This document is for people who do not understand the reality of magic (also evil eye, jinn possession), how it works and it's cure according to Qur'an and Sunnah. The only purpose of this document is to spread knowledge by the permission of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). Neither, we make any money out of this document nor do we accept any money either as a gift or for any other reason the only reason of us making this effort is to try to seek Allah's pleasure by spreading –

knowledge and possibly earn ticket to Jannah. For it's better for us if Allah guide one person through us;

Allah's Apostle said, "Tomorrow I will give the flag to a man with whose leadership Allah will grant (the Muslim) victory." So the people kept on thinking the whole night as to who would be given the flag. The next morning the people went to Allah's Apostle and every one of them hoped that he wouldbe given the flag. The Prophet said, "Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?" The people replied, "He is suffering from eye trouble, O Allah's Apostle." He said, "Send for him and bring him to me." So when 'Ali came, the Prophet spat in his eyes and invoked good on him, and he became alright as if he had no ailment. The Prophet then gave him the flag. 'Ali said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall I fight them (i.e. enemy) till theybecome like us?" The Prophet said, "Proceed to them steadily till you approach near to them and then invite them to Islam and inform them of their duties towards Allah which Islam prescribes for them, for by Allah, if one man is guided on the right path (i.e. converted to Islam) through you, it would be better for you than (a great number of) red camels." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 5 Book 57 Number 51

May Allah bless you and us with His mercy and knowledge, and may He keep you and us on the straight path and may He, the almighty, give us all Jannah.

Qur'an Surat Al Kahf 18:17– – – (part)

Introduction

This documentI really feel for people who do not understand the reality of magic and they end up going to so called peer or 'aamil not realizing the danger of it. I am not talking about people who willingly go to these so called peers for sehr i.e, magic, but talking about genuinely innocent people who do not have –

enough knowledge and end up doing some dangerous acts that can easily lead them astray. In last few months, by permission of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) I have tried to learn about world of jinn, reality of magic, how it happens, what do we have about it from hadith and Qur'an and Al Hamd O Lililah, by the will of Allah, I have learned a little (if not a lot) of this knowledge. Because this is knowledge of unseen, and no one has knowledge of unseen except Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala (and whom so ever he wills to give this knowledge), we cannot say anything from ourselves; instead we have to back everything up by either an authentic hadith of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) or from verse of Qur'an.

This document has been proofread by Br. Muhammad Tim Humble. May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) reward him with His best rewards. Br. Muhammad Tim has been performing ruqyah for quite long time and ma sha' Allah he has been blessed by good knowledge from Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). Please visit http://muhammadtim.com for details.

ReaderReader of this document is expected to have strong belief in Qur'an and sunnah, because if you do not believe in these, you will not be able to verify any of the narrations in this document. I also strongly recommend to verify these ahadith yourself if you have source (Although I have verified them myself but only saying this so that when you pass this message on you are confident on what you are sharing. O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, “

investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.” Qur'an 49:6). I have tried my best to not just pick up hadith from anywhere, but to verify the full –

reference from book of ahadith and Qur'an. If you find any error in it, please do forgive me as I am a slave of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) who surely make mistakes.

Be mindfulIn order to understand how magic works and it's treatment, we must first understand about jinn. And whilst you are reading this please keep following in your mind;

1. “...But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah... ” – Qur'an 2:1022. “...Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak. ” – Qur'an 4:763. “That is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you

are [indeed] believers. ” – Qur'an 3:1754. No one has knowledge of unseen except Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). Everything and

anything in this document will be in sha' Allah backed up by authentic references from Qur'an and sunnah i.e, hadith of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam)

5. “... He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray never will –

you find for him a protecting guide. ” – Qur'an 18:17

Jinn

What are jinn?Jinn (singular: jinnie) are creatures of Allah. They are created from flame of fire as Allah says in Qur'an

Qur'an Surat Ar Rehman 55:15– – –

رر قسننا لسمن رج لر قسمنا لمن قسن قجنا ول قق ا قل قخ قوAnd He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

Though the jinn are created from fire, we should not think of them as little wisps of fire that are found around us. As we are created from clay (Quran 55:14) yet we cannot remove dust from our skin, likewise, they are created from fire, does not mean they are hot and fiery. We will back this statement up from hadith of Allah's Messenger (May peace and blessings be upon him)

I will in sha' Allah back these statements up by following ahaadith:

It was narrated from Aa ishah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon ‘ ’

him) was praying, then the Shaytaan came to him and he seized him, threw him to the ground and strangled him. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Until I felt the coolness of his tongue on my hand. Were it not for the prayer of my brother Sulaymaan, he would have been tied up this morning so that the people could see him. Narrated by al Nasaa i in ” – ’

al Sunan al Kubra, 6/442; classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibbaan, 6/115 – –

Narrated Abu Huraira: "The Prophet said, "Last night a big demon (afreet) from the Jinns came to me and wanted to interrupt my prayers (or said something similar) but Allah enabled me to overpower him. I wanted to fasten him to one of the pillars of the mosque so that all of you could See him in the morning but I remembered the statement of my brother Solomon (as stated in Qur'an): My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me a kingdom such as shall not belong to anybody after me (38.35)." The sub narrator Rauh said, "He (the demon) was dismissed humiliated." – Sahih Bukhari Vol.1 Book 8 Number 450

“Abu Huraira reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) saying:

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

Ahighly wicked one amongst the Jinn escaped yesternight to interrupt my prayer, but Allah gave me power over him, so I seized him and intended to tie him to one of the pillars of the mosque in order that you, all together or all, might look at him, but I remembered the supplication of my brother Su–laiman:" My Lord, forgive me, give me such a kingdom as will not be possible for anyone after

me"(Qur'an, 38:35). ” – Sahih Muslim Book 4, Number 1104

Jinns were created before mankind as we have several proofs from Qur'an e.g,

Qur'an Surat Al Hijr 15:27– – –

لم همو قسس لر ال قسننا لمن هل وب قق لمن هه قننا وق قل قخ قسن قجنا ول قواAnd the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

What are jinn not?We have discussed what jinns are, now it is very important that we understand what jinns are not, asit is very common to get misled by people who are astray.

• Jinn are not spirits of dead• Jinn are not able to harm anyone at their own will until decree of Allah permits• Iblees was not an angel as Allah says in Qur'an

Qur'an Surat Kahf 18:50– – (part)

لسن... لج ول قن ا لم قن قكنا قس للي وب لإ قسل لإ هدوا قج قس قف قم قد لل هدوا هج وس لة ا قك لئ قل قم ول لل قننا ول هق وذ لإ قوAnd [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. Hewas of the jinn...

Are they good or bad?Not all jinns are good and bad, same as humans, there are many jinns that are good. Again, we will back this statement with a hadith

Narrated By Abu Huraira : That once he was in the, company of the Prophet carrying a water pot for

Page 9: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

his ablution and for cleaning his private parts. While he was following him carrying it(i.e. the pot), the Prophet said, "Who is this?" He said, "I am Abu Huraira." The Prophet said, "Bring me stones in order to clean my private parts, and do not bring any bones or animal dung." Abu Huraira went on narrating: So I brought some stones, carrying them in the corner of my robe till I put them by his side and went away. When he finished, I walked with him and asked, "What about the bone and the animal dung?" He said, "They are of the food of Jinns. The delegate of Jinns of (the city of) Nasibin came to me... and how nice those Jinns were... and asked me for the remains of the human food. I invoked Allah for them that they would never pass by a bone or animal dung but find food on them."

