On 20 February 2008 Leicester Tigers received planning consent for the £60 million redevelopment of their Welford Road home.
The first phase of the development started In the summer of 2008 to facilitate space for 10,000 supporters in a new stand (called Granby Halls Side), taking capacity up from 17,498 to 24,000. After full renovation it will have a capacity of above 30,000.
In October work began on the construction of the new north stand - called the Caterpillar Stand after the club’s main sponsor. The Caterpillar Stand has room for 10,000 spectators along with a 1,000 seat hospitality suite. The Main Contractor was Galliford Try Plc based in Wolvey. The Sub Contractor was Hodgkinson Builders Midlands Ltd based in Derby.
Premier Mortars supplied 327m3 of M4 / M12 RTU Mortar and at the height of the project was delivering 7m3 per day servicing 21 bricklayers and 2 labourers.
The site agents John Scholfield and Mark Payne were initially sceptical about the suitability of ready to use mortar for the project, however they were extremely satisfied with our service and quality throughout the project and would not have any hesitation in using Premier Mortars again.

The Castlegate area of Manchester has been designated as Britain’s first Urban Heritage Park consisting of a wealth of heritage attractions such as railway viaducts, canal systems and museums.
With an array of cultural and tourist attractions, developers Wilson Bowden commenced construction of a residential development which would be integral to its surroundings and one which would blend seamlessly into its historic setting.
Derelict industrial buildings were renovated or restored to their former glory, and numerous archaeological digs revealed the early history of the city. Against this backdrop 82 apartments were constructed to provide a modern contemporary living space close to the Castlefield Basin and Bridgewater Canal.
Architects Atherden Fuller Leng (Manchester) and developers Wilson Bowden specified Locharbriggs Sandstone Rubbed Face Ashlar Cladding from Marshalls specialist business, Stancliffe Stone, as the preferred cladding material for the outside of the apartments.
To complement the existing brick and sandstone buildings nearby, and the historic red sandstone buildings of Manchester, the apartment blocks utilised the same materials to create a residential area which blended perfectly together.
To achieve harmony in both designs, the challenge was then to match a complementary RTU mortar for an aesthetic finish. Premier Mortars were able to provide a coloured mortar PM36 Dark Terracotta which complemented the chosen materials and provided the ideal solution to achieve the desired finish.

Constructed over 3 floors by main contractors Mellwood Construction, this new IT building at Birkenhead Sixth Form College was completed in April 2012.
Premier Mortars supplied Mortar PM132 Buff and Natural Mortar for the external brick structure and sub contracted out to North West Floor Screeders Ltd to supply Premier High Performance and Polymer Modified screeds sufficient to lay to the specified depth throughout the three floor structure.
This required a total of 70 tonnes of material laid over 4 days, covering a total of 3 rooms and corridors. Apart from the ground floor, the upper level screed was pumped into each location.
In some rooms a polymer modified screed was required to deal with an uneven sub-base, where in some areas the level had to be raised to achieve the overall depth.
Despite these problems the screeding project was completed on time and to budget according to the terms of the contract.
1,3,4,5 Stages of Ready to lay screed being laid on underfloor heating (UFH).
