Fell or Moorland is another that uses length measurements to calculate this area.

Water depth is measured in fathoms. 1 fathom is equal to 6 feet

Sand; an example, the length of a beach is measured in sq feet, but sand amount can also be measured in cubic feet (volume) using this equation - third of ft x length x width x depth

Coast of the sea can have a lower water depth than the water surrounding the coast.

Fathoms are numerical as symbols on a map because of the different water depths at different areas along the sea bed. Based on the distance between the fingertips of a man's outstretched arms.

Here is a problem where maps like these OS maps, are 720 sq feet in width and length, missing 106,919 sq feet, to be able to show a Hectare in feet.

A Chain, an early measurement, being the length of a cricket pitch. It is equal to 66 feet, which is 4356 sq ft. This map is missing 3654 sq ft to show a Chain.

A Yard, A unit of length equal to 3 feet. Also mentioned as a foot equals a third of a yard. This is calcualated exactly as 9 sq ft and is shown on this map.

An Acre, a unit of area that equals 4840 square yards (divided by 2) = 2420 yards. then divided by 3 (how many feet there is to a yard) which equals 806.66 foot. Then in sq ft it is 1613.32. This map is missing 893.32 sq ft to be able to show an Acre.

A Rod is a unit of length equal to 5.5 yards, 5.0292 meters, 16.5 feet. Which is 272.25 sq ft and this map is big enough to show the exact area of a Rod.

Population can be measured as people per square feet.
