Basketball - Jackson Vs Mr Barby Jackson in 4T has just recently had corrective surgery on his wrist and leg but this didn’t stop him challenging Mr Barby to a basketball shootout. Mrs Kellie Harding, who has been supporting Jackson at school, contacted ‘Everyday Mobility’ in Ulladulla who kindly donated a wheelchair for the day of the big match. With a few adjustments to the chair and to Mr Barby’s arm and leg, the shootout began in front of a crowd of curious onlookers. Jackson and Mr Barby were neck and neck with the score at 3 all and then fatigue, poor shooting and poor ability set in for Mr Barby. Jackson kept moving closer to the magic 10 shots to win, whilst Mr Barby only managed one more basket. Jackson, on fire, was the eventual winner smashing the more experienced Mr Barby 10 baskets to 4! Congratulations Jackson! War on Waste: WOW! This week's wonderful Warriors are: Staffroom: Marlee Louise, Bahlie, Evie, Ashley, Zara and Jalilah Compost: Cassie, Ever, Taz, Lois and Bethany Return and Earn: Lorelai, Ella, Hunter, Jack and Quinn Soft Plastic: Clancy, Shye, Ciarn and Charlie

Superstars! The committee had their weekly meeting and elevated four more fabulous Warriors to the title of "Superstar"! Congratulations firstly to Saskya, Lucy and Lucy.

Your commitment to "Compost" last week was exemplary. You were dedicated, reliable, enthusiastic and had high expectations for the whole school. You demonstrated initiative by creating a small skit aimed at increasing students' awareness of just exactly what is, and what is not, compost. Please remember, as the girls said, no soft plastic in compost! Our fourth and final "Superstar" for the week is Clancy. A total commitment to soft plastic and leading by example for our younger and newer Warriors. Also, you have shown a total commitment as well to "Lids for Kids". Bringing in an entire bag full for the bucket at the Canteen. Thanks Clancy! A reminder from Grace in Year 6 who helped in establishing "Lids for Kids" at MPS. First week, 358 lids. Last week, a lot less. Let's remember to save them at school and bring them in from home!

Canberra Excursion Highlights Early Wednesday morning, about 103 excited, yet nervous Year 6 kids were up and ready to get on the bus. "Bye Mum, Bye Dad", we yelled. Later that day we arrived in the Capital of Australia, Canberra! Lake Burley Griffin was the first amazing sight that made us go WOW! The first day was jam packed with educational sights including muse-ums and learning all about Lake Burley Griffin on a cruise. That evening we hopped back on the bus and headed to Questacon. Here we learned about science and gravity while also going into exhibits where there were earthquake rooms and an almost vertical slide which made you feel weightless for a moment. For the next two days we visited the AIS, The Australian Mint, The War Memorial, Parliament house and the National Museum. On this trip my friends and I learned a lot about the capital of Australia and I am grateful for the opportunity. I know that everyone enjoyed this trip and I recommend this camp to everyone. Alison

Pedestrian Safety It has been noticed that some parents are not stopping at the childrens' crossing in Thomas Street to allow pedestrians, usually our students, safe passage across the street. The message to all parents is simple and easy to follow: Be vigilant and do the right thing! The safety of our children is paramount and is everyone's responsibility. It is far more important to be aware of people around you than securing a parking space outside the front gate. I will be asking the Ranger to attend school during our busy drop-off and pick-up times to enforce the rules that are in place to ensure

Lions International Peace Poster Contest ‘Journey of Peace’ We are pleased to announce that Ivy, Anthony and Grace are the talented artists chosen to have their Peace Posters judged at the next level by the local Lions Club representatives. Congratulations and thank you to all of the students who entered the competition for your effort and amazing art work.

Operation Art Milton PS's four Operation Art finalists were presented with their certificates at yesterday's assembly. Congratulations to Saskya, Millah, Jarrah and Noah who's artworks have been professionally framed and will form part of an exhibition at the Armory Gallery in Homebush. The students have been invited to the opening ceremony of the exhibition. We encourage our entire school community, if you are in Sydney while this exhibition is running, to attend. It is free and the artworks from around the state are breathtaking. The park near the Armory Gallery is also fabulous! Well done to our talented artists!

4A News 4A are running a hairspray stall at this year's fete. It would be great if each student could bring in one or two cans of coloured hairspray. 4A also need empty and clean aluminium cans and tins, and egg cartons. Thanks.

So, put it in your diaries and make sure to tell your friends and families too. Everybody is welcome! The fete runs from 11:00am until 2:00pm and is an exciting day for all. Our aim is to raise funds to purchase great resources for the children of Milton Public School. In order for us to make our fete a successful fundraiser, we need the generous support of parents, caregivers, grandparents and volunteers to help run the stalls.
