DADDY’S DRUM CLUBDaddy’s Drum Club is a fun 45-minute rhythm workshop for children under fi ve and their parents, based around simple, fun games and nursery rhymes. All drums are provided and older siblings are welcome.

SAMBA 101Reading’s samba drumming group Beatroots invites beginners to join them for a fun, informative and energetic intro to Brazilian percussion. The workshop ends with a performance and a big drum jam with the full samba bateria.

UKULELE 101This introductory ukulele workshop has everyone (even beginners) playing fun and quirky cover songs. The workshop ends with a big uke jam led by members of Readipop’s ukulele group The Small Strings.

CONTEMPORARY POETRY COURSEFROM PAGE TO PERFORMANCEThis course will explore the relationship between form and content in both page and performance poetry. It is suitable for beginners and intermediate poets who want to strengthen their writing and performing skills through readings and discussions, games and writing exercises, as well as critique of work in progress. You will engage with fresh approaches to generating poems with a close look at new processes and old forms revisited by contemporary poets and performers, in view of developing a body of work to be published in a Course Collection and performed at a live event.

BEGINNERS UKULELE COURSEA fun course for beginners; learn technique, expand your chord knowledge and play alongside others. The course is led by The Small Strings and culminates in a performance at Festival of 1000 Ukes*. Readipop can provide a limited number of ukuleles – reserve one by emailing o� [email protected].

FESTIVAL OF 1000 UKESFestival of 1000 ukes is Readipop’s celebration of all the tiny twangers; a mini festival across two stages. In the evening there will be a host of ukulele groups and acts, throughout the day there will be workshops for all ages. Keep an eye on the website for full details and tickets.

MOVING ONMoving On is a singing group for people aged 60+. The group meets every week to learn and sing vocal arrangements of classic popular songs. New members are always welcome, including absolute beginners.

BEATROOTS BATERIASamba drumming group Beatroots has performed at many major events and festivals including WOMAD, The Thames Festival and the Olympic Rowing during London 2012.
