Our roots in agriculture run deep.Our company began in the 1950s as the agricultural unit of The Dow Chemical Company. From the beginning, we have set out to discover and develop innovative solutions that improve the way the world farms. In 1989, The Dow Chemical Company entered a joint venture with the Elanco Plant Sciences business of Eli Lilly and Company, resulting in the formation of DowElanco. In 1997, The Dow Chemical Company acquired 100 percent ownership of the business and renamed it Dow AgroSciences.

Today, as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, we are one of the world’s leading agricultural companies.

Crop SolutionsWe offer crop protection products that give growers the tools they need to improve productivity and profitability, and help keep fields free of weeds, insects and diseases.

Vegetation ManagementForestry areas, utility rights-of-way, railroads and roadways must be kept free of weeds and brush that can disrupt electrical power transmission and transportation. Our herbicide solutions are a cost-effective alternative and help maintain the surrounding environment.

Seeds, Traits, & OilsOur seeds and traits research is committed to increasing yields for growers worldwide by improving genetics and stress tolerance, and helping to ensure effective weed and insect control. New investment in research, in combination with strategic collaborations and acquisitions, is resulting in more productive and resilient crops.

Seed VarietiesOur seed varieties address a broad spectrum of crops, including corn, soybeans, cotton, oilseeds and forage. Through our affiliates in North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and India, many of our varieties have reached elite status through cultivation on at least a half-million acres annually, with some exceeding a million acres per annum.

Plant ImprovementOur high-quality germplasm has been the basis for innovations in conventional breeding and plant biotechnology. Pest and disease management traits enhance the yield potential of seeds and allow growers to improve efficiency, while reducing the impact of farming on the environment through such practices as conservation tillage.

Our innovations also enhance the production of meat and dairy through feed and forage. For example, our Brachiaria hybrids are forage grasses with superior quality, yield and adaptation, allowing farmers to increase the number of grazing animals per hectare.

Healthy OilsOur investment in canola and sunflower seed is an ongoing commitment to human health and wellness. The resulting Omega-9 Healthy Oils have replaced more than 1.5 billion pounds of trans and saturated fats from the North American food supply since 2005.

Product stewardship is the responsible and sustainable management of our agrochemical and biotechnology products throughout their life cycle. This life cycle includes the development, production, distribution, use, discontinuation, and disposal management of our products.

Promoting product stewardship through industry initiatives.As a founding member of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care initiative, we collaborate with others in the industry to address the safe and secure management of products and processes. Our company is also a founding member of the plant biotechnology industry’s Excellence Through Stewardship initiative, which includes third-party audits to verify that participants have stewardship programs and quality management systems in place. As an active member of Field-to-Market and The Sustainability Consortium, we are influencing the future direction and policies of product stewardship and sustainability by which our industry will adopt for the betterment of agriculture, the environment and society.

Ensuring health and safety while protecting the environment.In addition to protecting the health and safety of consumers, farm workers and farm neighbors, we are committed to finding ways to minimize the environmental impact of our products while maintaining their effectiveness.
