REIS is a powerful software application. It receives, validates and tallies voting data, then publishes fully accurate and transparent election results, allowing authorities to proclaim a winner within minutes of polls closing.

Benefits

AuditabilityREIS is 100% auditable. That means, all parties involved can review its source code and verify that it performs as intended.

SpeedIt is extremely fast, allowing authorities to obtain final results in a matter of minutes.

FlexibilityIt can be fully customized to meet the requirements of the electoral legal framework.

SecurityUses a standardized, high level of data encryption, fully compliant of industry accepted algorithms.

Ease-of-useIt has a very complete and user-friendly interface for system operators.

Cost-effectivetwo operators can accomplish in minutes what used to take several days to a large team of people.

What does REIS do?

When the polls close, REIS receives, validates and processes election data from every authorized voting machine, as well as every contest’s manual vote. It then computes the contest winners using any one of the supported vote aggregation methods that the election

commission may have chosen. REIS allows authorities to view the results from the entire nationwide election panorama down to the tally from a single polling station. Convenient and powerful software tools are provided so that results can be published within minutes.

REIS (Real-time Electoral Information System) For the quick and secure deliveryof election results

Constant monitoringREIS creates and maintains a record where every operation and every event is time stamped and logged for future auditing. Via its online portal, election commissions can use it to supervise events in real-time, interact with users of the system in the field (polling stations), and even manage and monitor user authentications and accesses.

REIS constantly monitors itself, blocking any self-modifying, dynamically loaded or interpreted code, to ensure the software remains unchanged.

FlexibilityREIS can accommodate both federated or distributed modes of operation. That means that it facilitates proclamation of results both at local jurisdiction level or nationally in a central location. REIS can be used in fully electronic, manual and mixed-type elections.

Completely secure All data managed by REIS is encrypted using the advanced encryption standard (AES), a symmetric 256-bit cipher adopted by the U.S. government and currently used worldwide. It is the first publicly and openly accessible cipher approved by the National Security Agency (NSA) for top secret information.

REIS receives election data using SSL (secure sockets layer), a protocol for encrypting results over the Internet, accepting digital certificates and two-way authentication. This means electoral authorities can assign individual signatures to their voting data, with the effect that no voting station or poll center not previously registered following the strict system protocols may not add a single vote to the REIS databases, that is, they are rejected. This guarantees that the votes accepted are in effect the votes cast in aunthorized machines and locations only.

Election queries, answered Because information is crucial for electoral authorities, REIS supports on-going queries about the election in progress, at a wide spectrum of detail. REIS allows authorities to find out about partial ( in real time) or final results at various levels, showing tallies from the outcome of a single voting machine, in any one of the polling centres, to those summarized tallies belonging to higher level jurisdictions, and up to those of the entire election.

TrendsAnnouncing elections results timely is one of the most pressing concerns authorities face when conducting elections. That’s why we developed Trends, a module of REIS that allows those in charge to forecast final outcomes based on official electoral data as it arrives to the servers on Election Day.Leveraging on the power of statistical inference, Trends allows authorities to announce results when they are irreversible, even before all votes have not been counted.