– Sahih Bukhari Vol 5 Book 58 Number 200

Bad creations amongst jinn and humans are referred as Shayateen , but we commonly refer “ ”

shayateen to evil jinns.By above hadith, we also know ma sha' Allah that jinn have animals that subhan Allah we cannot see. What are they created from? Wallah Alam (Allah knows best) like we said we do not have ‘ –

knowledge of unseen, and we are not provided with this knowledge (or not that I am aware of), so we listen and we believe. If jinns are evil, they will be punished in hell fire as well, although they are created from fire but doesnot mean it does not affect them. We, the humans, are created from clay, yet if someone hit us with a brick made up of clay, we feel the pain. We have explained this earlier as well from a hadith in what are jinns section above.

Abilities• We do not see jinns but they do see us. As Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an

Qur'an Surat Al A'raf 7:27– – – (part)

وم هه قن وو قر قت قل هث وي قح ون لم هه هل لبي قق قو قو هه وم هك قرا قي هه قسن لإ

...Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them...

• Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) has given them a lot of strength and power. Some of them can travel vast distances with great speed as mentioned in Qur'an:

Qur'an Surat An Naml 27:39 40– – – –

Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful his gratitude is only for [the –benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous."–

The above ayah talks about particular kind of jinn, as hadith of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) tells us that there are three kind of jinns

“There are three types of jinn: one that flies through the air, one that are snakes and dogs, and one which stay in places and travel about Reported by al Tahhaawi in Mushkil al Athaar, 4/95, …” – – –

and by al Tabaraani in al Kabeer, 22/214. Shaykh al Albaani said in al Mishkaat (2/1206, no. 4148):– – – –

al Tahhaawi and Abu l Shaykh reported it with a Sahih isnaad– ’ –

• Jinns are able to go very high places. As hadith states;

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "When Allah has ordained some affair in the Heaven, the angels beat with their wings in obedience to His statement, which sounds like a chain dragged over a rock." ('Ali and other sub narrators said, "The sound reaches them.") "Until when fear is banished –

from their (angels) hearts, they (angels) say, 'What was it that your Lord said? They say, 'The truth; And He is the Most High, the Most Great.' (34.23) Then those who gain a hearing by stealing (i.e. devils) will hear Allah's Statement: 'Those who gain a hearing by stealing, (stand one over the other––

like this). (Sufyan, to illustrate this, spread the fingers of his right hand and placed them one over the other horizontally.) A flame may overtake and burn the eavesdropper before conveying the news to the one below him; or it may not overtake him till he has conveyed it to the one below him, who in his turn, conveys it to the one below him, and so on till they convey the news to the earth. (Or probably Sufyan said, "Till the news reaches the earth.") Then the news is inspired to a sorcerer who would add a hundred lies to it. His prophecy will prove true (as far as the heavenly news is concerned). The people will say. 'Didn't he tell us that on such and such a day, such and such a – – – –

thing will happen? We have found that is true because of the true news heard from heaven." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 6, Book 60, Number 223

We are also given proof of how jinn are pursued by shooting star or burning flame in Qur'an

Qur'an Surat Al Hijr 15:17 18– – – –

رم لجي قسر رن قطنا وي قش سل ل هك لمن قهنا قننا وظ لف قح قو

And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah ]

Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.

• Some jinns are able to change shapes / forms as we know famous hadith of Abu Huraira–

Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Apostle deputed me to keep Sadaqat (al Fitr) of Ramadan. A comer –

came and started taking handfuls of the foodstuff (of the Sadaqa) (stealthily). I took hold of him and said, "By Allah, I will take you to Allah's Apostle ." He said, "I am needy and have many dependents, and I am in great need." I released him, and in the morning Allah's Apostle asked me, "What did your prisoner do yesterday?" I said, "O Allah's Apostle! The person complained of being needy and of having many dependents, so, I pitied him and let him go." Allah's Apostle said, "Indeed, he told you a lie and he will be coming again." I believed that he would show up again as Allah's Apostle had told me that he would return. So, I waited for him watchfully. When he (showed up and) started stealing handfuls of foodstuff, I caught hold of him again and said, "I will definitely take you to Allah's Apostle. He said, "Leave me,for I am very needy and have many dependents. I promise I will not come back again." I pitied him and let him go.In the morning Allah's Apostle asked me, "What did your prisoner do." I replied, "O Allah's Apostle! He complained of his great need and of too many dependents, so I took pity on him and set him free."Allah's Apostle said, "Verily, he told you a lie and he will return." I waited for him attentively for the third time, and when he (came and) started stealing handfuls of the foodstuff, I caught hold of him and said, "I will surely take you to Allah's Apostle as it is the third time you promise not to return, yet you break your promise and come." He said, "(Forgive me and) I will teach you some words with which Allah will benefit you." I asked, "What are they?" He replied, "Whenever you go to bed, recite"Ayat al Kursi" 'Allahu la ilaha illa huwa l Hai y ul Qaiyum' till you finish the whole verse.– – –– – – –

(If you do so), Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no satan will come nearyou till morning. " So, I released him. In the morning, Allah's Apostle asked, "What did your prisoner do yesterday?" I replied, "He claimed that he would teach me some words by which Allah will benefit me, so I let him go." Allah's Apostle asked, "What are they?" I replied, "He said to me, 'Whenever you go

to bed, recite Ayat al Kursi from the beginning to the end.' He further said to me, '(If you do so), Allah– –

will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you, and no satan will come near you till morning.' (Abu Huraira or another sub narrator)added that they (the companions) were very keen to do good –

deeds. The Prophet said, "He really spoke the truth, although he is an absolute liar. Do you know whom you were talking to, these three nights, O Abu Huraira?" Abu Huraira said, "No." He said, "It was

Satan." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 3. Book 38. Number 505

Should we be scared of them?We should not be scared of any creation of Allah, for Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) has created them and He, the almighty, has full control over them, so you should only fear Allah. If you start to fear these creatures, they will play with you and will try and scare you. Once you stop fearing them and start fearing Allah, they will avoid you as much as possible. There is a famous hadith of prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) regarding how devil / shaitan is scared of Umer (RA):

Narrated By Sad bin Abi Waqqas : Once Umar asked the leave to see Allah's Apostle in whose company there were some Quraishi women who were talking to him and asking him for more financial support raising their voices. When 'Umar asked permission to enter the women got up (quickly) hurrying to screen themselves. When Allah's Apostle admitted 'Umar, Allah's Apostle was smiling, 'Umar asked, "O Allah's Apostle! May Allah keep you gay always." Allah's Apostle said, "I am astonished at these women who were with me. As soon as they heard your voice, they hastened to screen themselves." 'Umar said, "O Allah's Apostle! You have more right to be feared by them." Then he addressed (those women) saying, "O enemies of your own souls! Do you fear me and not Allah's Apostle ?" They replied. "Yes, for you are a fearful and fierce man as compared with Allah's Apostle." On that Allah's Apostle said (to 'Umar), "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, whenever Satan sees you taking a path, he follows a path other than yours." – Sahih Bukhari Vol. 4, Book 54, Number 515.

On top of everything mentioned above, there is a verse of Qur'an mentioned earlier in introduction section, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an:

Qur'an Surat Al 'Imran 3:175– –

[indeed] believers.

Knowledge of unseenJinns do not have knowledge of unseen, As we can see from hadith above (Sahih Bukhari Vol 6, Book 60, Number 223) that fortune teller uses jinn and he gets told hundred of lies with it. Also we are backed up by Qur'an; i.e, had they have knowledge of unseen, they would not be working hard in front of Sulayman (AS) when he passed away as Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an:

And when We decreed for Solomon death, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff. But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment.

Allah has cleared their ability of knowing unseen, now if someone want to argue by saying so and so.. they should go and read tafseer of the ayah above.

