    Hello everyone and Happy New Year! On this document you will find home learning activities that can be completed with your child . We have not set a specific timetable for you to follow on set days. This enables you to be flexible and complete the activities as and when it suits you and your family. We recognise how important you and your child's emotional and mental well-being is, especially during these uncertain times. Therefore if you need a pyjama day with movies and treats, have one! If you need to spend the day outside enjoy it! Please remember that you can contact us in school with any queries, concerns or any help you may need. We love to see what the children have been doing and would be delighted if you could upload any of their work onto HWB . You will find step by step ‘How to…’ guides below and on the year group page. Have fun, keep safe and hopefully we will see you all very soon!

    After watching, discuss the story and ask your child questions to ensure their understanding e.g. Why was baby bear upset? Why didn’t Goldilocks like Mammy’s porridge? etc

    Encourage your child to retell the

    story to you. Make a bowl of porridge for Goldilocks and use ordering language. First, next, then and finally

    Colour and cut out the pictures and sequence the story. (Page 6) use ordering language as above.

    In the story the pot is magic. Can you think of something that you would like to be magic? What would it do? Can you draw it and write words or sentences to describe it.

    Comparison of size Find 3 or 4 similar objects and then order them from the smallest to the largest. Repeat with different objects (spoons, bowls, pencils, shoes etc) Can you now order the objects by length, from the shortest to longest. As an extension your child can complete activity- (Page 13-14) What’s your favourite breakfast? Data – Ask a grown up in your house what their favourite breakfast is and make a tally chart to show the results. Can you ring a friend or family member and ask them too? (Page 15) if you do not have access to a printer you can draw a simple table and fill in.

    Being helpful Talk about the importance of saying ‘Sorry’. Talk about how the bears felt after what Goldilocks did? How would you feel? What do you think Goldilocks should say to the bears and why?

    Take a picture of you and your bowl of porridge and upload it onto HWB.

    Mathematics and Numeracy

    - Number recognition to 5 once they are confident move on to then 10, to 20 and beyond. - Practise counting objects and matching to numbers. How many do you have altogether? Can you give 4 me buttons? Etc - Practise number formation. - Counting - on/back from different numbers

    e.g. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 6,5,4,3,2,1 - 1 More and place value.

    e.g. What number is 1 more than 5? Which number comes in between 3 and 5? They can order numbers and use them to help.
