At Reaseheath College we
pride ourselves on putting
our students at the
heart of all we do by
inspiring achievement
and driving ambition,
giving them the best
possible start for a
successful career in
the land-based
industry. We provide
an exciting range of
technical courses in a
supportive and caring
environment.
Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic
staff will be with you throughout your journey to help
you achieve your goal, whether that’s finding
employment or progressing on to a higher level course
at college or university. Last year 97% of our students
achieved their qualification and over 90% progressed
into employment or on to higher level courses.
All of our courses are career focused with every student
now completing a significant work placement as part of
their programme of learning. This valuable experience,
coupled with our strong links with employers, means
that you will leave college with the technical skills and
academic knowledge that the industry wants and needs.
Over recent years we have invested over £50 million
in cutting edge technology and world-class facilities,
with a further £30 million investment planned for the
campus over the next few years. This includes a new
hall of residence for 200 students, a new Agriculture
Technology Centre, Sports Science Academy,
science laboratories and an extended HE Centre
and Employer Hub.
The ‘Reaseheath Experience’ our learners receive is
something many of our former students tell us was the
most enjoyable time of their lives. Our friendly and
welcoming campus regularly hosts sporting events,
evening entertainment and all students are invited to
get involved in our Student Association.
During your time at Reaseheath you will not only
develop knowledge in your chosen area, but build
confidence and life skills in a supported environment.
Our most recent Ofsted Care Standards inspection
graded us Outstanding in all areas, meaning that our
student support and care is amongst the best in the
country. Our higher education quality inspection led by
the Quality Assurance Agency for HE in 2014 was
similarly outstanding.
Read on to find out more about the range of exciting
opportunities available at Reaseheath and please
come and see us at one of our Taster Days or Course
Open Events.
I look forward to welcoming you to Reaseheath soon.

(LSC) all based in the Centrepoint building.
Student ServicesReaseheath’s Student Services Team is always

22% of employers would not employ people
without GCSEs. Not only is it easier to find
employment with GCSEs, but the starting salary
of young people with GCSEs is over £2,000 more
than those without, and the gap is widening.

Do you adore animals? If you become an animal
management student with us you’ll be in good
company, as it’s our most popular department!
You’ll be based at our fantastic purpose built animal
centre with its licensed teaching zoo – facilities
which are among the best in the UK. Even more
exciting, you’ll have the chance to work with 125
different species of animals including tapirs,
meerkats, ring tailed lemurs, otters, birds of prey,
reptiles, fish, amphibians and a range of companion
and park animals.
Your classroom lectures will come to life as you
carry out your practical sessions with the animals in
our collection, and you’ll be with like-minded
students so you’ll have a lot of fun as well! You may
help to give Ernie, one of our tapirs, a bath - or take
our ferrets for a walk. You’ll also do relevant work
experience as part of your course.
Whatever your interests, you’ll be encouraged to
gain as many experiences as possible and to explore
the many exciting and varied careers on offer.
These courses are a great springboard to degree
courses, particularly if you’re interested in science,
biology or zoology, and there are lots of research
opportunities. Some of our students go into wildlife
conservation after gaining work experience with big
game animals in Africa. Others follow fulfilling
careers in pet retail outlets, veterinary nursing or
become keepers in zoos or farm parks. What will
you choose to do?
Our students tell us they most enjoy:
• Working hands-on with our collection of over 1,000
mammals, reptiles, birds and fish
• Going behind the scenes at leading animal collections
and zoos
• Receiving great teaching and support from our tutors
and keepers, who have a wealth of knowledge and
industry experience
• Being offered great opportunities for research and
work experience, thanks to our links within
the industry
• Joining our Herpetological and Entomological Society
and helping to monitor rare species of toads
and lizards
• Becoming members of our Conservation Society
and fundraising for Chester Zoo to raise awareness
of orangutans
• Getting great career tips and contacts from visiting
speakers and former students