Allah would not leave the believers in that [state] you are in [presently] until He separates the evil from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen. But [instead], Allah chooses of His messengers whom He wills, so believe in Allah and His messengers. And if you believe and fear Him, then for you is a great reward.

There is also a famous hadith about how shaytan flows in human body like blood

Narrated Ali bin Al Husain: Safiya, the wife of the Prophet told me that she went to Allah's Apostle to –

visit him in the mosque while he was in Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. She had a talk with him for a while, then she got up in order to return home. The Prophet accompanied her. When they reached the gate of the mosque, opposite the door of Um Salama, two Ansari men were passing by –

and they greeted Allah's Apostle . He told them: Do not run away! And said, "She is (my wife) Safiya bint Huyai." Both of them said, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of any evil) O Allah's Apostle!" Andthey felt it. The Prophet said (to them), "Satan reaches everywhere in the human body as blood reaches in it, (everywhere in one's body). minds." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 3 Book 33 Number 251

It was narrated that `Uthman bin Abul `As said: When the Prophet (Salallaahu alayhi wasallaam) – “

appointed me as governor of Ta`if, I began to get confused during my prayer, until I no longer knew what I was doing. When I noticed that, I travelled to the Prophet (Salallaahu alayhi wasallaam) and he said: 'The son of Abul `As?' I said 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah, I get confused during my prayer, –

until I do not know what I am doing.' He (Salallaahu alayhi wasallaam) said: 'That is Satan. Come here' So I came close to him, and sat upon the front part of my feet then he struck my chest with his hand and put some spittle in my mouth and said: `Get out, O enemy of Allah!' He did that three times, then he said: `Get on with your work'. `Uthman said: 'Indeed, I never felt confused (during my prayer)after that' – Sunan Ibn Majah Vol 4 Book 31 Number 3548 (Sahih Darusalam)–

People who claim to control jinnIf someone tells you they control jinn, first and fore most we have seen from hadith above (– Sahih Bukhari Vol 1 Book 8 Number 450) that we are not allowed to do it. But if people claim that they do have jinns that work for them, they are surely in loss in long term because if jinn is working for him –

it means two things, either they have contract between them (i.e, the person is magician we will –

discuss this in magic section below) or this person does not yet know what jinn is upto. He may lead him astray after working for him for long. So in any way and every way, controlling jinn is not permitted and not good. You may see temporary goodness in it but in long term this will harm you. –

And Allah knows best

Magic

What is magicThe essence of magic is a contract between a magician (Saahir) and a shaytaan amongst jinn. Magician performs all sorts of shirk and disgrace to Qur'an in every manner possible and in return shaytaan obeys him It's a mutual destruction. Remember, there is no such thing as good magic'. – ‘

Treating magic with magic is not permissible, in fact, it is haraam, since all sorts of magic is haraam (not permitted).

Qur'an Surat Al Baqarah 2:102– – –

And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomonwho disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which theycause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah . And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Childrenof Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.

We derive many points of benefits from above ayah, some of them are;• Magic is disbelief• Magic or evil jinn cannot hurt anyone except permission of Allah (either as test or punishment)• Magician knows he has no share in hereafter• Magic can be done to separate man and his wife (and other evil acts)• There is no such thing called Islamic magic“ ”

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

Is magic real?Magic is, with no doubt, real. Allah's Messenger (May peace and blessings be upon him) was affected by magic as we as Muslims know the Al Mu'awwidhatan' (i.e, Surah Falaq (Quran: 113) and Surah ‘ –

Naas (Quran: 114)) were revealed as healing and protection from Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala).

“Narrated 'Aisha (RA): Magic was worked on the Prophet so that he began to fancy that he was doing a thing which he was not actually doing. One day he invoked (Allah) for a long period and then said, "I feel that Allah has inspired me as how to cure myself. Two persons came to me (in my dream) and sat, one by my head and the other by my feet. One of them asked the other, "What is the ailment of this man?" The other replied, 'He has been bewitched" The first asked, 'Who has bewitched him?' The other replied,'Lubaid bin Al A'sam.' The first one asked, 'What material has he used?' The –

other replied, 'A comb, the hair gathered on it, and the outer skin of the pollen of the male date palm.' –

The first asked,'Where is that?' The other replied, 'It is in the well of Dharwan.' " So, the Prophet went out towards the well and then returned and said to me on his return, "Its date palms (the date palms – –

near the well) are like the heads of the devils." I asked, "Did you take out those things with which the magic was worked?" He said, "No, for I have been cured by Allah and I am afraid that this action mayspread evil amongst the people." Later on the well was filled up with earth. ” – Sahih Bukhari Vol 4, Book 54, Number 490

Above hadith has other references:• Sahih Bukhari Vol 7, Book 71, Number 658• Sahih Bukhari Vol 7, Book 71, Number 660• Sahih Bukhari Vol 7, Book 71, Number 661• Sahih Muslim Book 26, Number 5428

Fortune tellers / SoothsayerSome fortune tellers also use jinn as their source of information, but bear in your mind few ahadith about fortune tellers and who ever pays visit and who ever testifies the fortune teller.

Narrated by 'Aisha (RA) Some people asked Allah's Apostle about the fore tellers He said. They are – “

nothing" They said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Sometimes they tell us of a thing which turns out to be true." Allah's Apostle said, "A jinn snatches that true word and pours it into the ear of his friend (the fore–teller) (as one puts something into a bottle) The fore teller then mixes with that word one hundred –

lies." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 7 Book 71 Number 657 and Sahih Bukhari Vol. 8 Book 73 Number 232 (with slightly different wording)

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

Hadith mentioned above (Sahih Bukhari Vol 6, Book 60, Number 223) in Abilities Jinns are able to –

go very high places section is about fortune teller.

Safiyya reported from some of the wives of Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) Allah's “

Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) having said: He who visits a diviner ('Arraf) and asks him about anything, his prayers extending to forty nights will not be accepted. ” – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5540

And we have even stronger hadith for person who not only goes to fortune teller but also believed in what he has said –

"It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever has intercourse witha menstruating woman, or with a woman in her rear, or who goes to a fortuneteller and believes what he says, he has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad.'." (Hasan - Darussalam) –Sunan Ibn Majah Volume 1 Book 1 Hadith 639

This whole thing also includes reading the horoscopes, for fun or for actually believing it. Remember, this is a serious matter in eyes of Islam and every Muslim should take it equally serious to preserve their faith. If you have fallen into shaitan's trap, do not worry, you are still breathing and alive and verily, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is most forgiving most merciful. Repent to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) with sincere repentance and make sure you never visit fortune tellers or read horoscopes ever –

again. Fortune tellers are enemy of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and whoever befriends them –

becomes enemy of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). May He (the Almighty) protect us all. Sincere repentance also includes regret for past sins, and giving them up once and for all, and resolving not to go back to them, out of veneration and love for Allah, and the desire to seek His pleasure and avoidHis wrath. If the sin has to do with the rights of another, then correct repentance is subject to a fourthcondition, which is restoring his rights or seeking his forgiveness. And Allah is the One Whose help we seek May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) save us, aameen.–

Here I would like to mention a mind blowing hadith that will in sha' Allah be helpful–

Narrated Shaddad bin Aus:

The Prophet said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: 'Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana 'ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, A'udhu bika min Sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u Laka bini'matika 'alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta." The Prophet added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he willbe from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." - Sahih Bukhari Vol 8 Book 75 Hadith 318

Evil Eye

What is evil eye?‘The Evil Eye' is also known as Ayn al hasad' or just 'Ayn' in Arabic, or Nazar' in Urdu and Hindi. ‘ – – ‘

These terms refer to a gaze that works like an arrow from bow from one person to another which may cause affliction or ill luck to the other. These gazes are often associated with envy, jealousy or –

even extreme admiration. This can be intentional or unintentional.

