Auction success

Bevans Wollongong have recorded very strong auction results over the last two weeks with all auction properties selling under the hammer and large numbers of people showing interest.

A block of units at 204 Gipps Road, Gwynneville, which generated over 136 inspections prior to auction, sold for $1,530,500. There were 30 registered bidders & a crowd of up to 200 people in attendance. James Ianni also sold a block of land at 57 Sorensen Drive Figtree under the hammer for $440,000, $60,000 above reserve.

Director of Bevans Wollongong, Andrew Hedley, said that the auctions have been so successful because of the transparency of the process. A focus on cords

The parents of a NSW toddler who died after being strangled by a blind cord are campaigning to make it compulsory to retrofit all window coverings for safety.

New curtains and blinds have mandatory standards to prevent child strangulation, but these do not apply to older window coverings such as the one which strangled Jack Mackay, aged 18 months, last August in Port Stephens.

Raine & Horne Dapto Property Manager Ellie Perez urged home owners to check on blinds and to have any issues rectified.

“A couple of dollars for a cleat could save a life” she said. “Every year, at least two deaths form cords are reported, and those deaths are preventable.”
