When we were created by God it
says in Genesis that we are “very
good”. The rest of creation is simply
called “good”. There is a distinction
that I believe we understand at an early
age and later begin to lose.
I would imagine that when all of
us were young we were all artists of
some sort. There was probably more
than one piece of our artwork proudly
displayed on the refrigerator at home.
Maybe it was a picture we created our-
selves or perhaps we colored in a color-
ing book. Our families celebrated our
art and made us feel like the kitchen
was a modern day museum.
We may have moved onto clay
pinch pots or wood or other mediums
that we experimented with in shop
class. Some people stayed with it while
most of us would claim that we are no
artist.
What is it about growing up that
we become discouraged about our abil-
ity to create something special for the
world to see? Why is it that as young
children we feel comfortable singing in
front of others and waving in a carefree
way at family members in the audience?

Inside This Issue
God created us and we ALL have the ability
to create art. All it takes is a little imagina-
tion and some desire. Perhaps we cannot
paint like Picasso (Is that a bad thing?) or
sculpt like Michelangelo (God already made
one of those). But didn’t God give us the
ability to create and be creative?
Maybe it is time to break out a color-
ing book and some crayons and create art
once again. Color inside or outside of the
lines. Spend some time this summer having
the faith of a child. Trust that God made you
special, that God made you and me and eve-
ryone else “very good”.
Coloring books and crayons will be
available at both entrances in the month of
May to explore the artist in you. Hang a pic-
ture on your own refrigerator. Celebrate the
child of God that you have always been.
Peace,
Pastor Jim

ANNUAL LETTER
CARRIES FOOD DRIVE
Saturday, May 12, 2018
For over two decades, this
national drive has proved criti-
cal in helping millions of
American families who are
struggling to make ends meet.
Our food closet directly benefits from this effort.
Carriers from this area are assigned to bring their
food pick-ups to our food closet. Help will be need-
ed on May 12 to carry the food from the mail trucks
as they arrive and to sort the food after delivery
from the carriers. To volunteer or for answers to
your questions, please contact:
Curt Ferree (717-741-0444).
DIRECTORY Please make the following change to your directories

ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE We are hopeful that we will be able to disburse funds
in fall 2018. Please remember that there are no guar-
antees. Just as a reminder, the funds are disbursed
based on the following: 30% will be reinvested for
future needs, 10% will be designated for outside be-
nevolence, and the final 60% will be disbursed based
upon church member requests.
Applications should be received at the church no
later then July 31, 2018. Endowment guidelines and
an application are on the next two pages. Any ques-
tions may be directed towards any of the committee
members: Judy Hess, Joe Smith or Pastor Jim.

Mabel Grove Trust Guidelines
Deadline for the application is July 31, 2018
The funds are designated to fulfill the mission of the congregation.
Mission Statement
The application shall be placed in the Endowment Committee mailbox or mailed and received by the
church office by July 31, 2018. The Endowment Committee will forward the respective application to the ap-
propriate committee for review and for them to make a recommendation. The recommendations shall be sent
to the Endowment Committee by August 31st and they will be reviewed and recommendations made for the
Church Council appropriate to the amount of funds available. The Church Council will make the final
decisions for these funds.
Additional application forms may be created by copying the enclosed form or contacting the church
office. After this process is complete we will have future disbursements, as funds allow, every six months.
Just a reminder that 30% of the gain in the fund will be reinvested to help grow the fund for future
ministry. 10% of the increase has been designated towards ministry outside of this congregation. That could
be something in our community, synod, nation or world. The remaining 60% will be disbursed this fall.
Any questions may be directed towards the Endowment Committee members: Danna Drescher,
Judy Hess, Joe Smith, or Pastor Jim.
With the volatility of the stock market, there is no guarantee that funds will be available.
However, we are hopeful based on the past few months’ financial returns.
Centered in Christ to gather, grow and go.