Modern cultures reject this phenomenon out rightly. They are not able to connect it with any sort of reasoning or logic. Some other cultures do accept this phenomenon. The acceptance is widely found in Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Turkey etc.

The acceptance or rejection of anything for us, the muslims, are based on teaching of Islam (Qur'an and Ahadith) say about it. Once it's availability is proven in Qur'an or in authentic source of hadith, we accept it without a single piece of doubt.

Is evil eye real? From Qur'an evil eye is proven to be real

Qur'an Surat Al Qalam 68:51– – –

And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad."

Following ahadith also show the reality of evil eye;

It wasnarrated that Ubaid bin Rifa ah Az-Zuraqi said: Asma said: O Messenger of Allah! The ‘ ’ “ ’ ‘children of Ja far have been afflictedbythe evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them? He said: Yes,for’ ’ ‘ifanything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be theevileye. Sahih (Darussalam) - ’” Sunan Ibn Majah Volume 4 Book 31 Hadith 3510

'A'isha (the wife of Allah's Apostle) said: When Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) fell ill. Gabriel used to recite these verses." In the name of Allah. He may cure you from all kinds of illness and safeguard you from the evil of a jealous one when he feels jealous and from the evil influence of eye." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5424

Abu Sa'id reported that Gabriel came to Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and said: Muhammad, have you fallen ill? Thereupon he said: Yes. He (Gabriel) said:" In the name of Allah I exercise you from everything and safeguard you from every evil that may harm you and from the eye of a jealous one. Allah would cure you and I invoke the name of Allah for you." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5425

Abu Huraira reported so many ahadith from Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and he reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: The influence of an evil eye is a fact. – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5426

Ibn 'Abbas reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: The influence of an evil eye is a fact; if anything would precede the destiny it would be the influence of an evil eye, and when you are asked to take bath (as a cure) from the influence of an evil eye, you should take bath. –Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5427

Umm Salama, the wife of Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam), reported that Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said to a small girl in the house of Umm Salama that he had been seeing on her face black stains and told her that that was due to the influence of an evil eye, andhe asked that she should be cured with the help of ruqyah hoping that her face should become spotless. – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5450

TreatmentThere are many hadith talking about treatment for evil eye. One of famous hadith mentions use of wudu' water.

Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab that Abu Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf said, ''Amir ibn Rabia sawSahl ibn Hunayf doing a ghusl and said, 'I have not seen the like of what I see today, not even the skinof a maiden who has never been out of doors.' Sahl fell to the ground. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was approached and it was said, 'Messenger of Allah, can you do anything about Sahl ibn Hunayf? By Allah, he can not raise his head.' He said, 'Do you suspect anyone of it?' They said, 'We suspect Amir ibn Rabia.' " He continued, "The Messenger of Allah, may

Allah bless him and grant him peace, summoned Amir and was furious with him and said, 'Why does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not say, "May Allah bless you?" Do ghusl for it.' Amir washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the end of his feet, and inside his lower garment in a vessel. Then he poured it over him, and Sahl went off with the people, and there was nothing wrong with him." – Maliks Muwatta Book 50 Hadith 50.1.2

There are some other treatments from hadith with the help of ruqyah (this also include treatment for poison from snake or scorpion)

'A'isha reported that when any person fell ill with a disease or he had any ailment or he had any injury, the Apostle of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) placed his forefinger upon the ground and then lifted it by reciting the name of Allah. (and said): The dust of our ground with the saliva of any one of us would serve as a means whereby our illness would be cured with the sanction of Allah. Thishadith has been transmitted on the authority of Ibn Abu Shaiba and Zubair with a slight variation of wording – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5444

'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) commanded the use of ruqyah for curing the influence of an evil eye. – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5445

Anas b. Malik reported in connection with ruqyah that he had been granted sanction (to use ruqyah as a remedy) for the sting of the scorpion and for curing small pustules and dispelling the influence of an evil eye. – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5448

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) granted sanction to the family of Hazm for ruqyah (in mitigating the effect of the poison of) the snake, and, he said to Asma' –

daughter of 'Umais: What is this that I see the children of my brother lean? Are they not fed properly? She said: No, but they fall under the influence of an evil eve. He said: Use ruqyah She recited (the words of ruqyah before him), whereupon he (by approving them) said: Yes, use this ruqyah for them. – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5451

These treatments are specific to evil eye and more treatment are in section of ruqyah that can also be used to treat evil eye.

Treatment using red chillies and other methods is not fromSunnahUsing red chillies, by stone, by burning of a cloth, by keeping some pulses and oil in open in a public area etc.

We see these methods being followed very often; We can confidently talk about these being followed in Indian sub continent societies. These methods involve that a handful of dried red chillies or a piece–

of cotton cloth being taken; this is revolved seven times around the body of the afflicted person, some parts of the body are being touched by these things and then the chillies or the cloth is burned. As per the wrongly held belief, if the burned matter does not give any smell or does not cause the persons around cough or irritation, it means that the afflicted person is being cured.

Another prevalent method is that some pulses and mustard oil is kept in a plate, the plate is taken around the body of afflicted person seven times, and the plate is kept somewhere out of the house in apublic area. The wrongly held belief is that by doing so, the affliction is taken away from the first person and is transferred to the others whoever comes across this matter in public.

All these methods find no value and existence in Islam. Introduction of all such malpractices in muslim societies is a direct influence of Hindu culture and traditions which has a vast following in Indian sub continent. As a Muslim we should understand that all these are prohibited in Islam. Some –

of these constitute sin as grave as Shirk'. We should abandon all such practices with immediate ‘

effect, and seek Allah's mercy for previous misdoings.

ProtectionProtection is better than cure. There are several ways to protect yourself from magic, evil eye or jinn possession; You will notice some of these ways are just to get shaytaan away from you (e.g, mentioning name of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala while entering house etc). Hopefully by now you understand that if you keep shaytaan away from you, there are less chances of magic, possession or evil eye,(obviously it's all will of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, what ever He (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wills, happens, and what ever He does not, will not happen).Following order in not important (This order is my personal priority, please forgive me if you do not agree), everything below has been given authentic references. So have faith in Allah and do what you can and in sha' Allah you will remain protected by the permission of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala);

Tawakal Al'a Allah (Reliance in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala))This is one of the most important part of protection where you know you have Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), your nourisher, sustainer, Lord of the heavens and earth. Once you have faith in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) that nothing harms you except his permission then the only time something will come unto you would be when Allah wants to test your faith once you pass that test you will –

become higher in your ranks (in sha' Allah).

I would back my statements up with verses of Qur'an

Qur'an Surat Al Baqarah 2:102– – – (part)

Qur'anWe are, Al Hamd O Lillah, Muslims and we are given this beautiful gift of living miracle, The Noble Qur'an. You and every Muslim should live and breath Qur'an. It has beautiful words of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an:

Qur'an – Surat Al– Baqara – 2:2

قن لقي قست هم ول لسل ةد ى هه له لفي قب وي قر قل هب هقت لك ول قك ٱ لل هقذ

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah

So we know that it's the most authentic book today, with no doubt. Qur'an cannot be replaced by any other book. Read and understand it. If you are memorizing it, it's ma sha' Allah very good but do makesure you understand it while you memorizing it.

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?

And we know that no one can change this book as Allah says in Qur'an.

When you face difficulty, turn to Salah and Qur'an, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an that the Qur'an is shifa'. And we know from sunnah of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) that he loved Qur'an, in fact It was intact to his heart and chest (these are my own statements may –

Allah forgive us if we are wrong and guide us to the right path)

And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.

