ALL SERV ICE septic , LLC pertonned a subsurface investigation and an onsite wastewater treatmen t system (OWTS) design for the subject residence. The property is located outside of Glenwood Springs. in an area where OWTSs are necessary.

SITE CONDITIONS

A 4-bedroom. single-family residence presentl y ex ists and is utilizing an eX lstlllg OWTS. The ex isting OWTS is experiencing problems and there is a desire to replace the absorption area. The ex isting tank can continue to be utili zed. Potable water is prov ided to the subdi vis ion by a commun ity wate r system.

SUBSURFACE

The subsurface was invest igated by di gg ing one 8-foot prolile pit and taking a so il sample from approximately 3-lcet below grade. A gradation anal ysis and hydrometer analysis was run by I-II' Geotech and results are detailed in a report dated October 4, .l ob No I 13 064 Y.

The materia ls encountered in the prolil e pit consisted of 2-feet of dark brown. clayey sandy topso il. underlain by li ght brown, loose. sand with cobbles 2 to S-inches in diameter to S.O-feet, unclerlain by li ght brown. loose. sand with large r cobbles 6- inches to I-foot in diameter to a maxi mum depth explored of 8.0-fcel. No bedrock or groundwater was encountered. The gradati on perlormecl by I-IP Geotech shows the soil consists of 10% grave l. 63% sand. 20% silt and 7% clay. The USDA so il type is c lassined as Sandy Loam. A percolation rllte of 25 minutes pcr inch will be used to dcsigu the OWTS.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

The OWTS des ign is based on 4-bedrooms. An average dail y wastewater 11011' of 900 GPO will be used. The ex isting 1500-ga llon. two-compartment poly septic tank will remain in use. A new distribution box will be install ed, accessible from grade, and will di stribute effluent to three grave lless chamber trenches. each with 16 'Quick 4' Inliltrator® chambers for a total of 48 chambers and 473 sq uare feet. No large cobbles should be present in the backlill over th e chambers. Backlill materi al should be li'ee of cobbles greater than 4-inches in diamete r.

The component manufacturers are typ ical of applications used by contractors and engineers in this area. Alternatives may be considered or recommended by contacting our oftice. Const ruction must be according to Garfield County Sewage Disposal Regulations, the Indi vidual Sewage Disposal (ISDS) Permit provided by Garfield County Building Department, and this design.

REVEGETATION REQUIREMENTS

An adequate laye r of good quality topso il capable of supporting revegetation shall be placed over the entire disturbed are of the OWTS installation. A mi xture of nati ve grass seed that has good so il stabilizing characteristics (but without taproots), provides a maxi mum transpiration rate. and cOl11petes we ll with success ional spec ies. No trees or shrubs, or any vegetati on rcquiring regul ar irritation shall be plated over the area, Until vegetation is reestabli shed, eros ion and sediment control measures shall be

implemented and mai ntai ned on site. The owner of the OWTS shall be responsible lo r maintaining proper vegetation cover.

OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE

The property owner shall be responsible lo r the operation and maintenance of each OWTS servicing the property. The property owner is responsible I'o r mai ntaining service contracts for manufactured units. alternating absorption systems. and any other components needing maintenance.

Gco-fab ri cs or plasti cs should not be used over the absorption area. No heavy eq uipment, mac hi nery, or materia ls should be placed on backfi lled absorption area. Li vestock should not graze on the absorpt ion area. Plumbing fi xtures should be checked to ensure that no additional water is being discharged to OWTS. For example. a running toilet or leaky faucet can discharge hundreds of ga llons of water a day and harm an absorption area.

The homeowner should pump the sept ic ta nk every two years, or as needed gauged by measurement of so li ds in the tank. Garbagc di sposa l use should be minimized, and non-biodegradab le material s should not be placed into the OWTS. Grease shoul d not be placed in household drains. Loading from a water so ft ener should not be di scharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directcd into the OWTS. Mechani ca l room drains should not di scharge into the OWTS. The OWTS is engineered for domesti c waste onl y.

ADDITIONAL CONST RUCTION NOTES

If design includes a pump. air release va lves and weep ho les shou ld be installed to all ow pump lines to dra in to minimize risk of li·cezing. Excavat ion equipment must not drive in excavation of the absorption area due to the potcntial to compact soil. Ex tensions shoul d be placed on all septic tank components to allow access to them from ex isting grade.

INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS

ALL SERV ICE septic. LLC must vi ew the OWTS during constructi on. The OWTS observati on should be perlo rmed before backfill. after placement ofOWTS components. Septic tanks, di stribution devices. pumps, dosing siphons. and other plumbing, as appli cab le. must also be obse rved. ALL SERV ICE septic , LLC should be notified 48 hours in adva nce to obse rve the install ation.

LIMITS:

The design is based on informat ion submitted. If so il conditions encountered are d iffe rent fi'om conditions descri bed in report. ALL SE RVI CE septic. LLC should be notifi ed. All OWTS constructi on must be according to th e county regulations. Requirements not spec ilied in thi s report must fo llow app licab le county regulations. The installer should have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are wo rking.
