CONT’D)
I’ll keep your beans warm Jack.
David switches the gas stove to low heat.
JACK
(smiling)
Alright.
DAVID
I will scout out some nearby houses
while you do that. I’ll be back in
an hour or two.
David makes his way towards the front door. He grabs an
empty duffel bag on his way.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - MORNING
He starts making his way down the sidewalk. Everything on
earth seems very stale from a lack of activity and sound.
CUT
INT. GARAGE - MORNING
Jack has the garden hose in the engine of a car and starts
sucking on the garden hose to get the liquid dinosaur out of
the car.
Jack gets a mouthful of fuel and spits it out and starts
gagging and spitting to get the taste out.
He suddenly realizes that the fuel is going everywhere, and
then makes sure the hose starts dumping the fuel into the
gas can.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE - MORNING
David opens the door to the house and is immediately met by
an unbearable smell. It is a mixture of rotting corpses in
the house and food that has been rotting in the
refrigerator.
David backs away, starts coughing, and spits to get the
taste out of his mouth.

EXT. HOUSE - MORNING
Jack is getting fuel out of a different car that is parked.
David walks by as Jack gets a mouthful of fuel.
David makes a groan as if he is enjoying food to mock Jack.
Jack spits out the fuel and laughs.
David make his way into the house.
INT. HOUSE - MORNING
David grabs a breathing mask.
CUT
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE - MORNING
With the breathing mask on, David makes his way into the
house. The house appears normal on the inside.
David makes his way towards the kitchen and sees the
refrigerator that appears normal at first, but has a
mysterious brown liquid that has both pooled and dried on
the ground beneath it.
David shifts his attention over towards the cabinets. He
grabs whatever wouldn’t be affected by whatever toxins are
floating throughout the house. Once his duffel bag is packed
with everything David makes his way towards other rooms in
the house. One of the items is a big canister of Tang.
David finds the living room where there is a rotting corpse
on the bed. On the night stand next to the bed lies a hand
crank radio. David grabs it.
CUT
EXT. HOUSE - MORNING

DAVID
Well get the generator running and
we’ll be in business.
David goes inside and puts all of the food that he found,
away into their own cabinets. He then to one of his other
bags and pulls out a stack of DVDs.
The films are: The Big Lebowski,Goodfellas, Zombieland,
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Star Wars, Wall-E, and Pulp
Fiction.
MONTAGE: DAVID AND JACK WATCHING FAMOUS SCENES FROM EACH
FILM
Donnie’s funeral in "The Big Lebowski"
"You think I’m Funny?" from Goodfellas.
The scene where Talihasee is in the concession stand booth
from "Zombieland."
The French Guard scene from "Monty Python and the Holy
Grail"
The Mos Eisley scene from "Star Wars" where the band is
playing the catchy music.
The scene from Wall-E where Eve and Wall-E are flying
through space
While watching the scene from Wall-E Jack looks over and
sees his little brother sitting on the floor watching
Wall-E. This makes Jack feel happy but the happiness quickly
turns to sorrow.
"Say what again!" scene from Pulp Fiction. This time David
and Jack imitate the scene as it is playing on the
television.
JACK
You were finished? Well allow me to
retort. What does Marcellus Wallis
look like?
DAVID
What?
Jack hits off some food plates that are on the table.
JACK
What country you from?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 5.
DAVID
Wha, What?
JACK
What ain’t no country ain’t no
country I ever heard of. They speak
English in what?
JACK
Jack
They both are finding it nearly unbearable to not break out
laughing.
DAVID
English motherfucker do you speak
it?
David starts losing it.
DAVID
Yes.
JACK
Then you know what I’m saying.
Describe what Marcellus Wallis
looks like.
DAVID
What?
JACK
Say what again! Say what again! I
dare you, I double dare you
motherfucker. Say what one more
goddamn time.
At this point they are both laughing too hysterically to be
able to continue quoting the film.
This continues till the scene finishes with the bible verse.
After the bible verse ends David starts to doze off.

It is before the apocalypse.

their couch.

His girlfriend lets out a cute laugh as Vincent and Mia are

her hair behind her ear.

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT
The car crash scene abruptly wakes David up. He looks down
towards his hands and finds them in the position of which he
was brushing his now dead girlfriend’s hair back.
David relaxes his hands and sets them down. His eyes swell
up with tears, but nothing actually begins to flow.
David stands up and sees Jack who is asleep. He walks over
and turns the television off.
David lays back down on the couch and drifts asleep.
FADE
INT. HOUSE - MORNING
Jack slowly wakes up. He can hear food on the portable gas
stove.
He makes his way towards the kitchen and finds David cooking
some canned ravioli.
JACK
Any more tasks you need me to do
before I eat mastah?
DAVID
(chuckling)
No.
David serves up a plate of ravioli for Jack.
DAVID
Want some fresh squeezed Tang with
that?
JACK
(chuckling)
Yeah.
David scoops some of the powder into David’s water canteen.
He starts shaking it up to spread out the powder.