One thing you should keep in your mind while reciting any sura' or ayah of Qur'an (or any dua' fromhadith of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam)) is; do not fall into innovations i.e, bid'ah'. For every bid'ah' is misguidance ; as we know from last khutbah of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu “ ”

'alayhi wa salam) 'kullu bid'atin dholalah' (All innovations are misguidance). So you should not –

assign a specific number to what you recite unless it is from authentic source.

A clear cut example of bid'ah' today is eid milaad un nabi, As yourself a question, has prophet – –

(Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) or his companions (may Allah have mercy on them) ever celebrated this eid? Answer is no, so it's innovation of today's Muslim. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala guide us and keep us on straight path.

Since my main topic is not Qur'an and it's importance, so I will stop here but please do read these verses from Qur'an;

Dua' (Supplication)Dua' is one of the strongest weapons Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) has blessed us with. Using dua' we can get closer to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and ask Him, the almighty, to grant us goodness and save us from all evil.

Some dua' are very easy to remember and are from authentic hadith that you should utter. If it was not important / good for us to utter these words, Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) would not have told us;

Dua' for visiting new places

By reciting this dua, no harm will befall on the person.

Khaula bint Hakim Sulamiyya reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: When anyone lands at a place, and then says:" I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah fromthe evil of what He has created," nothing would harm him until he marches from that stopping place.

Juwairiya reported that Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) came out from (her apartment) in the morning as she was busy in observing her dawn prayer in her place of worship. He came back in the forenoon and she was still sitting there. He (the Holy Prophet) said to her: You have been in the same seat since I left you. She said: Yes. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said: I recited four words three times after I left you and if these are to be weighed against what you have recited since morning these would outweigh them and (these words) are:" Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him according to the number of His creation and according to the pleasure of His Self and according to the weight of His Throne and according to the ink (used in recording) words (for His Praise)." – Sahih Muslim Book 35 Number 6575

You should not delay your prayer and must try to pray as soon as it's time has started so that Shaytaan is defeated.

AthaanAllah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said in authentic hadith about Shaytaan running away when he hears Athaan. Hence when ever possible do give athaan before you pray.

"Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Apostle of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Ayat al kursi– –We know from hadith mentioned above (Sahih Bukhari Vol 3, Book 38, Number 505) one of the benefits of ayat al kursi, there is whole chapter in Sahih Muslim Chapter 135: Excellence of surah – – “

Al kahf and ayat Al kursi". I will in sha' Allah add one more hadith here for people who do not have – –

access to Sahih Muslim

"Ubayy b. Ka'b said: Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said: O Abu' al Mundhir, do you –

know the verse from the Book of Allah which, according to you, is the greatest? I said: Allah and His Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) know best. He again said: Abu'l Mundhir, do you know the –

verse from the Book of Allah which, according to you, is the greatest? I said: Allah, there is no god butHe, the Living, the Eternal. Thereupon he struck me on my breast and said: May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu'l Mundhir!" – – Sahih Muslim Book 4 Number 1768

Surah Baqarah (Qur'an: 2)Surah Baqarah (Chapter 2 of Qur'an) is very important in terms of getting Shayateen out of your house. It contains many ayah's talking about magic and jinn, also ayat al kursi is part of this – –surah (Qur'an 2:255)

"Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: Do not make your houses as graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqara is recited." –Sahih Muslim Book 4 Number 1707

Control your angerControlling your anger is very important to get shaytaan away from you. As Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said in authentic hadith

I was afraid lest Satan might insert an evil thought in your minds." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 3 Book 33 Number 251

To control your anger please refer to following hadith:

Narrated Sulaiman bin Surd: While I was sitting in the company of the Prophet, two men “abused each other and the face of one of them became red with anger, and his jugular veins swelled (i.e. he became furious). On that the Prophet said, "I know a word, the saying of which will cause him to relax, if he does say it. If he says: 'I seek Refuge with Allah from Satan.' Then all is anger will go away." Some body said to him, The Prophet has said, 'Seek refuge with Allah “from Satan."' The angry man said, Am I mad? “ ”– Sahih Bukhari Vol 4 Book 54 Number 502

`Ajwah DatesAllah's Apostle said, "He who eats seven `Ajwa dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them." – Sahih Bukhari Vol 7, Book 65, Number 356

“'Amir b. Sa'd b. Abu Waqqas reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: He who ate seven 'ajwa' dates in the morning, poison and magic will not harm him on that day. ” – Sahih Muslim Book 23, Number 5081

There are approximately 7 narrations with regard to the dates. The most general wording is 7 dates and the most specific is 7 `ajwah dates from `aaliyatul Madeenah (a specific place in Madeenah). Other narrations include '7 madeenah dates'. There is also a disagreement about whether the word 'ajwah means the type that we have today. Therefore, we say: if you can get the 'ajwah dates from that exact place, this is best. If not, then any 'ajwah dates from Madinah. If not, then any 'ajwah dates. If not, then any Madeenah dates, and if not then any dates, and this is the best way of joining all of the different narrations.

Mention name of Allah while entering house and eatingThis is extremely important that you mention name of Allah before entering house and eating, it has many blessings; among these blessings is that it outcasts satan from house, it has been confirmed by following authentic hadith

"Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: When a person enters his house and mentions the name of Allah at the time of entering it and while eating the food, Satan says (addressing himself: You have no place to spend the night and no evening meal; but when he enters without mentioning the name of Allah, the Satan says: You have found a place to spend the night, and when he does not mention the name of Allah while eating food, he (the Satan) says: You have found a place to spend the night and evening meal. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Abdullah through the same chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording." – Sahih Muslim Book 23 Number 5006

Also it is Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) has forbidden us to eat with our left hand; shaytaan eats with his left hand, and you surely do not want to follow sunnah of shaytaan

"Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) having said: Do not eat with your left hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand." – Sahih Muslim Book 23 Number 5007

"Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as saying: When any one of you intends to eat (meal), he should eat with his right hand. and when he (intends) to drink he should drink with his right hand, for the Satan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand." – Sahih Muslim Book 23 Number 5008

FastFasting is an obvious way to keep shaytaan away from yourself. Stay away from fasting when it's prohibited by Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam). I would not mention any specific hadith on benefits for there are many; do refer to chapter of Sahih Bukhari; “Book 31: Fasting”

WuduKeep your wudu as much as possible. For wudu is state of purity and Shayateen hate purity. This can be another very useful way to keep shayaateen away from you in sha' Allah.

Treatment (Ruqyah)

What is ruqyah?Ruqyah means reciting Qur'an and saying supplications reported from the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) over the sick seeking cure. Ruqyah is just means of seeking cure, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is the only one Who cures through his mercy.

Is ruqyah from sunnah?Performing ruqyah is confirmed from Sunnah of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and I will mention few authentic hadith that talks about it. Please read them carefully as it will strengthen your imaan (in sha' Allah) and will build your confidence that what you are doing is not bida'h.

"'Auf b. Malik Ashja'i reported We practiced ruqyah in the pre Islamic days and we said: Allah's –Messenger. what is your opinion about it? He said: Let me know your ruqyah and said: There is no harm in the ruqyah which does not smack of polytheism." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5457

"Abu Sa'id al Khudri reported. We landed at a place where a woman came to us and said: A –scorpion has bitten the chief of the tribe. Is there any incantator amongst you? A person amongst us stood up (and went with her). We had no idea that he had been a good incantator but he practiced ruqyah with the help of Sura al Fatiha and the (the chief) was all right. They gave him–a flock of sheep and served us milk. We said (to him): Are you a good incantatory Thereupon he said: I did not do it but by the help of Sura al Fitiha. He said: Do not drive (these goats) until we –go to Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and find out (whether it is permissible to accept (this reward of ruqyah). So we came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon hin) and made a rrention of that to him, whereupon he said: How did you come to know that this (Sura al–Fatiha) could be used as an ruqyah? So distribute them (amongst those who had been present there with him) and allocate a share of mine also." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5460

"'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) commanded the use of ruqyah for curing the influence of an evil eye." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5445

"Anas b. Malik reported in connection with ruqyah that he had been granted sanction (to use

ruqyah as a remedy) for the sting of the scorpion and for curing small pustules and dispelling theinfluence of an evil eye." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5448

"Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported I had a maternal uncle who treated the sting of the scorpion with the help of ruqyah. Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) forbade ruqyah. He came to him and said: Allah's Messenger, you forbade to practice ruqyah whereas I employ it for curing the sting of the scorpion, whereupon he said: He who amongst you is capable of employing it as a means to do good should do that." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5454

Narrated Um Salama:that the Prophet saw in her house a girl whose face had a black spot. He said. "She is under the effect of an evil eye; so treat her with a Ruqya." - Sahih Bukhari Volume 7 Book 71 Hadith 635

Hadiths above clarifies the permissibility of performing ruqyah on ill person.

What ruqyah can be used for?As it is clear from above hadith ruqyah can be used for any illness or poison. I will only list downfrom what I know;

• Scorpion or any other poisonous bite

• Magic

• Jinn possession (love etc)

• Evil eye

• Any other pain. Shifa' is with Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and He gives it to whom so everHe wills.

Is a person really affected? It's very common observation that once one learn this knowledge, they start to think of people who are possessed etc. Following test will in sha' Allah help you determine whether or not a person is affected. Remember, there are still chances that person is affected and Shaytaan is just atrying to be a bit smarter to hide it. Use your common sense.

Following are common signs, but do not come to conclusion straight away, for example, if personhas headache, you should not conclude that this is magic, seek medical assistance, and if pain persists then perform ruqyah. In addition to that, there is no harm in performing ruqyah any wayso you can do it regardless.

• Hates listening to Qur'an or Athaan

• Split personality (Sudden change of mood, extreme emotions, laughing or crying for no obvious reasons)

• Complains feeling of crawling ants or spiders over themselves

• Complete change in facial structure or voice

• Extreme compression of chest

• Hallucinations

• Faints a lot

• Seclusion

• Visiting toilets a lot (passing stool)

• Likes to be in places of filth

Should I seek Ruqyah?

If you think you are afflicted, you should seek ruqyah as it is permitted act in sha' Allah.

As mentioned earlier, Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said :

"Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) granted a special sanction for ruqyah in case of the snake poison to a tribe of 'Amr. Abu Zubair said: I heard Jabir b. 'Abdullah as saying that the scorpion stung one of us as we were sitting with Allah's Messenger(may peace upon him). A person said: Allah's Messenger, I use ruqyah (for curing the effect. of sting), whereupon he said: He who is competent amongst you to benefit his brother should do so." Sahih Muslim Book 26 Hadith 5452

The other hadith does tell us that we should seek cure to desease

Usamah bin Sharik said:

"Some Bedouins asked: 'O Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) shall we treat (our ill)?' He said: 'Yes, O worshipers of Allah! Use remedies. For indeed Allah did not make a disease but He made a cure for it' or 'a remedy. Except for one disease.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)! What is it?' He said: 'Old age.'" Sahih (Darussalam) – Jami at Tirmidhi Volume 4 Book 2 Hadith 2038

Who can perform ruqyah on me? Before I start my words, let me mention a hadith:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

Page 37: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

The Prophet once came out to us and said, "Some nations were displayed before me. A prophet would pass in front of me with one man, and another with two men, and another with a group ofpeople. and another with nobody with him. Then I saw a great crowd covering the horizon and I wished that they were my followers, but it was said to me, 'This is Moses and his followers.' Then it was said to me, 'Look'' I looked and saw a big gathering with a large number of people coveringthe horizon. It was said, "Look this way and that way.' So I saw a big crowd covering the horizon. Then it was said to me, "These are your followers, and among them there are 70,000 who will enter Paradise without (being asked about their) accounts. " Then the people dispersed and the Prophet did not tell who those 70,000 were. So the companions of the Prophet started talking about that and some of them said, "As regards us, we were born in the era of heathenism, but thenwe believed in Allah and His Apostle . We think however, that these (70,000) are our offspring." That talk reached the Prophet who said, "These (70,000) are the people who do not draw an evil omen from (birds) and do not get treated by branding themselves and do not treat with Ruqya, but put their trust (only) in their Lord." then 'Ukasha bin Muhsin got up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Am I one of those (70,000)?" The Prophet said, "Yes." Then another person got up and said, "Am I one of them?" The Prophet said, " 'Ukasha has anticipated you." - Sahih Bukhari Vol 7 Book 71 Number 648

Reliance upon Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is not just one level. It is obligatory upon you that you do not seek help from anyone in something that only Allah can give you. It is permissible, however, to seek help from people in those things that they can do. The important thing is that the less you ask those people, the closer you become to the highest level of trust and reliance upon Allah. The more you ask people, the further away you become from trusting in Allah. The Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said:

"Whoever asks someone to do ruqyah for them is free from [truly] trusting in Allah."

Yet, there is no doubt that asking someone to do ruqyah is permissible, but because of what it contains in terms of relying upon someone else, and because of how easily your heart can become attached to the person reading, and because of your dependency upon them, your iman and your reliance upon Allah is not truly complete.

(Some parts of this section are taken from http://muhammadtim.com/advice/5 - Please see this link)

Before you begin

Raqi

• Have clean faith in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and be sure that you are aware that

Page 38: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

nothing and no one can harm you except what Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wills. ( ...But “they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah... ” – Qur'an 2:102) This is very important, without having faith in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), you will not be able to achieve anything, and after having faith in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) you will achieve whatever Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wills.

• Cure is only with Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala); your reciting of Qur'an and performing ruqyah is just a mean to seek cure, this does not mean that cure is in your hand. It's Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) who tests His servants however He (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wishes. He (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) does not put burden on his servants more than they can bear. ( Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity... “ ” – Qur'an 2:286).

• Make sure you have patient with good faith. They do not have faith of any misguided sect.Although, again faith relies on Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala)'s will but you need to explain to your patient and take this opportunity to explain the deen (religion) to them. They will listen to you in sha' Allah.

• Take any amulet that your patients have, away from them keep it aside; this will be –discussed later in sha' Allah as to what to do with it.

• Whether you are reciting Qur'an or you are performing other acts, do not interact too much with jinn, they will try and talk to you; not because they are interested in you but because they do not want you to recite Qur'an. The only time you will talk to jinn is whenyou are telling them to leave the body of your patient. Remember, they are liar, do not trust them when they say anything e.g, "his / her aunty sent me in this body through –magic" etc, just DO NOT BELIEVE IN WHAT THEY SAY. They may try and tell you, "Thereare 2 of us in this body" and stuffs, just do not believe and continue with your recitation!

• Try to give dawah' to the jinn once, if they do not want to listen or if they want to accept islam, well and good, ask them to take shahadah and ask them to leave the body.

• Remember, do not fear them, as Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in Qur'an (mentioned above) that do not fear them, only fear Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala)

• Avoid jinn catching, it's not from sunnah and you will fall into disbelief (kufr) as it does not work any more than how magic works.

• Do not seek aid from shaytaan, remember, you should only seek aid from Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) even if there are Muslim jinn around you who want to help you, tell them you do not want their help, if they still do it, may Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) reward them but you don't ask them for help. Have faith in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala).

• Control your anger, shaytaan in the body of patient will try to make you angry by makingmockery out of you, just be patient and they will stop when they see no effect of their efforts, if they don't stop, you continue to be patient ("Verily, Allah is with those who are Patient" – Qur'an 2:153).