CONTINUED: 7.
JACK
So what is the plan for today?
DAVID
Well it has been a week too long
since we have done a scouting
mission, so I figured we should go
a head and go down those train
tracks that are right outside of
town.
Jack takes a bite of ravioli.
JACK
Sounds good.
DAVID
I also forgot to mention that I
found one of those hand-crank
radios while I was doing my supply
run yesterday.
JACK
Really? Dude, lemme see.
David makes his way towards the duffel bag and pulls out the
radio.
He makes his way back towards the kitchen.
DAVID
I haven’t gotten any time to fiddle
with it yet. But I grabbed it
because we don’t have to go
searching for batteries.
David begins cranking the radio to get it to turn on while
Jack is chowing down on his food.
David gets it to turn on.
DAVID
There we go!
JACK
Good job David.
He then begins to flip through the channels. They don’t get
anything back but static.
DAVID
Anyways, it gives us something do
to while we are walking.

JACK
True.
FADE
EXT. TRAIN TRACKS - AFTERNOON
The train tracks are surrounded by a forest.
David is fiddling with the radio.
DAVID
Jack it’s your turn to use it.
JACK
Okay.
David hands the radio to Jack.
Jack looks at all of the buttons on the radio. The antenna
is already out. He puts his hand on the crank.
JACK
Jesus David, I didn’t know a person
could sweat so much from the palms
of their hands.
Jack opens up a rubber tab on the side where he finds a
whole bunch of ports for different kinds of electronics.
JACK
Holy shit!
DAVID
What?
JACK
Hold up a moment.
DAVID
Why?
JACK
Remember that Mp3 player you were
nagging to me about holding onto?
DAVID
Yeah.
JACK
Well look at what this thing has.
(CONTINUED)

Jack pulls an MP3 player out of his bag and begins charging
it off of the hand radio.
FADE
EXT. TRAIN TRACKS - LATER
Jack is listening to music with one earphone on, the radio
in one hand, and the MP3 player in the other. Meanwhile
David is looking at the map.
David gets Jack’s attention. He shows him the map.
DAVID
If we take a right, here and go
straight we will hit some suburbs
that we haven’t been to before.
FADE
EXT. WOODS - AFTERNOON
David and Jack walk along the woods. Jack is still listening
to music, as David tests out other radio frequencies.
David looks out and appears shocked by something.
David quickly pulls Jack behind a tree for cover.
JACK
(Obnoxiously loud due to the
music)
What?
DAVID
(whispering)
Keep your voice down.
Jack pulls out his earphones.
JACK
Why?
David points in the distance, and it is revealed that there
is a group of four people walking in the distance.
JACK
What? They’re just a group of
fellow survivors.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 10.
DAVID
Let’s just let them pass.
JACK
What? Why? We haven’t seen other
people in practically a year. David
that is your problem, even before
everyone died you were suspicious
of everyone.
DAVID
Let’s just scout out that suburb
and be done with today.
JACK
Calm down, it is not like all of
the food and water is gone from the
world and they will eat us.
DAVID
It isn’t worth the risk.
JACK
There isn’t a risk David. Let’s see
where they came from and where they
are going. We don’t need to take in
more people or anything.
DAVID
No let’s not do that.
JACK
Dude, there isn’t any risk.
DAVID
I swear to god if you-
JACK
(to the group of people)
HEY!
DAVID
Son of a bitch.
David bites down on his fist.
The group of people seem confused at first then one of the
members of the group points towards Jack and David and start
making their way towards them.
JACK
Calm down David. Look they aren’t
doing anything.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 11.
David snaps and starts sprinting in the other direction.
The group sees that and starts running towards them.
Two members of the group are much faster runners than David
and Jack and aren’t carrying anything.
They manage to get hold of both Jack and David. David tries
wiggling out of the grip of a man of which is much stronger
than he is. The man isn’t amused by this and throws David
against a tree and follows up with a punch.
FADE WHITE
EXT. WOODS - LATE AFTERNOON
David approaches the tree and touches where he was slammed
against.
He then looks over his shoulder and sees Jack lying on the
floor.
David begins frantically looking around where Jack is lying.
FADE WHITE
EXT. WOODS - AFTERNOON
Jack is on the floor and is stunned by the punch.
GROUP MEMBER 1
Grab their stuff, and put some
cuffs on the one that just got
punched.
They proceed to grab Jack and David’s stuff and one of the
bandits puts handcuffs on David.
The group gets together to decide what to do with David and
Jack.
David is still barely holding onto consciousness.
GROUP MEMBER 1
(looking towards Jack)
Hey you... Think fast.
The bandit throws the key to David’s handcuffs towards Jack.
Jack misses the key and it lands amongst the leaves. The
group starts laughing hysterically as Jack attempts to find
the key.
(CONTINUED)

David was able to see the guy throw the key over towards
Jack.
One of the group members hits David again as another comes
up from behind Jack and uses a rear naked choke to render
him unconscious for a while.
FADE WHITE
EXT. WOODS - LATE AFTERNOON
David wasn’t able to find the key from his frantic
searching. He looks down at an unconscious Jack.
David wraps the metal that connect the two cuffs around
Jack’s neck and places his foot against his back.
David proceeds to strangle Jack.
Jack soon wakes up in a panic form being strangled. A close
up of him being strangled shows panic in his eyes.
In the foreground of this close up we see the key to the
handcuffs laying slightly under a leaf. Jack attempts to
point at the key, but to no avail, and dies knowing where
the key to David’s handcuffs are.