• Humble yourself before Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala)

• Constantly make dua' to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) Specially at times when dua' is –answered. See http://duas.com/tips.php for detailed tips.

Patient

If you are patient and you have someone performing ruqyah over you, in following cases, throw this raqi out of your house right away without a further delay, as there is possibility that he is notdoing (or he does not know) the way of Qur'an and Sunnah, or it might be that this person is magician and performing acts of disbelief:

• Gives you amulet to wear

• Asks for your mother's name

• Recites Qur'an quitely (in this case ask him maximum of three times to recite out loud and after that throw him out of your house you do not know what he is reciting).–

Remember, there is nothing hidden in deen. I seriously don't like people who say, You don't “know it's knowledge that you don't have to know just trust us . Why can't I know something ”when Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said:

It was narrated from 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Amr As Sulami that:He heard Al 'Irbad bin Sariyah “say: "The Messenger of Allah (Peach be upon him) delivered a moving speech to us which made our eyes flow with tears and made our hearts melt. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah. This is a speech of farewell. What did you enjoin upon us?' He said: 'I am leaving you upon a (path of) brightness whose night is like its day. No one will deviate from it after I am gone but one who is doomed. Whoever among you lives will see great conflict. I urge you to adhere to what you knowof my Sunnah and the path of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and cling stubbornly to it. And you must obey, even if (your leader is) an Abyssinian leader. For the true believer is like a camel with a ring in its nose; wherever it is driven, it complies." Sahih Darussalam – – – Sunan Ibn Majah Volume 1 Book 1 Hadith 43

Have patience in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala), it is very well possible that Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is testing you to give you higher rank in jannah, so do not lose this opportunity; remember,

Verily, Allah is with those who are Patient “ ” – Qur'an 2:153

Tajweed

You should try to recite Qur'an with proper tajweed as much as possible.

Reciting Buddy

Have someone with you to recite as well, so you can take turns as session can take longer than expected and reciting Qur'an with proper tajweed for very long can sometimes be hard.

Patient's Mehram

Patient must be accompanied with a mehram. If it's sister that you reciting over, she should be wearing hijaab. You should avoid any touching. For a sister, only her mehram should be touching her in cases where needed and you should be able to guide her mehram throughout the session. Explain the whole process to mehram and they should know what they are about to experience.

Salah

If time of salah arrives during session, observe it, and then get back to session. Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) is watcher over everything we do.

Things to prepare before startingThere are some preparation and protection steps that you should take and observe before you begin your ruqyah session.

Ruqyah Water

Prepare ruqyah water for this will be in sha' Allah helpful for drinking, doing wudu with, spraying on patient etc. Remember, this is not obligatory step and you should not think it as part of religion since this is my (and other Raqi's I know) way;

Before preparation please remember, you should not assign any number (without clear proof from hadith or Qur'an) to what you recite over water, otherwise there is a possibility of bida'h (innovation in religion). Note: The number three and seven are both proven in the ahadith and there is in sha' Allah no harm in reading any ayah this number of times.

1. Take bucket of drinkable water

2. Start reciting from Qur'an. My preferences (and some of these are part of ahadith above as well) are as follows, but you may choose whatever you want from Qur'an Read step –3 first

• Surah Fatiha (Qur'an : 1)

• Surah Falaq (Qur'an : 113)

• Surah Naas (Qur'an : 114)

• Ayat al kursi (Qur'an 2:255)

• Surah Baqarah (Qur'an : 2) Opening verses

• Surah Baqarah (Qur'an 2:102) Deals with magic (Sulemaan AS)

• Surah Baqarah (Qur'an 2:285 286– ) Glad tidings and dua'

• Surah Al Araaf (– Qur'an 7:117 122– ) Deals with magic (Musa AS)

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

• Surah Yunus (Qur'an 10:81 82– ) Deals with magic (Musa AS)

• Surah Ta ha (– Qur'an 20:68 70– ) Deals with magic (Musa AS)

• Anything that you can from Qur'an the Qur'an is shifa'–

3. While you reciting Qur'an, blow into the water (This is from Sunnah of Allah's Messenger(Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) as mentioned in hadith above in Al Mu'awwidhatan' ‘ –section).

Be prepared for vomit

During your ruqyah session, be prepared for patient to vomit. It is very common act. Preparation includes having bucket for patient to vomit in, try to avoid doing ruqyah session on a carpet etc.

How to treat patientNow that you are ready to get started. Please read this document thoroughly before you begin as there are some points that you would need to know while reciting or taking to Jinn.

Adkhaar & Du`a

Always start by praising Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and sending blessings to our beloved prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and his companions. Then continue with adhkaar to protect yourself from evil. I would highly recommend following dua' that are proven from sunnah

Sahih Muslim Book 35 Number 6541–

قق قل قخ قمنا لسر قش ون لم لت قسمنا قستنا لسقل ال لت ا قمنا لل قك لب هذ هعو قأ

I seek refuge in the Perfect Word of Allah from the evil of what He has created

Sahih Muslim Book – 26 Number 5434

ةنا ةء ل يغنادر سقم اللهم رب النناس، أذهب البأس، واشف، أنت الشنافي ل شفناء إل شفناؤك، شفنا

Transliteration: Allahumma Rabban-nas, adh-hibil-ba's, washfi, Antash-Shafee, la shifa'a, ilia shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman

Translation: O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove this disease and cure him. You are the Great Curer, there is no cure but through You that leaves behind no disease.

• Ayah al kursi• Al Muwadhaat (Falaq, Naas)• Anything from Qur'an or other authentic ahaadith…

Recitation of Qur'an

The essence of ruqyah is reciting Qur'an over patient. 99.9% of the time, this should be enough bypermission of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala). Just continue to recite Qur'an while patient is listening.

42 / 48

Page 43: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

Other Methods

Rest of 0.01% is when you use other methods and there are many other additional steps you can do and if Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) wills, He (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) will cure patient. Remember, you should start with reciting Qur'an first and do it for a while and in between recitations, you can performs these steps but your focus should be recitation of Qur'an.

I have written with each step whether it's sunnah or not (or not sure)

• Spray ruqyah water while reciting Qur'an (Not sure)

◦ Ruqyah water will in sha' Allah work as acid for shaytaan and he will be burnt with it. Continue doing it.

• Perform Hijama (Cupping) on patient (Sunnah)

• Physical pressure (Not sunnah only experience based observation)–

◦ Remember, this is light pressure on human. Light touching or poking can hurt jinn if they are inside body of human, as much as a hammer will hurt us, the humans. This does not mean you start slapping person. Remember, this method patient does not get hurt. If person is getting hurt, you are not doing it right, and if you are not doing it right, avoid doing it at all.

◦ You should avoid this method as much as possible, specially if you do not know what you are doing or how to do it.

Remember, again, it's not you who gives shifa', it's in hands of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and Him only. So have faith in Him. Remember, we are His slave and He may test as however He wants. As Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) has said in Qur'an:

Qur'an Surat Al Imran 3:186– –

You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.

I would like to add this hadith in the end about a way of Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam):

43 / 48

Page 44: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

"Uthman b. Abu al 'As Al Thaqafi reported that he made a complaint of pain to Allah's – –Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) that he felt in his body at the time he had become Muslim. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) said: Place your hand at the place where you feel pain in your body and say Bismillah (in the name of Allah) three times and seven times A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ukhdhiru (I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil that I find and that I fear)." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5462

Expectations & Important Points

Please note down following points and fit them into your session/s as needed.

• You must not exploit people in order to seek large amounts of money. Also, if you are given gift, you may accept it as the following hadith suggests;

"Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that some persons amongst the Companions of Allah's Messenger (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) set out on a journey and they happened to pass by a tribe from the tribes of Arabia. They demanded hospitality from the members of that tribe, but they did not extend any hospitality to them. They said to them: Is there any incantator amongst you, at the chief of the tribe has bgen stung by a scorpion? A person amongst us said: 'Yes. So he came to himand he practiced ruqyah with the help of Sura al Fatiha and the person became all right. He was –given a flock of sheep (as recompense), but he refused to accept that, saying: I shall make a mention of it to Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam), and if he approves of it. then I shall accept it. So we came to Allah's Apostle (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) and made a mention of that to him and he (that person) said: Allah's Messenger by Allah, I did not practice ruqyah but with the help of Sura al Fatiha of the Holy Book. He (the Holy Prophet) smiled and said: How did you –come to know that it can be used (as incactation)? and then said: Take out of that and allocate –a share for me along with your share." – Sahih Muslim Book 26 Number 5458

• If person is doing weird stuffs while you are reciting Qur'an, continue with your recitations, you may observe different acts. But if person is not listening and is asking you to stop reciting, hold him up (in case of sister ask her mehram to hold her up) and continue with your recitation.

• Ask your patient to recite over themselves, there are chances that jinn is hiding inside and would avoid to come back again but ask patient to continue to recite. If jinn is still there, continue with your session and ask them to leave. Repeat the process

• Ask your patient to keep praying (Salah) and continue to make supplications (Dua'). Also to stay away from music for music is word of Shaytaan. If one loves music (word of Shaytaan) how do they expect to love Qur'an (word of Allah)?

• Jinn may trouble patient for a while but ask them to have faith in Allah and have patience. Remind them of verses from Qur'an talking about hardship etc (Qur'an 94:5 6– )

• Throw all statues and pictures / photographs out of the house. Tell patient (and their household) to avoid wearing shirts with skeleton / skull on it.

44 / 48

Page 45: Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam - Muflihunrc.muflihun.com/books/magic.pdf · Dua' before entering toilet ... I really feel for people who do not understand the reality of

Reality of magic and it's cure in Islam

• One session may not be enough sometimes so you may divide your ruqyah into multiple sessions. A session may last for an hour (or whatever you are comfortable with). However, if you have interacted with jinn, it's better to extend your session. It's like you have started burning him / her with the permission of Allah and His glorious book, Qur'an. You do not want to give him a rest.

• As a raaqi, you must be patient at all times.

Destroy Ta'weez

If your patient had ta'weez, you must take it away from them and destroy it regardless of what's–in it, you must destroy it. I will explain how to destroy ta'weez; this is what I learnt from differentraaqi, so if you want you can avoid my way.

Remember, while doing all these steps, continue to recite Qur'an 113 (Al Falaq) and Qur'an 114 –(An Naas) to ask Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for protection.–

1. Make wudu

2. Get glass of ruqyah water

3. Cut through ALL THE KNOTS using scissor (Continue reciting Qur'an) and keep putting all pieces in ruqyah water

4. Open ta'weez (Continue reciting Qur'an)

5. You can see what's in it, whatever is in it, needs to be destroyed

6. Cut all the paper into small pieces and dissolve in ruqyah water (Continue reciting Qur'an)

7. Leave it for a while

8. If ink is completely dissolved, good! Now throw this water in ocean, river or any such flowing water [NOT IN TOILET] (Continue reciting Qur'an)

9. If ink is not dissolved, don't worry, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) will help you in sha' Allah, take pieces of paper out and let it dry and after it is dried burn it (Continue reciting Qur'an)

Remember, this is not from Sunnah (Not that I am aware of) and is my own suggestion. You can choose other methods of your choice.

If you are not satisfied with 'ruqyah' section of document you may also check this page for more information, it will in sha' Allah benefit you more: http://muhammadtim.com/programme. Be Aware

Amulet (Ta'weez)Amulet is a string (with or without beads etc.) which people hang around their necks or tie around theirarms with a belief that doing so shall protect them from some evils (it is known as taweez' in urdu and ‘

hindi). This act is not authenticated by Sunnah. Refer to following hadith:

It was narrated from Uqbah ibn Aamir al Juhani that a group came to the Messenger of Allah –

(Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam) [to swear their allegiance (bay'ah) to him]. He accepted the bay'ah of nine of them but not of one of them. They said, O Messenger of Allah, you accepted the bay'ah of nine but “

not of this one. He said, He is wearing an amulet. The man put his hand (in his shirt) and took it off, ” “ ”

then he (the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam)) accepted his bay'ah. He said, ‘Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk. [Masnud Ahmed 16969] classed as Sahih by Shaykh al Albaani in al” – –

Silsilah al Sahihah, 492–

Please note, above hadith does not say 'bad amulet' or 'good amulet'. Sadly and surprisingly, a vast majority, particularly in Indian sub continent, can be seen wearing amulets. They wear it thinking that –

this will bring some lady luck to them or prevent them from The Evil Eye' or ward off evil in other ‘ –

forms from them. Poor they, for they do not know that instead of doing anything good for them, the act is rather involving them in Shirk'.‘

Some other hadiths since it's serious matter:

Narrated Abu Bashir Al-Ansari:That he was in the company of Allah's Apostle on some of his journeys. (The sub-narrator 'Abdullah adds, "I think that Abu Bashir also said, 'And the people were at their sleeping places.") Allah's Apostle sent a messenger ordering: "There shall not remain any necklace of string or any other kind of necklace round the necks of camels except it is cut off." – Sahih Bukhari Volume 4 Book 52 Hadith 249 and Sahih Muslim Book 24 Hadith 5280

"It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud that:The Prophet of Allah [SAW] disliked ten things: Yellow dye, meaning Khaluq, changing gray hair, dragging one's Izar, wearing gold rings, playing with dice (Ki'ab), (a woman) showing her adornment topeople to whom it is not permissible for her to show it, reciting Ruqyah, unless it is with Al-Mu'awidhat(Verses seeking refuge with Allah), hanging amulets, removing to ejaculate in other than the right place, and taking away the milk of an infant boy (by having intercourse with his mother)- but he did not say that this is Haram. Hasan (Darussalam) – – Sunan an-Nasai Volume 6 Book 48 Hadith 5091

Drinking Verses or Dua'I know some people write Qur'anic verses or Dua' and dissolve in water and drink it, Please be avoid such acts. Although some of the noble scholars of Islam were in favor of such act; but some weren't. I would recommend you to stay away from such acts as much as possible and stick to authentic sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa salam).

786 and Other NumbersSome people use 786 for Bismillah and 92 for Muhammad. There is no authentic hadith that permits to use numbers instead of these original. These Muslims transforms each letter into number and value becomes certain number. Remember, if it becomes 786 it can mean or be transformed to some other shirk sentences / words as well. If you cannot use original form of bismillah, use transliteration or translation (best way so people who cannot read arabic can understand it too) In the name of Allah, –

most gracious, most merciful.

ConclusionPlease forgive me if any of my word has harmed any one in any way. Surely, I did not do it intentionally. Please have patience and do not fall prey to false 'aamil. Continue to make dua' to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) and continue to make dhikr (remembrance of Allah (Subhanahu wata'ala)).

in sha' Allah, I will see you on the day of judgement or in jannah. May Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) make resurrection and day of judgement easy on us. And may He (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) grant us the VIP stand (shade under His throne) on the day of judgement and water from hod e– –kauthar. Remember, as long as you are breathing you have chance to turn to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) before it's too late. Leave your sins, make dua' that Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) may help you turn to Him completely. Ask Him (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) to make you love this world as much as required, not more than that and make you work for akhirah as much as required, not less than that.
